COMING SOON! A HUNT DEVOTED TO THE BOYS!

COMING SOON! A HUNT DEVOTED TO THE BOYS!

Altogether now, “About bleeding time!”

Guys, you don’t have long to wait for a hunt that you can call your own! The ‘Make Him Over’ hunt will run from 1-30th June and is for FELLAS ONLY, and is being touted as featuring the very best of  SL menswear and all things chap-related.  This has been a long time coming don’t you think? Hunts are obviously the big grid-craze at the moment, but all of them have featured very few offerings for the boys.  ‘Make Him Over’ seeks to redress that balance, and I can’t wait to see what Jez will be lucky enough to uncover. Obviously this hunt is in the planning stage but if you’re interested visit the dedicated blog where you can find the organisers names and contact details should you wish to contribute.  When I first started in Second Life menswear was at best painful, but it’s come a long way (baby) since then with designers recognising that there are plenty of fashion conscious guys out there who want to look as good as the girls. It’s been tough finding fabulousness for Jez, but I can honestly say in the past 6 months I’ve noticed a huge change in the menswear offerings that are out there, and I hope as many designers as possible embrace the opportunity to feature their products in this hunt…I will of course be dragging dear Jezmond around it, so if you see a harrassed, frustrated looking she-avatar dragging a sobbing WoW character around the grid don’t worry, it’s just me:)

*UPDATED* Gridwide VIP Hunt in full swing…

*UPDATED* Gridwide VIP Hunt in full swing…

So the grid is as laggy as fook and there’s grey goo everywhere and people seem to be colliding into each other whilst ravaging sims in a frenzy of virtual excitement..yes, it’s ANOTHER hunt. As previously mentioned the Gridwide VIP hunt promised to be a fine affair and so far it has actually delivered upon it’s promise of superior quality hunt items. The majority of finds are quality wares indeed and it is definitely worth the L$200 entrance fee for the Atomic skin alone, which I’m wearing in the picture. I’m also wearing part of the Nekeo gift (ears) as well as the rather fabulous Shinji armwarmers ( they come with matching trainers as well-woot!) As hunts go it’s also exceptionally tough, frustratingly so at times. There are going to be clues featured on the web site accompanying the hunt but I’ve given up on 3 locations already for fear of developing RSI through frantic use of my space navigator (they’re ace for hunts). I will give it another go but I feel like I have my moneys worth already..if you’re a UK based hunter here’s a heads-up, hunt in the mornings while the more prolific US based SL’ers are catching some real life zees..it really does make a huge difference to all the lag. Happy hunting chaps, and don’t forget that some of the locations featured are also participating in the SL Discovery hunt so that’s double the freebiage, and also look out for the Midnight Mania boards that many of the locations featured have on their sites…(you’ll need to be quick though, every single store that I’ve visited on the hunt already had the boards in lockdown mode!)

Republik is where it’s at…

Republik is where it’s at…

My fave bar in the entirety of Second Life has to be ‘The Crown and Pearl’. Regular readers will have heared me wax lyrical about the C&P many times before…but if you weren’t aware it rose like a phoenix from the ashes that sadly smouldered after the closure of ‘The Three Lions’. It’s a superb place with a fantastic crowd of regulars that I’m blessed to call friends, and all sorts of high jinx and escapades have taken place within…I can’t even begin to tell you about some of them! The C&P wears many different hats and caters to a vast and eclectic audience, but when you want a dedicated dance club venue then I have to recommend just one to you, and that is Republik. It’s recently been relaunched in world and hot dang it looks the business! This is the kind of club I want to go to in RL.
It features ultra modern styling and gorgeous artwork, as well as secluded areas for you to sit and chat. Of course the main area features decks and a dance floor and an ever changing selection of DJ’s in attendence, but that’s not all. You can tell this has been a labour of love, from the careful co-ordination of furnishings and accessories to the selection of dances that you can use to throw some moves on the dance floor. Apart from the main club there’s a club terrace bar, a separate terrace dance area and a smashing raver’s cove. This is set against a beach backdrop where you can buy a surf board and take to the waves in style. Republik also features a park area with a large cinema screen and picnic blankets and also a bijou selection of shops…it reeks of style and sophistication though and is a great sim to explore. It’s been beautifully landscaped and you can tell great care has gone into conveying just the right ambience but for me the club itself is the highlight. It’s an astonishing achievement, so kudos to all the team involved in the relaunch. There’s LOTS to see here and enjoy, so I suggest you take a peek and drop by the club for some bingo, bango, bongo dancey trancey house music shenanigans and I might just see you there…;)

Batman Hoody by Intrigue

Batman Hoody by Intrigue

Now this is an ‘Jezsential’ purchase if ever there was one! (See what I did there? Clever Kitty..) This rather bat-tastic ( I’m full of it today!) hoody is a measley L$50 from Intrigue. The store has a vast array of tees and hoodys featuring characters like Pac-Man, Ghostbusters and some of the characters from Sesame Street for you to eep over and wear until worn out. The clothing is great, but the prices are even better, it’s just L$25 for a tee. As you can see the price doesn’t mean that the items are poor quality either..great textures and prim attachments mean that these are utterly splendid value for money…and as if that wasn’t enough.. the Batman hoody features bat ears on the hood. YAY! (Big up to Fab Free for the tip-off!)
