My friend Whoosh sent me the following quote earlier and I think it’s outstanding. I don’t know where he found it, perhaps on a forum somewhere, so I apologise profusely for not being able to credit the writer ( if you know who wrote it *please* let me know so that I can update) It sums up perfectly, for me anyway, what SL is all about. I also intend to print it out and sellotape it to Jez’s forehead if he comes out with the ‘But it’s only a game line’ EVER again, as I’m beyond fed up with it…
Innovation is not only about making money, it is also about advancing society, improving the human condition. If SL positively contributes to the way in which we communicate, the way in which we relate one to another, then it is innovation. If we have a chance to meet one another without the external cues to which we have been conditioned to judge another acceptable or unacceptable, then it is innovation. If individuals who are differently abled are afforded a social outlet in which their whole mind can be valued, then it is innovation. If people displaced by geography find communities in which they are beloved members rather than spurned outcasts, it is innovation.

In dreams, I walk with you……
(Dontcha just love Roy Orbison?) Just read this blog post about dreaming about SL in RL. This is something I’ve done a few times but each time I’ve woken up and gone ‘WOW!’. I have relatively good dream recall coming to think of it, and my dreams have always been of the technicolour big screen variety. My most vivid one was just before Christmas, where I was flying around the metaverse as my RL self, but a psychedelic version of me. In fact, everything around me was as though it was real, physical and tangible BUT rendered in a SL style. It’s hard to describe, but if you’ve ever experienced it then you’ll know exactly what I mean. I also use a trick when I’m having trouble sleeping..I walk around my SL house, or recount walking around some of the beautiful places in world. It’s amazing how well I can recreate these places in my minds eye. That could be partly due to training I’ve had in visualisation techniques as part of my RL Witchery, but it’s astounding nonetheless. When you can immerse yourself completely in the world to the point where you can make yourself feel the virtual warmth coming from your fireplace then you know you’ve got either an exceptionally vivid imagination, or you are completely mad:) I go for the former, although it’s probably the latter that is true:) Either way I can do it very well..which kind of enhances the experience of being in a virtual world somewhat. I wondered if many of you do that too? Have you found that using Windlight has meant that your virtual experience has become more intense? Be interested to see what you have to say on the subject.

Blue Mars looks pretty!!
..is it wrong that when I started looking at the Blue Mars shots that I almost wet myself with excitement at this shot of some virtual handbags? I think I’m beyond hope…..

Pillow talk in the Kitty & Jez household
So I retire to bed alongside my beloved last night-his book of choice being ‘The Making of Star Wars’, mine being the ‘Second Life Virtual Tourist Guide’. As I snuggle under the duvet the git leans over and whispers lovingly, “Blue Mars is gonna whoop Second Life’s arse”. (What you thought he was going to say something romantic? LOL) Of course this made me a teensy weensy bit cross, so much so that it was tempting to let out a cheek wobbler whilst in a loving embrace, but I held fast. I’ve just had a look, and Blue Mars does indeed look very good, and I wonder how the Lindens feel about this potential threat? What do you think?
