More Kitty Whinging….

More Kitty Whinging….

You may be wondering (or you may not) where my fashion postings have departed to in recent weeks. I apologise for my being a tad lax in providing my clothing related witterings, but two words account for it: Credit Crunch! Yes, poor ol’ Kitty is tightening her purse strings so that no more moths fly out. Ok, I know I’m half-Scottish and all that, but I’m not being mean or stingy. I think the designers in Second Life do a wonderful job and fully deserve all the dollars they make. However, the vast majority of my exploits and purchases are paid for from my own pocket, so that means when I don’t have nice shiny newness to share with you it means I can’t afford to go out and buy any. I’m lucky in that Sn@tch, Nekorifik and Fukmi Clothing have been more than generous in supplying me with wonderful new things to share with you all, BUT I’m conscious that if I just based this blog on the articles donated by three designers then you wouldn’t have a very objective or realistic picture of the in-world fashion scene as a whole, hence my buying lots of pretty things and reviewing them here. Of course, it’s always been my aim that Kittywitchin isn’t completely written about fashion. I want to share with you my whole virtual experience, so that means that when I buy other objects on occasion, such as the skybox for my Dad, I’ll blog them accordingly. It all takes funds though, something which at the moment are in somewhat short supply.

I know what you might be thinking: “What a whinger! Kitty you’re a hot-shot reporter and SL-ebrity* and must be talking out of your ass as it’s obvious that you’re LOADED!” Think again… The Avastar have gone really quiet on me at the moment so I’m not getting any regular work ( and payments) from them, something which I’m sorely missing. Incidentally, If you’re reading this Leider and Regis..I am still here!! Call me? To compound my gloom I’ve also just missed out on a golden opportunity regarding a sub-editorial position on a blog which I’m beyond gutted about, and as per my last post I won’t be featured in an art exhibition., which I was tremendously excited about. All in all, my Second Life is a tad ‘meh’ at the mo 😦

But back to the credit crunch- if I’m having to reign in on my purchasing power, it makes me wonder how badly the credit crunch will be impacting the SL economy as a whole. Designers are already more than generous with freebies, but freebies are just tasters… the good stuff of course goes on sale, and there is a LOT of good stuff out there to be had.

It’s really grim when you can’t indulge…but even grimmer for all the time and effort spent by all those wonderful content creators for little or no reward. ( *Sl-ebrity is definitely taking it too far! People such as Codie and Vint are indeed slebrities and with good reason, they’re amazingly talented. I’m just a blogger with grand aspirations!)

Disappointed Kitty

Disappointed Kitty

A couple of months ago I got an e-mail to my Flickr, telling me that I’d been selected to have some of my images included in a virtual exhibition in Florence, Italy.  I was seriously chuffed- I mean I don’t use Photoshop or anything on my images, I just take photos, so as you can imagine the idea of having some of my snaps included in an exhibition was a huge boost.  Imagine my astonishment then when I get an e-mail asking me to collate 55(!!!) of my images in JPEG format and send them off for inclusion.  Fair enough, but owing to RL commitments I’ve been too busy to set about the time to collate all the images required…I was planning on doing that this week. I was really disappointed when I requested extra time in response to their last e-mail to be told, nah sorry, not interested, we’ve got to start work on the catalogue! (This was despite their previous e-mail stating that if you needed extra time there was a possibility this could be arranged)Fine, I’ve lucked out..I’m sore and I’m having a whinge, BUT you can’t just ask someone to contribute 55 of their pictures along with an accompanying biography and notes when they live a real life which means they have a job to go to and a house to run. I would have had no problem signing the release form and just letting them copy the pictures from my Flickr-after all they’d seen and selected them in the first place, but enough of my moaning. I’m really sad I won’t be a part of the exhibition, but I do wish all the artists who will be participating the very best of luck with it.

Amanda and Fukmi’s Wedding

Amanda and Fukmi’s Wedding

Over the weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to be Maid of Honour at Amanda and Fukmi’s wedding. It was a lovely event, the vows were beautiful and there was quite a crowd to see the happy couple get hitched:) Of course I shed a tear (I always do at weddings) and even though this is Second Life, the emotions expressed were very genuine….Congratulations Amanda and Fukmi and here’s wishing you both a wonderful Second Life together!
