Farewell my lovelies…

Farewell my lovelies…

So Linden Lifestyles, the UBER fashion blog has announced that it is closing. Sob, sniff, weep. I’m gutted, as are many others across the metaverse. The wonderfully named Salome Strangelove and Sabrina Doolittle are hanging up their couture quills and moving onto pastures new.

Where Linden Lifestyles led, we could only follow, our mouths gaping open in wonder and awe….After all, how could you not love a blog where the chief writers took their names from films starring style icon Audrey Hepburn? For me, they set the benchmark for the rest of us SL fashion bloggers, and we could only look on with envy as we saw how Salome and Sabrina found the perfect blogging formula and utterly nailed it. It was essential reading, and every morning without fail, as soon as I’ve switched my laptop on I’ve navigated over to their site for the very latest updates..

Their writing has been a huge source of inspiration to me. I’ve always tried to emulate, not imitate their wonderful style. I didn’t want Kittywitchin to become a fashion blog originally, of course it’s developed that way, but I’m very conscious that I could never attempt to create something as enigmatic and entertaining as Linden Lifestyles. Of course I cannot say farewell to the girls properly without mentioning the rather lovely Daisyblue Hefferman who by posting her weekly round-ups of the best new releases on the grid made Monday mornings fun for me again:)

A final point, how could you not love a blog that regularly featured the word ‘Squee’? For a girl who grew up adoring the mad writing style of ‘Smash Hits’ and ‘Zero’ it was destined to appeal…

So ladies, I take my hat off to you all at Linden Lifestyles, and wish you all the very best for the future. May all the projects you work on in future be as satisfying for you as I’m sure LL was..and heartfelt thanks from a complete and utter slob for helping me to *finally* acquire taste and a sense of style, even if it’s only in the virtual world:)

Completely uncalled for bijou rantette…

Completely uncalled for bijou rantette…

I’ve just been reading some of my posts and this is turning into a bit of a fashion blog in a lot of ways..I’m not apologising for that BUT I want to make it perfectly clear that even though I’m SL clothing obsessed the intention of the blog has only ever been to write about all things Kitty.  It’s just most of the time those things are Kitty shopping. However, joy of joys-it looks as though Sabrina and Salome are back from the mists of time and will be writing about fashion properly in their wondrous Linden Lifestyles stylee.  This makes me happy. They are fashionistas, I am not.  I know this, because at the moment I am sat in blue baggy jogging bottoms ( Primark, natch) and a Tesco cheapo blue t-shirt vest thingy. The fact is I can’t fit in any jeans at the mo, cos I have stitches right where the fastener would be, so I have an excuse for being an absolute slob at the moment. (I might change my name to Onslow and be damned) However, I don’t *just* hold out for those two fans of Audrey ( Hepburn) I do read a LOT of fashion blogs and I love it, and they work-because I can guarantee the majority of my purchases are heavily influenced by the reviews I have just digested over my bowl of coco pops. ( Yes, I read blogs in the morning, yes I eat coco pops and YES I am 34 years old. Deal.)  There is an ever burgeoning fashion industry in SL and it is an important industry at that.  Heck, wasn’t Giorgio Armani in-world last week?  There is an astonishing wealth of designing talent in world and the RL would do itself a favour if it started to recognise that.  Hence there being fashion blogs by the zillion, and quality ones at that. Why is this so?  Well, because SL has made designer fashion affordable-seriously, think about it!  In RL places like ‘Last Call’ would be well out of my league.  The most expensive item of clothing I have ever purchased is a dress from Wallis at just under £60.  I couldn’t ever afford a designer label, but hey don’t feel sorry for me as I’m not bothered.  (Believe it or not when I’ve got a bit of slap on and am polished up I know I’m stunning, designerfrock or not!;P) But in game I can afford to treat myself to clothes I can only dream about..and I do frequently.  I think it goes hand in hand with my love of dressing up dolls as a kid, and making paper dolls and dressing them too…it’s just this time I get to be the doll, and it is a fantastic experience.  It’s great therapy, and I make no apologies for being immensely proud of Kitty and the way she is styled…So please forgive me once in a while whilst I witter on about gowns and swishy things, because the majority of the time I’ll be telling you about getting sloshed at the 3L and having a fight with a cabbage. Or something.

PS This rant was brought to you via a combination of nice painkillers and a small glass of something Australian. BAD KITTY!
