I’m completely in-love with ‘Desperate Romantics’, a wonderful drama series on BBC2 at the moment, about the Pre-Raphaelite movement. The bbc has produced an excellent website companion to the series which you can visit by clicking HERE. It tells you all about the drama, the cast and most important of all, the characters involved. You can also catch up with the episodes that have already been broadcast, and they are well worth viewing. The drama is VERY loosely based on fact and although it makes for enthralling viewing, I’m sure that it has the purist’s up in arms. I can sort of understand why that would be, BUT I’m sure this programme will introduce more people to the work of these brilliant artists more than any old dusty, dry textbook would. In fact, watch out for a Pre-Raphaelite revival ( there’s always one around Autumn though isn’t there?) Vogue has already mentioned the ravishing red locks as worn by Amy Manson in her role portraying Lizzie Siddall. I highly recommend that you check it out.
Some of the female characters are stunning and there’s a lot of nudity in this series (male and female-woot!) with loads of different body-shapes on view, so I thought that I’d create some shapes in honour of some of the characters.
They aren’t verbatim likenesses, but they are inspired by them and are my way of paying homage to a great TV series, and in turn to the amazing people behind it…this is my first, coming soon!
