Perhaps my fave ever sci-fi series from recent times was ‘Battlestar Galactica’, and I was bereft when it ended. Fortunately, there is a massive role-playing community in Second Life who exist in the BSG universe, but aboard a different ship, ‘Pacifica’. This is their stand at the Sci-Fi expo- I wanted to change into my flight suit ( yes, a BSG flightsuit!) BUT it’s obviously fallen victim to my inventory mishap, hence my looking out of place in my trekker outfit. The builds here are pretty amazing..I expect to see Boomer walking out of this ship any second!

Look, I just found the Captain’s chair..I didn’t realise but there is a dedicated sim in-world to the original series, which is my favourite. It’s called ‘Star Trek- Virtual Enterprise Experience’ and they have a pretty nifty display at the event, which I’m exploring here….

I’m sure Second Life will lose members to Star Trek Online when it is launched, so it’s kind of ironic, but also pretty cool, to discover that there is a raffle to win a beta-key for the game ! There’s also a ‘Search For Spock’ scavenger hunt and many other events planned over the weekend at this Linden sponsored event:) Donations and monies from ticket sales will go to the the American Cancer Society. There’s even a starship building contest!
