Skin Fair 2020 is something that I’ve covered frequently over the years and it’s always a top notch event, and this year looks like a corker. Of course it’s always a nightmare getting into the event for the first few days, so joining the Pale Girl Productions group is an absolute must to get your demos while you wait to get in.
I’ve always loved designers like AMARA BEAUTY, PINK FUEL, BOLD AND BEAUTY but I have a special place in my heart for NAR MATTARU, and when I saw the preview of their exclusive SKIN FAIR 2020 release, ‘Aela’ I knew come hell or high water I had to get it. I didn’t fancy my chances of getting in, but I was surprised that after a few minutes of frenzied attempts at TP’ing in I got, and straight over to the NAR MATTARU booth. Hurrah!
It’s a gorgeous skin, it really is. I hope you can tell that by looking at this photo, and it’s comes with a load of extras for a remarkably reasonable price.
Included in the face package (Incidentally, I’m wearing it on the original GENUS ‘Baby Face’ head) are four brow colors (plus no brows version), an HD nude lip applier and few extra treats including moles, freckles, eyeliner and lashes. (I’m wearing the liner and lashes and brows in this shot, I’m just wearing a bog standard GENUS applier lipstick from the ‘Baby Face’ HUD) There are 8 tones available, I decided to purchase ‘Glow’, and it really does.
Face applier (Genus + BOM) costs L$1099, and body applier costs L$349
Stunning, isn’t she?

Regular readers will be well aware that I do like a nice frock, oh, and a nice jumper too. Try as I might I have NEVER been able to get into the mindset that you can wear what you want all year round in Second Life. Can’t do it, won’t do it, and to be perfectly honest a lot of designers won’t, either. Thank the Goddess for that!
At this time of year I’m generally easy to find scurrying around the grid with reckless abandon like a squirrel on a mission, looking for the new season’s latest jumpers and jumper dress releases, and assorted items of comfort clothing to add to my vast collection and readers, let’s be honest here, it’s an issue.
But I don’t care, winter is practically here, the heating is on and I want a nice snuggly long jumper and socks to wear in my virtual life AS WELL AS my real one. (Naturally, I look a darn sight better in my virtual existence than I do in my real one sporting such comfort attire, but that’s a given!)
Let’s completely ignore the fact that my socks and frock leave a gap where I’m sure to feel a draught around my virtual tumpsy but anyway, I do like this long jumper from RINGO HANNA that I sourced from the latest TRES CHIC event. It’s your basic long knit style that we have kinda seen a million times before but it just works, you know?
I wanted to pair this with some long, lace-trimmed socks of which I’ve seen countless pairs on fashion feeds over the years but you know what, when I wanted them I just couldn’t find them. FFS. So I bought a cheapo pair from the marketplace; a nice straightforward pair with some lacing to the top which adds interest to the look. It’s simple, it’s comfy, what more do you want?
Finally, let me draw your attention to my face. I’m wearing NAR MATTARU‘s ‘Banshee’ eyeshadow on my eyes and I am in love. Frankly, deep down I am very much a Goth chick at heart and always have been, and I’ve grown up with a particular affection for Siouxsie Sioux. I also play Sisters Of Mercy on a regular basis and have for many years yearned to be Patricia Morrison, but anyway, at least I find a vent for that in Second Life because frankly I look a chuff with black hair (left dye on it once for too long, never again, I’ll stick to dark brown ta very much) and my hooded eyes make winged eyeliner practically impossible.
Second Life, in this case, then is definitely an outlet for my more outlandish makeup dark fantasies and I’m all for the changes that bakes on mesh have brought in and look forward to playing with layers galore on my current head du jour (although as I understand it Genus have not updated to ‘Bakes on Mesh’ yet…)
Anyway, this makeup combo plus this fantastic long hairstyle from MOON makes me look very, well, Lana Del Rey. Even more so than the actual Landa Del Rey skin I’m wearing; I’ve certainly not adjusted my shape to make myself look more like her and didn’t buy the skin for that reason, I just liked it, but it certainly strikes me as interesting how much a heavy liner eye look has added some hints of ghetto Nancy Sinatra to my appearance, and I’m loving it.

Is it me or has FAMESHED really knocked it out of the park the past few months? I’ve enjoyed their recent editions more than I have in a long time, and I congratulate them on managing to keep it fresh and fantastic when other events can look stale by comparison. I made a number of absolutely cracking purchases there this round, let me tell you all about them!
First of all, my frock. The dress I am wearing is called ‘Gia’ from REBEL HOPE DESIGNS. I really like the simple styling that’s accented by fluted sleeves and a lace panel at the rear. I also really like that it comes with options, us girls love our options after all, and you can choose a delicate sleeve (which is what I am wearing in the photo) and change the colour of the lace panel at the back. The large sleeve option is very romantic so perfect for Valentines Day, but don’t go near any naked flames, because if you knock a candle over you’ll be barbecue! On my tootsies, I’m sporting a pair of GOS’s finest, the ‘Lady G’ pump. I was hoping for a leopard print or patent, version of these but I couldn’t see one (I am as dizzy as a bat though when I’m shopping at events so that doesn’t mean there isn’t one for sale, although if there isn’t please make them!) so I opted for my ever favourite red. Now, Lady G is a bit special; GOS describe her as a “… classic high platform pump that is anything but basic. Four shoes in one, choose between a sky-high stiletto or block heel and an open foot or Mary Jane strap..” I opted for the classic heel, thicker and more substantial than a stiletto with a chunky pointed toe (the kind of toe that if you kicked someone in the nethers they’d know about for at least a week) and the aforementioned Mary Jane strap detail across the top of the foot. Now, one of the things I have always loved about Gospel Voom‘s footwear is the attention to detail. The texture is spot-on, it looks real and zooming in to check out these shoes is very satisfying. Look at the clasp, it looks like it’s been fastened properly and you can even see a hint of the fastening bar behind the leather strap. I love the attention to detail like that. The shoes are equally well textured inside, even though you’ll never see that element because you’ll be wearing them, and they sport branding on the sole. They’re perfect.
Last but not least an honourable mention: I’m sporting new brow happiness from NAR MATTARU. Jade Glazner has long been a favourite creator of mine and I love her brows as much as I adore her tattoos and skins. These brows are her latest and how I wish they were mine in real-life, I need more than some ABH brow pomade and concealer to shape these babies! Fortunately, in Second Life I can look utterly perfect, and these TARA brows work beautifully upon my AMARA BEAUTY ‘Hanna’ skin. They come with a HUD that allows you to choose from five colour variations, including a white brow option. Glorious!
Finally shout-outs to the poses I’m using in this post; first-up for the main shot I’m using a nifty wee pose from AUTHENTIC POSES called ‘Confidence 04’, and the neon heart and pose are from a set called ‘Lovely Poses (Bento)’ by CNZ. Both are from THE CHAPTER FOUR.
No, we don’t actually, we celebrate romantic love and all that it entails. Like most real-life holidays and festivals SECOND LIFE embraces St Valentine’s Day with as much gusto as it can, meaning that the grid will soon be festooned in frothy pink and red hearts everywhere, but there’s also going to be some excellent shopping opportunities.
If you like your looks romantic but retro with a modern edge, here’s an outfit to get you going. I’m sporting a beautiful frock from VALENTINA E (perfect place for Valentine’s Day fashion, right down to the name!) in a perfect shade of blush pink, although other colours are available. It features puffy sleeves and a nipped-in, banded waist with a ‘V’ neck to both the front and back, along with excellent creasing and seam detail. I’ve teamed it with some edgy tattoos from NAR MATTARU, and a cracking necklace I discovered whilst mooching around RANDOM MATTER (one of my absolute fave stores in-world for edgy and unusual accessories). My rings are from YUMMY, a brand that is quite frankly on fire at the moment, releasing epic ring set after ring set (and here I am buying them all) and this one is no exception. This is the ‘Sweetheart’ ring set, featuring a ginormous, gem-encrusted heart, along with individual decorated bands and statement rings to adorn your paws in perfect Valentine fashion. It’s available right now at N21 and is available to fit either Maitreya or Slink.
Right, that’s one look sorted for Valentine’s Day. Plenty of time left to change my mind and my outfit a million times over. Watch this space!
