The awards just keep on coming….

Again, this is another one that I was dreading calling ( I have had the Flu, honest- I’ve not just been avoiding you!) but really there’s a hands down winner here, all things considered. That said, Nekorifik! has really come into it’s own this year, with Lawra Fredrikkson mad busy building her shopping empire in SL yet still finding the time to produce some pretty nifty garb of her own. Noam Sprocket ( Gritty Kitty) on the other hand needs no introduction to anyone, the guy is a legend and creates the most amazing bags, hairstyles and Neko items that you’ll find anywhere on the grid. He has an ardent band of followers and when a he produces a new release it doesn’t take long until you start to see it being worn by all and sundry across the grid, but that is no bad thing; his pieces are so individual that they can be worn by anyone and still look fresh as a daisy. BUT, there can only be one winner and I’ve concluded that she spends practically ALL her time at her keyboard. If she doesn’t, then she’s either a clone or a doppelganger, because the volume of work from this uber-creatrix is beyond compare. Ivey Deschanel should be viewed as an inspiration by new designers on the grid, as she really has worked her arse off to secure the status that Sn@tch has acquired on the grid. Not only that, she manages to be uber generous with gifts to store visitors and group members alike, and is a perfect example of how to use a distribution group;each week she sends out an essay to members stating what’s new and what bargains are to be had. But that’s all paperwork- the proof of the pudding is in the eating, or in this case, greedy devouring as Sn@tch fashion makes you want to gobble it all down in one fell swoop. Everything in the store is pitched perfectly towards it’s audience, is colourful when it needs to be, and fits like a dream. Not only that, but the ink and skins and shapes and entire range are just so damn wonderful that it’s hard to not be swept along by the gloriousness of it all..no wonder that her store is always busy! Incidentally, if you’re not into Neko or Goth or Grunge…don’t be put off. I’ve found some stunning pieces that can be dressed up, down or just slopped on with a pair of heels and a bag and you would never believe that the finished look started out in Sn@tch.

Ivey Deschanel, you’ve been a source of wonder during 2008- I wonder how you’re going to wow us all in 2009?

The Kitties will be back!

The Kitties will be back!

This week guys, I’m well on the road to recovery (Ha! She says in-between coughs and splutters) so I’ll be getting back to the task in-hand and resuming announcing the winners:)

Kitty has…THE FLU

Kitty has…THE FLU

This is EXACTLY how I’m feeling in RL at the moment (Probably because I’m wearing a top with holes in it-new release from League that Amanda told me all about, so I blame her!)

Joking aside, if you’re suffering from the winter bugs and nasties that are going around you have my total sympathy..and if you’re managing to get in-world at any point ( I’m trying but my visits are brief, I ache sitting at the keyboard) then why not share the joy of Flu with all your chums with this amazing set for only L$50 from XstreetSL? Best part is it’s wearable, ALL of it, so you can share your doom and gloom wherever you are in world as it’s totally transferable! Utter genius:)

ACHOO!  Here..have some mucus!

Canimal wins a Kittie!

Canimal wins a Kittie!

Ok- this was ALWAYS going to be a tough one to call and I could have had about fifty nominees in this category, but I wittled it down to the stores that I have frequented most this year and have left a real impact on me. Each of the designers behind these labels are veritable artists in their particular fields; Baiastice and Nicky Ree produce some of the most sumptuous couture that you can find on the grid. Nicky uses a palette of devastating colours and textures that just dazzle with their sheer grandiosity, whereas Sissy Pessoa (Baiastice) uses her passion for Italian fashion to produce pieces that aren’t just clothing but artwork in their own right. Truth and Canimal on the other hand are very different designers aiming towards different markets, but are no less awe-inspiring in their approach to fashionable design. Truth produces stunning separates, but I’m totally in love with the awesome coats and jackets that she produces-fit for any virtual occasion with their excellent tailoring and colouration. Canimal on the other hand is legendary for the dazzling array of dresses, skirts, hoodies and a myriad of individual pieces that can be dressed up to great effect, or grunged down.

Canimal is a cult, nay, a lifestyle choice even – make no mistake about that, and it’s for that reason that I’m awarding her the Kittywitchin Fashion Award 2008.

Every single designer I’ve mentioned here are masters of their craft, all equally deserving of praise and recognition, but I feel that 2008 was Canimal’s year..and I can’t wait to see what 2009 has in store for us!
