Deedee is my best friend in RL, and in SL obviously.  It was me that introduced her to the wonders of SL (oopsy, my fault) and I have had so much fun with her in it.  Dee and I became friends about 1999.  We met via the Internet, as she was the manager of a Pagan chat room called ‘Spirit of Nature’ on the now defunct MSN chatroom network.  It was astonishingly successful, and enabled me to realise that there were lots of other wierdos like me out there;P We soon became firm friends, and it got really scary when we realised that we lived about 8 miles away from each other! We met up, and it all went on from there really. From boyfriend dramas to Kylie concerts- we’ve shared fantastic times, good and bad. I will never forget the day she rang me and told me she had Breast cancer, nor will I forget how brave she was, and continues to be when enduring all the horrible treatment that she has gone through. It really hit me one afternoon when she came to visit..she’d recently started chemo and we both have long hair.  Or had, in Deedee’s case-she sat at the dining room table and said, ‘My hair is starting to fall out, look’, and pulled a humungous chunk out of her beautiful red locks.  I was mortified, and she could see that..I managed to hang on to my composure until she left and sobbed buckets. It was real..this was happening to my beautiful friend.  The next time I saw her she’d shaved her head completely ( suits her actually, she has a nice shaped head!) Occasionally she wore wigs, but tended to stick to scarves…all the time retaining her beauty and inner grace, a shining example to us all.  Alas, the cancer has been an utter bastard. It is relentless in the toll it takes on her body.  It’s now in her bones, in her lungs, in her liver and recently she had surgery on her brain to remove a tumour.  Brave Dee, not ONCE has she ever whinged, moaned or complained to me.  Seriously, not once.  She has taken it in her stride. However, it is now starting to take it’s toll.  At the weekend it seemed that she had liver failure, due to an increase in size of the tumours.  She also texted me the following words late on Jan 8th ” Going to try to sleep now, tho I’m on the bean bag again cos it hurts too much to lie down.  Even hurts to cry! Love you loads” I wept like a baby when I read that.  I hate to think of her enduring all this and I wish I could fix it, but I can’t..and that is the most frustrating thing of all. Anyway, like I said earlier, today is her Rezz day, and in her honour the ‘Crown & Pearl’ in Oropesa are running a week long fund raiser to raise monies for Cancer Research.  PLEASE come along, especially today.  I’m going to try and get Deedee there later on tonight ( when she is rested) so that she can be with everyone even if only for a short while. Deedee you have been the best friend to me that any girl could ever wish for and I love you so very very much.  You have filled my life with happy times and fabulously funny memories and made me a much better person for it. Fate brought us together chuck, you are my inspiration and I utterly adore you.
