A tribute to Bare Rose….

A tribute to Bare Rose….

Across the blogs it’s been ‘Bare Rose Appreciation Week’, with various writers extolling the virtues of June Dion’s clothing line. I’m a fan also so felt like I should stick my beak in and write my two penneth:) I never seem to visit it enough, but the ‘problem’ is Bare Rose is *BIG*. It takes ages to look around properly, and it often takes a long time for items to rez for me there. This, I think, is partly due to the fact that each time I decide to pay Bare Rose a visit it’s busy, and although that’s never a bad sign it’s a complete bugger when you’re in a frenzied shopping mood! I recall my first visit very clearly purely because I hadn’t been in Second Life very long and was whizzing around visiting places that had been recommended to me by the regulars at ‘The Three Lions’. Bare Rose had been mentioned a few times, so I TP’d over and and was overwhelmed by the vast array of styles on display. It was breath taking;it seemed that there was something wonderful to be found on every panel in the huge wall where June displayed her wares. This was my first experience of a truly vast shopping area filled with some seriously amazing clothing for both male and female avatars and I recall being extremely excited and I spent ages there, literally hours at my PC. I started at the bottom of each wall and worked my way up taking a good look at all the ads on my way. I was hovering precariously in front of the advertising panels and every so often being bashed by avatars with a lot more experience than me whizzing past..it was a completely new experience. At some point I got fed up being battered from pillar to post and decided to explore the sim further, and at this point I discovered the beautiful Bare Rose Spa. What a concept- a spa in a virtual world, but boy was it glorious. Lots of new animations for me to try, such as massages and reflexology (Seriously! A tad pants when you’re alone though..I was a relative noob at this point) and I can clearly recall being sat on a rock in the waterfall in meditation pose, with a yellow budgerigar beside me! Bonkers fun, but extremely cool all the same. Then something unexpected happened.I was clicking haphazardly upon something in the waterfall area and found myself in a sky box. As I was a noob this was the first one I’d ever been transported to, and it turned out to be an eye opener in a myriad of ways. Put simply, there were all sorts of ‘interesting’ beds in private rooms which also featured various items of ‘fun’ equipment and hidden walls. I could hear a horse neighing and eventually worked out that there was indeed an equine presence in the skybox, the reason for which I’ll leave for your imagination, but suffice to say the place was a real eye opener! This is my favourite Bare Rose outfit, it’s the GL Mini Kimono and it’s a beauty. The pack also includes a white and pink version..dare I say that the pink variant is actually really nice? Another reason to venture over to Bare Rose, it is amazingly cheap considering teh quality and vast array of styles..any avatar worth their virtual salt has visited this place at least once, and owns a few items created by June’s fair hand. So to celebrate all that is Bare Rose Tokyo, there’s going to be a bit of a party, ‘Dare to BareRose’, on December 11, from 18.30-21.30 SLT. DJ Summerkat will be playing the choons, and there will be cash prizes for the best dressed in Bare Rose clothing…I think that we could potentially all be in with a chance of winning that one then, because you can’t really go wrong in ‘Bare Rose’ fashion can you?
Erm..is that a warm jumper Kitty?

Erm..is that a warm jumper Kitty?

So the Shinjles sent me a very excited message in world telling me about this amazing store that she’d found and that she couldn’t wait to show me….neither could I, because despite her pink fetish she has really good taste, so to say I was anticipating a treat would be an understatement. Oh I wasn’t disappointed either-the store is called, ‘Paradisis’ and this jumper is one of a range of delightful, quality wares that are available in store. Now, before you start, no I don’t need to buy any mothballs, it’s supposed to look like this…don’t you think it’s *fab*? The jumper is called ‘Hot Winter’ and includes a mad bra top to wear underneath, that has one cup exposed to allow for the jumper over the top to look, well, a tad saucy! (Note to SL expectant mothers, would probably make a great nursing bra…;) I love the patch and pin elements included on the jumper- the prim work and texture are excellent and doesn’t it look an utter treat with these trousers from Street Magic? ‘Hot Winter’ is available in a range of colour options, as are the leather breetches, and if you buy both you’ll find that you get ample change from L$400..speaking of ample, my norks look fab in this, dontcha think?!

Tobogganing Time!

Tobogganing Time!

Eeh, when I were a lass I had to make do with a coal sack to go sledging in…nothing so fancy as a proper sledge, let alone a ruddy toboggan! Fortunately Liz Gealach, uber-creatrix behind the wonderful ‘Thistle Homes’ has released the perfect snow-vehicle for some serious Xmas shenanigans! It has space for three, so that’s you and two of your bestest chums. Alas, none of my chums were around when I got this, but I just had to show it you as I’ve been zooming around with a big grin on my chops ever since I bought it! It costs L$350, BUT it has multiple poses for you and your chums to adopt whilst you’re having your snowy fun. It also looks really lovely and traditional and will provide you with hours of enjoyment and some fantastic photo opportunities…I’ll post more piccies when there are three of us around to enjoy it, but If you cannot wait until then pop along to ‘Thistle Homes’ in world and buy a first aid kit on your way home..you’re gonna need it!

It’s a kind of Street Magic!

It’s a kind of Street Magic!

No, I’m not talking about the annoying shenanigans that David Blaine gets up to ..Feast your eyes on this little festive beauty! Finished? Now focus on the outfit I’m wearing instead, ain’t it scrummy yummy? Last night I was like a kitty in a freshly made litter-box, scrabbling around in a frenzy and whooping with joy at the bounty that had been dropped on me in world by a new name to the grid, ‘Street Magic’. There was LOADS of stuff included which I’m going to bore you with over the next week and on my Flickr pictures (Left hand side, down a bit..bingo!) and this delightful little ensemble was included. It’s called ‘ ~Street Magic~’Black Sunday Red Set’ ( L$275) Now on first glance you may think this is a tad ‘Meh’, but ho-ho, not so! (See what I’m doing here? Festive Kitty, available for your Christmas function-book now!) Ahem.

Back to the outfit which is decidedly un-meh indeed. For starters, there’s the dress..it’s a nice, plain black dress with a skirt just the right side of sticky-outy for my tastes. The top is in a plain t-shirt style, but shows off enough of my gargantuan norkage for me and the rest of the grid to be happy:) So far so what I hear you cry, there’re plenty of plain dresses in-world to choose so why should I opt for this one? Well, let me illuminate you dear reader  by shoving  your virtual chops in the direction of the wonderful fabric and texture that make this little black number a cut above the rest. Look, look, LOOK at the detailing! You see? Absolutely fabbo texture choice selected for this piece, and this skirt pleating is absolutely spot on, don’t you think? It’s PERFECT for adding nice winter accessories such as huge scarves and whatever you like to. Add skates, and you have the ideal skating frock..add a pashmina, jacket and some posh boots and you have a chic outfit for going out on the town.  Add  piercings, tattoos and probably the entire range of Gritty Kitty goodies and you have a grungeworthy number just right for hanging out like a virtual emo on street corners. It all works with this fab little frock.

Not only that, the dress comes with these fantastic red arm bracers which look uber cool don’t they? The patterned tights that you can just see peeking into the picture are part of the set too. I ruddy well love it. For the picture I’ve dressed my frock up with the Luster Emerald Skin by Curio which adds a great dash of colour, and looks festive to boot. If you want to go the whole hog and look Christmassy without being overtly blatant about it then I suggest you add this fabbo hair that I’m wearing, which is the latest release by Deviant Kitties. It’s called ‘Wynter’ and get used to it folks cos you’re going to see it *everywhere* Deviant Kitties was packed with avatars trying this style on and no wonder, it’s great fun and looks great in whichever colour option you choose. I’m especially impressed with the Christmas edition which is on sale at a measly L$75 ( it’s a white tipped red shade, very Santa) but for the picture I’ve opted to wear black. I bought a pack of three black shades for L$200. In this pose you don’t really get the full effect of the hair, but it features a modern take on the Princess Leia updo with two buns hoisted high up on your bonce. It’s enhanced with these Christmas lights, which are so quirky and really brought a smile to my chapped, cracked lips (It’s cold) But even better than that the style also gives you the option of wearing texture change ear muffs which means you can co-ordinate with your fave winter accessories like I mentioned before. What’s not to love? I think this is a brilliant outfit that has been superbly executed and I’m going to be plugging Street Magic to death this week because of the rest of the wares they’ve sent me to try..they really are that good. Click HERE for the clothing and HERE for the hair:) I’m off for some mulled wine and a nice sit down.  All this fashion happiness has made me feel quite fatigued.

( Gosh I really do talk batshit sometimes don’t I?)
