Join the dots…I’ll get naked, you use your ‘special’ pen…

Ahem! OK, so I recently blogged about how unutterably wonderful I thought REDGRAVE skins were (and of course I haven’t changed my opinion on that in any way, shape or form) but there’s a problem,  and that is once you find an amazing skin you start looking for the next one, and the next..and basically you get completely addicted to skin shopping. You’re always on the lookout for new make-ups and details and tones and, well..it all gets a little bit silly to be perfectly honest. I don’t give a monkeys though, because I’ve just found yet more skin perfection, this time from a company called ‘Curio‘. I’d never heard of them until a FashCon announcement pointed me in their direction..(Damn you Fashcon! /me shakes fist in mock anger) These skins tick all the right boxes, but the make-ups are really something else. It’s like you’ve tumbled head-first into the cosmetics counter in Boots and have sprayed ‘Dazzle Dust’ by Barry M and MAC eyeshadow everywhere (wouldn’t that be fun!)The eyshadow options are to *die* for and I got all breathless and funny when faced with all the choices.  For a start, the skin and make up I’m wearing here is from the ‘Luster’ range, and it’s called ‘Russet’. It’s PERFECT for this season and if you look closely you can see…freckles!! YAY! Kitty is a freckly chops! They are *fabbo* and each skin offers you the choice of with or without freckles , which is just ace. The more I get into skins the more I like the options certain designers offer, and the value that moles, freckles and even small scars add to your appearance should never be discounted.  I’m afraid it does cost to stand out in the crowd, but if that is your aim then a decent skin is your principle investment.  Redgrave skins are pricey, as are Curio, but they’re a seriously worthy investment. Anyways, the reason I’ve treated myself to a few of these is because the eyeshadows and the detailing in some of the make-up options is just staggering. Take the one I’m wearing, ‘Russet’.  The actual eye-make up, the under-eye shading and the lipstick are just divine.  The Dollyrock post a bit further down this page also features me wearing one of the make-ups for this skin (as well as Curio hair!) and it’s called ‘Nightshade’, but there’s nothing deadly about it..the colour choices are simply perfect.  Another one that really blew me away was ‘Emerald’, which as you can imagine is green, but that’s where my previous ‘Dazzle Dust’ metaphor comes in, as the green is so glittery and luminescent that it really does look as though eyeshadow has been scattered across the lids.  It’s not solid blocks of colour, but shading, shading and MORE shading that makes these beauties stand out from the crowd. I want them all and there are *many* packs to choose from.  There’s one called ‘Ivy’ that has, well, ivy-leaf patterned eyeshadow ( I know this sounds mad but trust me it works!) and I could go on but that would be spoiling your fun. Go and try these beauties on,  just for the sheer hell of it, because I KNOW that you will love them! Even if you don’t need anymore skins you should just pay Curio a visit for a seriously fun trying on session..just don’t blame me when you break your Linden-piggy bank!
Noam Sprocket- He puts the Gritty in the Kitty..

Noam Sprocket- He puts the Gritty in the Kitty..

Well, he might not put his Gritty in the Kitty, I don’t know what his preferences are, but if he ever feels like meeting this Kitty and discussing Gritty insertion he is *moar* than welcome! ( No not a spelling mistake, am overdosing on Lolcats at the moment)
Ahem. Backtrack..Deep breath and exhale into normality…ok, two words folks-GRITTY KITTY. I *need* to meet Noam Sprocket, I really do. First of all to tell him I love him, his amazing work and his blog which is a GREAT read, but also to tell him that his work is the glue that binds so many of my outfits together. (And also to say I hope you’re feeling better and give his tummy a gentle pat:)You see, it is my sincere opinion that you can’t do Neko/Grunge/Emo effectively UNLESS you incorporate a smidgen of Noam’s wonderfulness into your ensemble. Here is my evidence: this is the guy who created the AMAZING ‘Art Crime Bag’, which if you don’t own by now then you deserve to have bogeys flicked at you by irate marmosets. Noam seems to be completely at one with the zeigeist and he’s bang on when it comes to all his releases…I ALWAYS get excited when I see a group notice from him because I KNOW that he will have created something wonderful that will be worn by me for the rest of my virtual life. The other thing that Iove about Noam is that he has photographs on his blog that he’s used as source material to inspire his creations, and they’re pretty hot too, plus it just goes to show how ruddy talented he is that his designs are virtually spot on recreations of the snaps. Kitty LIKE very much…so if you’re in the mind for some shopping then click here to be whiskered away to happy:)
Abigail’s Party….

Abigail’s Party….

I don’t actually know if I’ve ever blogged DollyRock before, and if I haven’t then that’s a bit of a snub to Cherry Cheevers-the owner and designer behind the brand-as her label ‘Dollyrock’ is synonymous with Second Life fashion and is one of the most well established emporiums on the grid, having been in existence since 2006. Cherry creates all kinds of outfits; formal, casual, evening and parytwear, fancy dress, shoes and accessories. She’s very dedicated and constantly releases new items to the grid, and has a huge fanbase in world. I’l be honest though,  I guess the reason I’ve shied away from DollyRock is because a lot of the outfits aren’t really to my taste, which isn’t to dismiss the quality of Cherry’s wares, it’s just that they don’t necessarily always do it for me. (That’s fair enough- the grid would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing wouldn’t it?) As regular readers are aware, I have a particular hate for a certain kind of skirt, as well as babydoll dresses, and these often appear amongst Cherry’s collection. But my dislike for these items doesn’t mean that I automatically dismiss the rest of her releases, and I always make a point of checking out her new stuff. Cherry’s blog is excellent-full of colour and a great showcase for her work, and there’s a lot to see!  For a start she does a cracking line in stockings, which no neko/emo girl should be without, and I really love Prudie  which could best be described as ‘formally naughty’.  I also rate some of her more ‘rock chick’ outfits very highly..I’m thinking Bailey in particular.  When I received a new releases announcement on Sunday it was without hesitation that I tp’d over to check out the latest goodies in store, two ensembles called ‘Abigail’ and ‘Lynne’.
Abigail
is really lovely and casual, the kind of outfit that you’d throw on for stroll on a crisp Autumn day. You know the kind of day I mean, when it’s a teensey weensy bit cold but you can still enjoy a little sunshine on your legs as you walk through the falling leaves.. Ah, how romantic! OK, so there’s a lot to love about this: for a start I really adore the texture that has been chosen here, It really does create a feeling that you’re wearing a warm, chunky knit and I love the great cowl neck prim attachment that looks very good indeed. No complaints there then, and I must mention the super cute detailing on the pocket, which features ipod earphones hanging loose with the briefest suggestion that there’s an I-pod touch stashed away in there! I love natty little features like that, plus Cherry has supplied the jumper with and without the earbuds so if you feel like going for that quiet stroll without anything sticking out of your pockets then you can. The accompanying pants are more than adequte, with the prim collar, cuffs and belt completing a very nifty casual look indeed. It’s great fun dressing this one up with my Panjen fingerless gloves and my Gritty Kitty Schmoops:) It’s available in four colour options which are all rather nice; I opted for the dusky pink ( no red or black alas) and I think it looks very well indeed, but what would make me really happy would be to see it in some Autumnal tones with different coloured pant options… just a bijou suggestion-ette there!
By contrast I was really disappointed by Lynne, Cherry’s other release. It’s a little black dress with a lovely hand drawn design which is what tempted me to buy it in the first place……the hand embellishments are very well rendered and look absolutely fine BUT when I added the babydoll skirt (yes I know I don’t like babydolls especially but I fancied a change) it just looked wrong, simply because the black in the dress and in the babydoll overlay don’t match.  Now, I’m not technical enough to know why, but my guess is that there’s a reason they don’t match exactly, because I doubt that an accomplished designer like Cherry would let that one fly unless she absolutely had to. Fussy mare that I am though it just didn’t work for me. (I haven’t tried it in any other colour options so I have no idea if it looks better/worse in those) I’d still recommend that you check it out though, nothing works better than taking a look for yourself so please give Dollyrock a try by clicking HERE.
(Oh, and I’ll be talking about the uber-nommy skin I chose to compliment in a later post…watch this space!)
Dance me to the end of love…

Dance me to the end of love…

..at this point I have to confess I’m not a fan of Jack Vettriano, But I AM a fan of Tribute Island. It’s just such a wonderful concept, a lasting virtual tribute to those that we’ve loved and lost from spheres as diverse as film and literature to servicemen and women who have fallen in wars both recent and in the past. I’ve blogged it before, quite a few times, but it continues to offer the jaded virtual traveller something new and interesting to enjoy…and enjoy it I did on Friday, as the island hosted a concert by Second Life musician and singer/songwriter Cylindrian Rutabaga, who performed a tribute to Eva Cassidy. I was alas a little late, which meant I missed her cover of ‘Fields of Gold’ ( I’d wanted to hear that as it was played at Dee’s funeral) but I still had a thoroughly wonderful time. I even got to try out my tango with the Island’s director, Nikk Huett, and if you look very carefully you’ll spot a wee ratty friend on his shoulder. He was very good on his feet too! You’ll find a link to Nikk’s blog, ‘Lactose the Intolerant’ on my blogroll to the left and it’s well worth a visit:)
