Now this is fun, and with a serious message too. How does a pair of carbon goggles grab you? Seriously, Jim Purbrick, a Linden Lab developer, has created a pair of goggles that when worn specify the carbon emissions of certain objects, eg a kettle, a Honda civic or a jumbo jet. Alas it doesn’t work on all objects in the virtual world but it’s a fun gimmick with a serious message too. I mean, did you consider when making a brew this morning the carbon emissions generated by your kettle? For a northern lassie like me, who lives off her daily PG fix, this is a point to ponder…
From a fashionista perspective I think the goggles are a bit..utilitarian..but don’t take my word for it. Click here to find out more, oh and here to watch a wee movie about them, and congrats to Jim for a hugely original and thought provoking idea!
