..was one that I was more than happy to accept. She asked that bloggers wear larger shapes than normal, style them and photograph the results. I loved this idea, because as I’ve commented on these pages many times before I cannot bear to see stick thin avatars. Women, even slim ladies, are CURVED..fair enough on slimmer girls the curves will be slight BUT I have yet to see a woman of any size without a curve on her body ( unless the woman is question is suffering from some sort of medical ailment) Anyway- back to the challenge.
It wasn’t hard for me to participate in this because I wear a variety of different shapes in my Second Life now, partly through choice and also because I’m in the shapes business so I like to model my wares:) I’m trying to encourage more people to choose larger shapes, but I think one of the main reasons that people refrain from trying them is not because of the look per se, BUT because there are sometimes clothes fitting issues when you wear plus-sized avatars which is annoying as hell. I think of it as the SL equivalent of my going into a RL store and trying something on in my size that guess what, doesn’t fit..grrr. (Sizing in RL is so bloody ad-hoc these days that there are many stores I won’t even bother with..but that’s a rant for another day)
I styled Kitty in Boho-chic for this shot, because it’s the kind of look that love in real life and I think it looks really lovely on curvy girls ( like me!) You can’t beat a flowing skirt, a camisole, beads, bangles and a shawl for feeling free…the look can go towards the hippyish ( which is no bad thing if you ask me) so if you want to reign it in a little aim for using more structured pieces with a defined ‘edge’. I’m prattling on a tad here so let me tell you about the look. I’ve teamed my ‘Cherry Dahling!’ shape with the ever wonderful ‘Leona’ skin from Redgrave. The shape works especially well with the skin, even if I say so myself..I just love the chubby cheeks and voluptuous pout that this shape gives me:) I’ve been exploring a lot of Japanese sims of late and the outfit was a find on a sim called ‘SWITCH’. Make yourself a cup of tea and have a meander around that one- there were quite a few fellow avatars in the vicinity when I was there, and the area is styled like a downtown Tokyo shopping district. It’s super quirky and a real delight to explore- I LOVE sims like that. Anyway, the dress is from ‘Beetlebones’ ( FABULOUS name for a store) and the necklace is from ‘Monochro Monochro’ ( which, incidentally goes VERY well with the latest earrings release from Fab.Pony, the ‘Oh She’s Good’ earrings, but I couldn’t wear them with this hair ‘cos you wouldn’t be able to see them!) The hair is one of the latest releases from ‘Magika’, and it is called ‘Mika’. I love it, the headband reaches round and ties into a bow at the back which is so very feminine. I dunno what it is with Magika and Truth recently but both stores are launching fabulous styles that are, quite frankly, leaving me skint!
Anyway, that’s my submission towards the blogger challenge..if you want to recreate the look yourself the shape is available at MY NEW STORE ( I’ve moved-more on that later!) In Malt for the princely sum of L$10 for the rest of the week so you can partake of the challenge should you so wish…there are other curvy shapes on offer too.
Finally, big up to Hybrid Ansar for the challenge, and a huge shout out to the beautiful larger ladies on the grid…Big girls, YOU are beautiful!
