I made it to the end, YAY! (Avatar Blogger Crossfit Challenge(Entry 30 of 30))

Thirty posts in thirty days doesn’t *seem* like it’s going to be too taxing, but believe me, it really is. I have no idea how some bloggers do it, but I confess writing every day has been a challenge.

So what have I learned? Well, I write a lot. I’m sorry, but I can’t help it! I have a tendency to waffle but heck, that’s my style and it’s served me well since 2007!  I don’t like to post meaningless, superficial updates to my blog if I can help it, and that obviously contributes to the length of time it takes me to write a post.  Of course that’s not taking into account creating the images that need to go with each entry; another time-consuming task even though my skills are somewhere near the bottom of the league;and then there’s the fact that if I ever get sent any items to review I have to take my time and write a proper review. Look, if a thing is worth doing, it’s worth doing well, and I’m a typical Virgo in that sense.

Would I do such a challenge again? Hmm..perhaps, but probably not. It’s proved  that my regimen of updating the blog a few times a week (usually three) works best for me. By keeping to that schedule I have the time to consider what I’m writing and compile an interesting post for readers. I can take my time over it, and it fits better into my real life schedule. But this challenge has really opened my eyes to some great writers out there, and I’ve been impressed by my fellow bloggers.

Here are four blogs that I have really enjoyed, although of all my fellow bloggers that contributed to the challenge are pretty darn good!

  1. Alex and Hero are relatively new bloggers and I’m now a huge fan.  I love their styling and writing and have added them to my follow list. The blog is fresh and fashionable and promises lots of great pictures and posts!
  2. Stuffery is another blog I’ve fallen in love with.  I really like the fact that the writer, Anarya Elderslie, is evidently a Whovian, and she also inspired me to obtain my own disclosure policy, so thank you for that!
  3. Chaotic Virtuality, despite the title, is anything but.  In fact it’s a great looking blog, full of colour and great photographs from the ravishing Ravensong Merlin (who has the best about.me page image I’ve ever seen. LOVE it!)
  4. The League Of Extraordinary Fashionistas are certainly fans of Royston Vasey’s ‘special stuff’ and have kept me entertained with their posts over the month. I especially like the photographs they feature; they use very different wind light settings to myself (I’m always afraid my pictures will look more pants than ever when I experiment) yet they get away with it, so they must be ruddy experts! A very impressive blog indeed. Arrgh! (said in a Pirate style..)

I featured the list of bloggers at the beginning of the month, but I’m going to publish again so that you can, if you wish, visit each one in turn and decide if it’s a blog you’d like to follow. I’ll also add them to my blog roll (A time-consuming task but I’m proud to be associated with each and every one!)

A final thought: thanks to everyone involved in creating this challenge and bringing it to Second Life.

It’s been hard work, but definitely worth it. Second Life has a lot for us bloggers to write about, as I hope that this challenge has proven!

Here’s the list of contributors again, and well done everyone!

The Marvellous Magika Sale! (Avatar Blogger Crossfit Challenge(Entry 29 of 30))

The Marvellous Magika Sale! (Avatar Blogger Crossfit Challenge(Entry 29 of 30))

Magika Sale

There’s a fantastic 50% summer sale just started at Magika.

The sale will only be available in the inworld store between June 26 – July 10, which means it’s not valid on purchases on the marketplace, but that’s not really a hardship when you can rez in-world and be immediately surrounded by wonderful, awesome hair. And LOTS of avatars, clamouring to buy it!

Get your paws on some fabulous styles like the one I’m wearing above which is called ‘Awake’.

Even better, once the sale is over Sabina has promised lots of lovely new hairstyles for us to enjoy. (I’m crossing my fingers and hoping for bobs obviously!)

The Drax Files World Makers: Mad Pea Games (Avatar Blogger Crossfit Challenge(Entry 28 of 30))

The Drax Files World Makers: Mad Pea Games (Avatar Blogger Crossfit Challenge(Entry 28 of 30))

Draxtor’s latest video takes us into the realm of gaming in Second Life with Mad Pea Games.

A team of collaborators, with Kiana Writer at the helm,  build dark and dynamic gaming environments which really push the limits of the Second Life experience.

Drax discovers how the team works together to create successful games in a world often plagued by frequent avatar crashing and lag, and also gets a sneaky peek at their next project.

This latest instalment really turned me on to the idea of using Second Life for gaming, and I cannot wait to try out the Mad Pea experience for myself.

Enjoy, and great work as always Drax!

It’s almost the end of the month, but you still have time to check out Collab88 and the Cosmetics Fair. I’ve loved this round of Collab88; the Nineties theme and bright colours and patterns have been a real nostalgia trip for me. Seeing as festival season is now well underway I thought I’d get my rave gear on for this shot. Particular favourite items  this round included the UFO ‘Who Cut Off My Sleeve?’ Tee, the ‘Some Boots’ by DECO, Ball chain necklaces from YUMMY and the ‘Rapture Rave’ necklace from MAXI GOSSAMER.  I also really rated the entire range from NYLON OUTFITTERS, especially the hair and bindi that made me feel very Opus III!  You really must be sure to check it out in-world before it ends, and CLICK HERE for a Spotify 1990’s dance playlist to enjoy while you’re Second Life-ing!

As for Cosmetics Fair, be sure to pop by before it ends join the group and pick up the fabulous giftie from MONS on the small table near the sofa. It’s some really zingy, colourful eyeliner in a dazzling arrau of bright colours, called ‘Eyeliner Drama’, and I’m wearing it in world at the moment to really up my rave factor. It looks awesome, so don’t miss it.

Don’t be sad as the end of the month draws near, we have a LOT to look forward to in July.  Furniture galore, hairstyles a-plenty, foody nom nom, shoes, boys and even more eyeliner! WOOOTTTT!!
