Snapshot_003…pentacles.

Well, you can’t, and my inventory is bursting at the seams with them, but I always like it when someone attempts to arrange them on a necklace in an unusual way.

Sure, a plain pentacle on a chain is always nice, but how about something that’s got a bit more oomph? I found this great pentacle necklace at ALTEREGO. It’s  a new release and is MOD, and comes in 3 colour packs; silver+onyx, coral+pank and teal+gold.  There’s a fatpack also available. I think it looks pretty nifty with a jumper but because of the style I think it would look great worn with something more dramatic, especially at a Yule ritual. What do you think? I SUPPORT BELLEZA

I SUPPORT BELLEZA

Real life has been hectic for the past few days (Annual Christmas Party. Free bar. That’s all you need to know!) so I’ve not actually logged in much this week, but boy oh boy when I did I was HORRIFIED to learn that someone has filed a DMCA against BELLEZA.

I mean, seriously? Belleza?

Yup, someone has decided to cry foul over their mesh body. Come on!  Anyone with half a brain knows how long their ‘Venus’ mesh body was in development, and it’s still very much a work in progress being constantly tweaked, twiddled and refined with a number of updates already sent out to existing owners.

But it gets worse;  not only does the team have to deal with the DMCA but according to a recently published press release on the official blog it would seem that the Belleza crew have been bullied something rotten recently, and that is completely infuriating to me. It sounds like a proper campaign against them. Why does this happen? We’re all ADULTS behind our bloody keyboards aren’t we? Can we not just approach our virtual lives with the common sense that we carry with us in our real lives, is that too much to ask? The amount of griefing that has been occurring at their sim is ridiculous too, and something I have not encountered in-world for many years. (I mean come on, griefing is still a thing? Oh, do f*ck off you tiresome trolls!)

I sometimes wear a mesh body, sometimes I don’t. Sometimes it’s SLink Physique, other times it is Belleza Venus. I love the fact that I am able to pick and choose from two equally scrumptious products, and why shouldn’t I? They’re both great and have offered me yet another level to my Second Life adventures, and I adore them equally for it.

The same goes for the skins that I choose to wear. Some days I want to wear Belleza, other days it’s Nar Mattaru. Sometimes I’ll wear a different skin completely, like my recent discovery from LUMAE. It doesn’t matter, it’s about what makes me feel good on the day I wear it, and over the years that has consistently been BELLEZA.  Do a search on this blog, and see how many times that brand  is mentioned. (No, I’m not on their blogger-list either, I’m just a fan!)  As much as I love all the skins I wear, and I am completely in awe of some of the newer and upcoming skin designers across the grid, I often revert back to my old faithful Belleza skins.

That’s why I’m so very sad that this DMCA has been filed, because it upsets me to think of all the hard work that has gone into establishing Bellezza over the years.  They don’t deserve to have their sales impacted because of this.

The repercussions from an incident like this are far-reaching. In-world jealousy and envy have once again  resulted in suffering and although I’m sure that Tricky Boucher, Shyla Diggs and Felicity Blumenthal are going to be more than happy to face their accusers head-on it’s clearly something that they just shouldn’t have to endure.

Incidentally, I have no knowledge of who has raised this DMCA. In some ways I’d like to know who it is, because if I did, and they’re a content creator or store owner that I know and love, I would never purchase anything from them ever again. But in other ways I don’t want to know; what if they’re a Plurk friend for example? Or someone I really admire in Second Life? Perish the thought:(

Like many bloggers across the grid I wanted to do something to show my support for Belleza, so I trotted off to Uber and treated myself to the newly released ‘Eva’ skin (makeup 6/medium tone).  After grabbing my mesh body, I zoomed into a sandbox and took this snap. I think I look bloody gorgeous and THAT is mainly because of the skin and body that I am wearing, and will keep wearing as long as my arse looks south.

I’m PROUD to wear Belleza skins.

Here’s hoping all this bloody DMCA nonsense will blow over with minimal harm done to what is one of the most well-loved brands in Second Life.

The Glory Of Glamping!

The Glory Of Glamping!

If you’re looking for something VERY special for a Christmas gift for someone totally wonderful in your life I have JUST the thing, especially if you’re not short of a few Lindens! Guys you would  be foolish to miss out on the latest release from the ever awesome RIA BAZAR.

tent_007

It’s funny; I was only thinking about Ria last week.  I was considering how she’d not released anything since the brilliance that was her TORONTO series, and wondering if she was OK. Turns out she’s been doing wonderful RL stuff like getting married (Congratulations!) but now she’s back making awesome Second Life creations like this, the ‘Glamping Set’

Backtrack; if you don’t know what Glamping is, it’s like posh camping. (‘Glamping’ comes from ‘Glamorous camping’) Now, I’ve only been camping once in deepest, darkest Norfolk, and although it was enjoyable it wasn’t an experience I’d like to repeat.  For a start,  I had to inflate my air-bed every night and I was waking up in the morning with a sore back because it had deflated as I dozed;  and let’s not even talk about the weather. It was anything BUT glamorous, that’s for sure!

Glamping however is a different concept; all the accoutrements of a hotel room but in the great outdoors.  It’s incredibly luxurious and something I would like to try in real life.  Sadly, you require a small mortgage to be able to experience it yourself.  It may be in a ‘tent’, but it’s at premier room rates and something only the very rich and fabulous seem to be able to afford.

So thank goodness for Second Life, because I can enjoy the glory of glamping without having to wear wellies that leak  or worrying that the gas stove won’t light.

If you buy the whole set you’ll find two tents (large and small) and three pre-made furniture settings in rezzers, for super-quick setup. No moaning about lost tent pegs here! The tents are spacious (even the small one) and  made with the attention to detail you would expect from a Ria Bazar design. The tents are textured perfectly, with the perfect choice of canvas and even a hardwood floor base.  Not only that, but there are lanterns hanging from the tent support beams, and the doors (tent-flaps) open and close beautifully.

There are two furniture sets included: a double bedroom for couples with a writing desk, and a single bedroom option, for a single person or a child ( You can Rez another bed in the smaller tent and have it as a double, should you so wish.  There is ample space available to do this)  This is where things start to get really interesting, because as usual Ria has created some spectacular furniture boasting a myriad of options for interaction and personalisation. The beds are beautifully made and look sumptuous and ready to sink into with texture change options and covers that you can actually snuggle under. , and include, without a doubt in my mind, some of the BEST animations that you’ll find in-world.

I’m not just talking about sitting and laying down animations(you know the usual bog-standard Second Life fayre), but a number of different sleep styles along with activities such as breakfast in bed, making a phone call, reading, drinking coffee and even some unusual additions such as being Ill!) There are also adult animations included (in the double bed) to allow for some spectacular intimate moments in the confines of your luxurious tent. The animations include automatic rezzable, wearable props to bring the experience even more to life, and I can honestly say these look brilliant. (Trust me when I say this, breakfast in bed has NEVER looked more enticing!)

Never one to skimp on details, Ria’s included night stands that are texture change and incorporate items inside the drawers. This looks really authentic, and I particularly liked the inclusion of a few ‘naughty’ bits in the top drawer of the Double Bedroom chest! There’s also a texture changeable writing desk to match (again filled to the brim with animations),  chairs, planters and surface decorations to make your tent look comfortable, all with the hint of opulence and extravagance that only Glamping could provide.

The single beds include the same extensive menu of animations and wearable, rezzable props but because of their size include children’s individual animations too.  Wearable props such as a toy aeroplane and a teddy bear make a welcome addition if you want to use this in a virtual family environment, along with some lovely parent and child interactions too. Ria really has covered everything with this carefully planned set.

You can even buy the set unfurnished (should you so wish, madness if you ask me) and purchase the furniture separately but personally I think your money is best spent buying the full set.  It’s an absolutely fantastic purchase, and will look as much at home in a virtual camp-site as on a virtual safari. The possibilities are endless, and it’s a fantastic creation as usual from the BAZAR brand.  BUT don’t take my word for it, go and visit in-world to see it, play with the animations and experience virtual Glamping for yourself!

I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed, and you won’t come home empty handed either!
