Boogie Tuesday

Boogie Tuesday

Well, after a decidedly average Tuesday, what better way to cheer yourself up than go for a boogy, so I did.  I met DJ Jenns at the weekend at Secondfest and was so impressed by his set that I’ve become a bit of a convert!  I like his style- an eclectic choice of tunes and very competent mixing ability. So tonight I turned up at the Haven’s Paradise sim to hear Jenns.  It’s a FABBO sim, really really beautiful (Still a few spaces to rent here as well, I heartily recommend it!) Jenns performed a quality set, tunes such as ‘Relax’and ‘Papua New Guinea’ blasted out onto the dancefloor…GET IN!!

However, Jenns-mate…..’Doop’ is not a worthy choon to boogie to.  Drop that from the set-list pronto you nutter!

In other news, I’ve done some more modelling and have been photoing myself in fancy frocks.  There’s method in this madness btw..I need a visual record of all the hair that I own as I’m losing track, lol!

As always, all photos will be up on my Flickr shortly ;P

So as a way of cheering myself up after last nights’ disappointments ( MORE ON THAT VERY SOON!)  I decided to go SHOPPING.  I admit it, I’m a shopaholic, but I care not a jot.  Unlike RL, I can afford to be a clothes-whore in my SL! Anyhoo, my recommendation to anyone who fancies a quality shopping trip is to always check out what the Linden Lifestyles ladies have blogged.  I don’t have enough time to wander the shops and root out the best finds, so I leave it to these lovely ladies to blog the very best of SL fashion.  It’s not very often that I disagree with their choices either to be honest, and if It hadn’t been for these ladies, I wouldn’t have discovered places like Last Call, Frangipani, Calla….the list is endless.
Anyway, at the moment the updates aren’t as frequent as usual, as Salome and Sabrina have to focus on their real lives at the mo, but a regular weekly update is being provided by Daisyblue, and she’s blogged some corkers!  I didn’t realise that Canimal was having a clear out-sooo, I treated myself to the outfit you can see me wearing whilst bopping at the 3 Lions in below:

Dancing at ‘The Three Lions’ aka ‘My Local’

We have such fun there.  I really cannot recommend the place enough..DJ Forever Delaid dropped a great set, and played me ‘The Floral dance’ by the one and only Terry Wogan, lol.  How can you feel sad after that?  After a few hours of shenanigans I mooched back home, changed my t-shirt and took some pictures for my Flickr, which you can see my hitting the Flickr bar:)

Sunday Morning..

Sunday Morning..

One of the reasons I love ‘Second Life’ so much is the complete eccentricity of it. There is no better way of exorcising your mad thoughts and tendencies than by turning yourself into one of the myriad of creatures that you can be-online. I’ve seen so many in my 6 months in world that it is impossible to list them all. I’ve seen smelly tramps raiding dumpsters, spider monkeys flinging bananas off the roof of the pub and countless Pandas, Valkyries, Giant snails, singing frogs..the list is endless! Everyday people become something different. And I’ve no doubt that this is what makes SL so utterly unique, it truly is a living work of art and long may this originality continue…An example of the madness, by way of illustration is my local, ‘The Three Lions’ in Bourton. It’s Sunday morning, the Sabbath, a day of rest and relaxation Therefore 3L is packed out with assorted characters having a boogie as Prad plays the choons, and on the stage, in a replica military uniform (rather an excellent one as well) is Simon, busily building a WW2 bunker complete with sandbags and barbed wire.

On stage.

In the middle of the pub.

On a Sunday morning.

Second life…LOVE IT!

Secondfestin’

Secondfestin’

To put it mildly, I AM ONE KNACKERED KITTY! Secondfest kicked off on Friday and I’ve spent very little time anywhere else.  The islands look great, clearly a lot of effort has been put into the builds and lots of nice little extras are scattered around to keep the interest flowing.  It’s all about the music however, and so far I’ve managed to see a couple  really worthy acts.’The Glimmer Twins’ dropped a rather stonking set on Friday night.  There were plenty of avs in attendence, and unlike my peers I wasn’t suffering any lag issues, so I was free to enjoy the beats.  they were awesome, which I made very clear to all and sundry around.  I was quite chuffed therefore when I was IM’d by the guys real life manager, thanking me for my praise.  However the guys were not really there…they were actually performing in Moscow, so the set was pre-recorded.  I was a tad disappointed by that, but it didn’t detract from a fabbo evening.Saturday kicked off with a cracking set on ‘Chill Out’ island hosted by DJ Jenns, a cocky bugger who drops some fantastic choons and mixes. The sim was bursting, and there was mundo appreciation from the crowd for a fantastic set.  This one fortunately was us, meaning Jenns could interact with us, take requests and basically give us some verbal.  We loved him so much he stayed an extra half hour, and I will certainly be going to more of his gigs in-world on the back of this one.Last night I wandered around the island a bit more, went camping, got a wristband and a few t-shirts, some roller skates and visited a virtual salad bar! (Pffft!) The camp tents are excellent, room for two with a live stream at your feet- a really nice touch. They were also showing movies on the beach ( picnic balnkets provided) and plenty of nice cafes to sit and have a wee coffee in.  Hidden locations abounded too, I found one lovely secret beach, but there was no point hanging around because no one else was there.  Later on, hung around to see Coldcut.  This is when I started to experience lag issues, got bombed out twice and then realised it was a recorded set, with a rather annoying MC.  Now, as a Guardian reader ( Norman Tebbit would love me, lol!) I was obviously up to speed on SF due to their publicity of the event.  I have to say I’m disappointed by the way it was reported that there was going to be exclusive content and live-feeds. The Coldcut performance was a recorded gig, and seeing as it made no mention of SL and there was crowd noise to be heard I don’t class that as ‘live performance’.  However, obviously I haven’t checked all the acts out.  New Young Pony Club seemed to be live, but I kept crashing out of the sim so many times I gave up trying to get in.  The BIG EVENT for me tho is tonight.  My beloved PSB’s are playing the main stage at 10pm.  As luck would have it I founded a group for the chaps only a couple of weeks ago in world, and it was one of my mission statements that we should try and get the PSB’s to perform a gig in SL.  Anyway, of course we now know that this was obviously being planned anyway!! (As previously mentioned, I was interviewed by SLNN on the subject) We even got t-shirts and conical orange and white pointy hats made for the group, by group member Sullybaby Gomez, bless her heart.  What a star!  Anyway, I have heard rumours that it’s going to be again a recorded event- I really really hope not, but I’ll still be there early and ready! I’ll drop a report of how it went later on.  There’s something esle bothering me about it tho..there actually hasn’t been THAT much wider publicity as far as I can tell about this event. Obviously SLNN covered it, but The Avastar completely blanked the occasion in their entertainment guide. Also, the sister paper of The Guardian, The Observer mentioned Sf only on a very small add near the back of the paper, which makes me wonder-has it been the success they were aiming for? Let’s wait and see…Keep your fingers crossed I manage to see the boys tonight! ( Oh, and check out my Flickr stream below for piccies!)
