I just wanted to share with you all that Deedee isn’t well. She has been admitted to hospital by ambulance this afternoon for tests. As regular readers will know Deedee Fadoodle is my closest friend in real life and has been bravely fighting cancer for a number of years. Alas the rotten bloody thing has spread throughout her body, but she has fought it with grace and as much strength as she can muster. She was very poorly back in March of this year, but rallied round and I hope this visit to hospital will be just as brief and see her back home with her family as soon as possible. I’ll keep you updated but ask that you keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

BE HERE NOW! Penryn festival 2008
Well, with festival time in full swing in Real Life, it makes sense that festival season should be kicking off in Second Life too, so I’m pleased to tell you about PENRYN FESTIVAL 2008. Penryn is where the wonderfully bonkers ‘The Pig ‘n’ Horn Pub’ resides..and it is a smashing place with some great regulars. The Penryn Festival 2008 is completely in aid of ‘Relay for life’, and promises 36 hours of live acts to enjoy! ( Note-sorry, it’s friday afternoon when I’m posting this, but soddit-get your asses down here!) Freebies (including froggy wellies courtesy of Swaffette Firefly- they’re ACE!) and lots of vendors at the site. PLUS you can even camp in a tent! YAY!
Here’s the press release ( because I’m too lazy to re-write it,and couldn’t do it better anyway:)
Some Funky people Proudly Present – PENRYN FESTIVAL 2008!!!

ALL proceeds from sales, island passes and camping grounds will go to Relay For Life – cancer research.
Kitty Quickies…
- Calla is looking for employees! If you want to work in one of the most successful hair and skin shops in Second Life then be prepared to work blooming hard for your buck! Tigerlily Koi has a long list of expectations, including the ability to edit prim hair for customers (So don’t be under any illusions that merely standing in the shop and looking pretty will suffice!) However, the rewards are excellent. After a trial period ( payment in Calla hair vouchers) you could be earning L$200 per hour! I can’t remember where I saw the notecard on this one folks, I think it was in the Calla group notices ( forgive me if I’m wrong, but I’ve only just woken up) When I log in later I’ll verify the details and re-post. Just wanted to make you all aware!
- The ‘Poser’ group on Flickr is running a competition for best use of the couples ‘Intimata’ pose from Meya. L$500 plus SIX Meya poses for the winner….I’m defo up for that one!
- Changes are afoot on this site…I’m going to be revamping the ‘Kitty Essentials’ section over the next week or so. It was my plan that I’d be updating it on a weekly basis, but that’s not happened for a while owing to time constraints/RL committments. I’ll also be tidying up some of the blurb and imagery on the site:)
Google goes all ‘Lively’
So Google launched it’s MMO ‘thing’ a few days ago. It’s called ‘Lively‘, and enables you to create an avatar replete with your own room that you can embed on your web-site so your friends can drop by and enjoy..which is pretty cool if you ask me! But like Kaneva and There it seems to be aimed more towards the ‘tween’ market, and your design options are limited to the content provided by Google. With the success of vitual worlds like ‘Habbo Hotel’ I can see why Google have decided to dip their toes into the metaverse, but personally I think with all the competition from the previously mentioned, as well as the ever popular IMVU, I think they’ll have to rely on a lot of help from their already well-established brandname to attract the punters. If you want to take a peek at ‘Lively’ for yourself, click HERE What do you think? Put it this way, I don’t see it as a viable threat to SL ;P
