Wonderland: Virtual Adultery and…

Wed 30 Jan, 9:50 pm – 10:30 pm  40mins

…Cyberspace Love

Carolyn is a 37 year-old mother of four in the midst of a passionate affair that is tearing her family apart. She’s spending up to 18 hours a day with her lover, and her husband is in despair. But the extraordinary thing about this affair is that Carolyn’s lover is man she has never met. Because he’s not a human being. He’s an avatar (or computer generated figure), who exists only in the virtual world of Second Life. And their relationship exists only in cyberspace.

The population of the virtual world Second Life has grown to over three million in the three years since it was created. It’s a world in which you can buy the things you could never afford in real life, and have the body and looks of a movie star for just a few dollars. But as relationships develop in this strange animated world, the risk is that they start to become more real than those in your first life.

In the teeth of fierce opposition from her husband of nine years, Carolyn flies 5000 miles to London to meet Elliot, the creator of the avatar with whom she has fallen in love, in order to see if a relationship formed in cyberspace can work in the real world. And she leaves behind her a family left rubbing their eyes in bewilderment and anguish.

This is a film about those who’ve become so disillusioned with their real life that they’ve sidelined it in favour of a virtual life. It’s about people who’ve cheated on their life partners and risked losing everything, for the promise of a life that’s so far only been experienced in the pixels of a computer screen and the dream world of their own fantasies. Calla re-invent the hair wheel

Calla re-invent the hair wheel

Calla dropped a neat package on me earlier bursting with styles including this rather breathtaking number.   I don’t usually veer too far away from my bobs, which have become my signature style, but when hair is this good you *have* to make exceptions. We all know that as far as hair goes Calla is up there with the very best, but they’ve gone one better and lifted the benchmark really high with their latest package…hair that you can fit perfectly using a touch-to-fit menu. That’s right-no more fannying about with edits and crying when you bugger it up and realise you didn’t make a copy!
I’m the most *useless* person in the world when it comes to adjusting hair so anything that makes it easy for me is an utter godsend. This pack enabled me to try various styles, and using the menu you’re able to adjust the fitting gradually by increments of either 1% or 5% until your bonce is festooned in perfect Calla hair glory. It’s so easy even Moth my cat could do it..which if you know me in RL and know Moth, is saying a lot!
If you look to my Flickr, the last few styles I’ve been wearing were all fitted using this menu system, and I’m very happy with it indeed. I actually found it a relief not having to use the edit tools, so if this is the shape of things to come, count me in!

NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM!!!!
Sorry-that is all I can say-because these handbags just happen to be among the nommiest I have ever seen!!! Starley has created handbag heaven here ladies! Not only do they come in a fantastic array of colours BUT they have both shoulder and handheld positioning included and cost a MEASLEY L$150. Oh. My. God. I swear my pants are damp. If I had the dosh I’d have the lot, but I’ll make do with a black one and a burgundy one for now….oh I love these bags!!! I can *just* imagine the burgundy one in RL as well, because I had one in burgundy suede in the same slouchy style. It was fabbo. Then Pumpkin (RIP) weed on it. Sigh. Time for more nommage before I get too morose missing my Pumpkin…..Anyway, go look at the bags!

Night Blooms by Orchid Dreams

Night Blooms by Orchid Dreams

I’ve been a somewhat blessed lil’ Kitty today-lots of niceness in my inventory to keep me happy and to play with. Orchid Dreams is a shop that I wasn’t familiar with until yesterday, when a note was posted in the Fashcon group, but I can assure you that it has been added to my list of faves. The designer is a lady called Emeriselle Theas and she is exceptionally courteous and helpful and deserves to be very successful, because her creations are awesome. (I posted very quickly yesterday but I felt like I hadn’t done it properly, so I’ve taken some pictures and posted them to Flickr-link to your left) The outfits I’ve fallen in love with would best be described as Oriental with a modern twist and as you can see this dress, ‘Night Blooms’, goes really well with the new hair from Calla called ‘Spanish Jasmine Confetti’, but more on that in a moment. The textures and details are very very good.  textures tend to stretch across my boobies as they are a tad on the large side but I think this dress fits very very well. I *love* the shoulders..they are so retro and yet remind me of Rachel in ‘Bladerunner’ (But that is on my mind a lot as I just saw ‘The Final Cut’ recently) Anyways, I have this dress in two colours ( as you can see on the Flickr) but I DEMAND that you go Emeriselle’s shop and buy the utterly wonderous ‘Kirei’ outfit.  It’s a must for your spring/summer wardrobe, trust me on this. It features two beautiful tops with 1 pair of pants and is mix ‘n’ match happiness. The colours are wonderfully fresh and will go with lots of other items in your wardrobe.  If you like anything at all Oriental, then PLEASE go see ‘Orchid Dreams’, and tell Emeriselle that I sent ya! ( The judge said I wasn’t allowed within 50 yards of the shop again y’see) I guarantee you will NOT be disappointed, and if you are, well you need a good slap!
