Witchy Wednesdays Part II – Inside the Artemis Shrine

Witchy Wednesdays Part II – Inside the Artemis Shrine

The Sacred Cauldron sim is one of the busiest Pagancentric sims in the metaverse, with an enthusiastic team of spiritually-inclined avatars who work together to provide a spiritual retreat within the confines of Second Life.

Actually, they do this exceptionally well, and one of the nicest services that they perform are the daily morning meditations. At 6am SLT (that’s 2pm UK) every morning, in the Artemis Shrine, they perform a daily blessing via voice. Avatars assemble and take a seat as one of the attending priestesses reads ‘The Charge Of The Goddess.’ (Obviously you need to have the voice function enabled to hear her)

After the reading of the charge, each avatar types into chat a message expressing gratitude for something in their lives that they are especially thankful for upon that day, or alternatively asking for strength from the Goddess. It’s a relaxed atmosphere so you can pretty much go with the flow. Finally attendees are led on a guided meditation to raise energy for the day ahead. It’s a lovely way to pass thirty minutes and there is a genuine feeling of warmth amongst the group that assembles, and as you can see by the picture there are always plenty of participants! I try and visit whenever I can really recommed it. Incidentally, Belladonna Arrowroot is usually in attendence and she is High Priestess of the Covenant of WISE, Church of Wicca.  Belladonna is lovely and very approachable, not at all grandiose as some Pagan hierarchy can be, plus she has her own website which I highly recommend. Oh, and a final note..my hands tingle like mad when I attend rituals in-world, and were absolutely buzzing after this. I presume this is because I’m Reiki attuned, but I’d be interested to read if any other SL Pagan folk experience the same! Let me know on the comments section below if you do, and I very much hope to see you there..oh, and be sure to sign up for news and messages from the Scared Cauldron and Pagan News groups while you are on site! Witchy Wednesdays – ‘Goddess Garden Table’ by Bryanna Morgath

Witchy Wednesdays – ‘Goddess Garden Table’ by Bryanna Morgath

I haven’t done a ‘Witchy Wednesday’ for a couple of weeks- apologies for that. Oftentimes it’s because I haven’t found a killer item to share, or a new location that you simply have to visit. This week though I’ve been trolling through Xstreet instead, and I wanted to feature the work of one particular creator that I really like, Bryanna Morgath.

Bryanna makes fabulous items at very Witch-friendly prices.
There are thirteen (count em!) pages of her creations upon X-Street, and her work varies from jewellery with a Pagan bent, stained glass paintings, full altar sets, BOS and individual witch items including candles, chalices, geodes and athames.
I wanted to tell you about two of her creations today.
First up is her rather wonderful ‘Goddess Garden Table’. This is a very pretty item to feature on a patio, or if you don’t have a garden in Second Life it brings a touch of the outdoors in for you to enjoy.
This is a purely decorative item, but don’t let that put you off please because it features great textures and is beautifully arranged and acts as a gentle way of displaying your spiritual inclinations towards visitors to your dwelling. I also appreciate the fact that this comes with a temp rezzer, resulting in this item, when placed correctly, being just one prim in value!
I’ve actually installed mine in a corner in my sky box, as you can see from the photo.
The Garden table contains following items:
– 6 pots with plants
– Goddess statue
– Silver candles
– Boline
– 3 gold pentagrams
– some leaves and nuts
– seeds
– incense
– 3 crystal pointers.

As I stated before this is a decorative item only so you can’t remove items from the table surface, but it really doesn’t detract from the worthiness of this piece. Altars are ten a penny, but this is something different and very special indeed, perfect for Hedgewitches! It costs L$102 from Xstreet.
In fact, Bryanna, if you’re reading this I have a request please? Please can you create a companion item to the Goddess Garden in the shape of a small altar? ( I already have the large one that you make but I feel a co-coordinating altar set-up would be a real bonus, especially if the same technology is applied)
I must also honourably mention her BOLINES.

No, I’m not being rude!

A boline is a special, sacred knife used by witches to cut herbs and flowers for placement upon the altar, to be used as offerings or for use in spell work. It’s traditionally white-handled with a curved, crescent shaped blade. I’ve seen many bolines in real life; some are huge scythe-like affairs that can do serious damage, while others are small, tiny almost. A lot of times they are used as decoration rather than in any ritual work, but they’re a great addition to any Witches inventory in real life or second, and luckily for us Bryanna makes and sells two rather lovely examples.

First up is a non-scripted gorgeous ‘Chakra Boline’, featuring crystals upon the blade that co-ordinate in gemstone colours with the chakra points upon the human body. It’s a very simple, elegant bolin which is nicely textured and is a highly affordable L$49.

Slighty more special is her beautiful ‘Gemstone Boline’ Again, this costs L$49 but it has a lot of features. Every prim is texture changeable; there are 52 different gems in total, 4 different stones, 21 different metals and 12 different symbols including the Pentacle, Triquetra and Eye Of Horus amongst others. It’s an absolute bargain for the price and perfect to use in ritual. I’d seriously recommend this if you have a coven in-world, and even if you don’t I personally feel that it’s a must have for any Second Life Witch.

So there you go, some essential items from Bryanna Morgath, and I strongly suggest you check these out along with the rest of her collection very soon..I’m very sure that you’ll be ‘Kitty pleased’ that you did!

PS Bryanna has a store in-world too..It’s at the fabulous ‘Trading Post’ Area upon Gaia Rising.

M.A.C. Weddings-A wonderful way to wed in-world

M.A.C. Weddings-A wonderful way to wed in-world

I mentioned my friend Altair a few posts ago when I was talking about Bunnehs, but what I didn’t tell you is that Altair is a photographer and has now gone into the virtual wedding business as part owner of M.A.C. Weddings. ( The initials stand for Altair, her husband Mo and her friend Crane)
Weddings and wedding services are ten a penny in Second Life as you may or may not already be aware, and are pretty big business too. Because avatars can become partnered it stands to reason that they are going to want to take it a step further by holding a virtual wedding, and why not? There’s a plethora of beautiful dresses in world for the bride, suave and sophisticated suits for the groom, and Second Life embraced alternative weddings long before any states legalised Gay marriages.

If you can’t have the wedding of your dreams in real life you certainly can in Second Life, and many people do just that.

Castles and cathedrals, clouds and dungeons have all hosted virtual nuptials and now M.A.C Weddings have thrown their hat into the ring, but the question is can they step up to the mark? Well, from what I have seen (and heard) yes they most certainly can with a cherry on top. This weekend saw a ‘Martha’s Vineyard’ style service managed by M.A.C. and I was fortunate enough to be invited over for a sneak preview of the location and it is astonishing. Think classy with a capital ‘C’, because this place is pixel-perfect and conjures up a romantic atmosphere, tinged with a smudge of drama provided by the rocky island  in the background. The ceremony itself is held against this backdrop of crashing waves upon a tasteful wooden deck.

To reach the deck the bridal party must walk down towards it across a sandy path strewn with rose petals and as it does so pass through a beautiful vine-covered pergola that separates the main area of the beach from the wedding party. Again, this is a simple touch but one that really works and adds to the ambiance. Guests are seated on individual chairs, with each row gently highlighted by a single white lily.

After the wedding ceremony, it’s back along the path towards the Gazebo, for photographs and congratulations before a skip across the sand into the enchanting cottage for the reception.

Just like in real life, receptions in Second Life either make or break a wedding. All too often the memories of the stunning service are clouded by cringeworthy thoughts of the cheesy venue festooned with pose balls and all kinds of Second Life unsightliness that you don’t need to make an appearance in your wedding album.  Fortunately there are no worries here; with the reception being held in a cottage style structure that is textured in muted shades and decorated with panache.   The lilies that were featured on the chairs outside are here in abundance adorning tables and stands around the room, which is decorated with soft lighting and cool, crisp white linen.  This is evidently a silver service event, and one that is sure to be talked about by all those who were lucky enough to attend for months to come.

M.A.C. Weddings don’t just offer this wedding venue, they also can provide up to SIX different types of wedding to meet your requirements, including a rustic Elven style wooded glen setting, nothing is too much trouble and wedding package prices vary but are amongst some of the most reasonable on the grid. (Attributes vary but can  include venue, photographs, officiant and wedding DJ)

The M.A.C Weddings blog can be found HERE (It’s just been started and is very much a work in progress but will soon feature details of the packages on offer and the costings involved) or you can contact Altair Orellana in-world to discuss your individual requirements.  If you are considering getting married than you really should give M.A.C. a try; I’m not joking when I say it is probably the nicest virtual wedding location and hosting service that I have ever experienced.  (Oh, and before you accuse me of nepotism yes, I know Altair is a chum BUT I have to be totally honest and say that even if she wasn’t I’d be bleating about this location to everyone regardless, it’s that pretty and absolutely perfect!)
