Snug as a bug on my halloween rug!

Snug as a bug on my halloween rug!

.

With Halloween fast approaching the SL universe has become buried under numerous pumpkin hunts and is bursting at the seams with fangtastic freebies of all shapes and sizes; no bad thing at all in my book. I love Second Life at Halloween. Considering that it’s a celebration of death the grid really comes alive at this time of year! For us shopping types it’s a frenzy of orange and black accessories, party frocks and costumes, not to mention all the fun things you can find to decorate your home. Rest assured you can do Halloween on a budget, after all that’s exactly what I’m doing, and you will be AMAZED at the quality freebies that you can find on X Street ( I hate that name) and Onrez. It’s easy to find them as well. On X Street for example, perform a search on freebies but just enter the keyword ‘Halloween’ and you’ll get LOTS of hits.( You can also sort by price, low to high. I also suggest you use keywords like Witch, Ghost and Pumpkin)

I’m probably on the verge of being a tad pumpkin-ed out, but hey, who cares? I love this time of year and I thought I’d share a few finds with you!

Look out for freebies by the really reputable merchants. Like most objects in SL, there are the good, the bad and the really ruddy awful (there never seems to be any in-between!) so be selective. Remember the motto: Just because it’s free doesn’t mean that you have to have it!

For example, on X Street is a trick or treat animation from ‘The Motion Merchant’ Johan Durant, who creates quality animations. This is a great animation! If you’re going to a costume party there are TONS of free avatars to be found, for example why not go as a pumpkin? Even better, a TINY pumpkin! There’s a cute freebie avatar by Tamahikari Tammas that you can wear to a party. I’ve also seen some really decent witch avatars floating around for absolutely nuffink. If you’re a landscaping enthusiast you’ll find plenty of goodies to adorn your home and garden. I’ve found some lovely landscaping pieces, for example, a ‘Halloween Spooky Smooching Tree’ from DarkHeat Designs. There’s a comment from a dissatisifed customer on the X street ad, but to me it looks the part and it’s certainly made my garden look a tad more festive so I’ve no complaints:)  Kyota Spitteler has provided some utterly adorable vintage Halloween signs which are great for decorating the inside of your parlour.  You can also find some excellent skins for the season, one of my absolute favourites (and you all know what a picky sow I am) is the S.D Halloween Gift  It has a super web design that’s absolutely perfect for the season, and can be worn all year round if you’re Gothically inclined! Back to pumpkins, and ‘Perfect Prefabs’ have gifted us with a package containg four sets of pumpkins with differing properties (glow, natural and illuminated) for dotting around your home and garden. These are really cool and they’re dotted all over my land…Finally, the picture above features me enjoying a picnic Halloween style as part of the free Sculpty scene featuring four animated poses by Minke Bailey. This is a limited time freebie and I really love it….
