Be My Valentine?

Be My Valentine?

Is it me or has FAMESHED really knocked it out of the park the past few months? I’ve enjoyed their recent editions more than I have in a long time, and I congratulate them on managing to keep it fresh and fantastic when other events can look stale by comparison. I made a number of absolutely cracking purchases there this round, let me tell you all about them!

First of all, my frock. The dress I am wearing is called ‘Gia’ from REBEL HOPE DESIGNS.  I really like the simple styling that’s accented by fluted sleeves and a lace panel at the rear.  I also really like that it comes with options, us girls love our options after all, and you can choose a delicate sleeve (which is what I am wearing in the photo) and change the colour of the lace panel at the back.  The large sleeve option is very romantic so perfect for Valentines Day, but don’t go near any naked flames, because if you knock a candle over you’ll be barbecue!Snapshot_004.pngOn my tootsies, I’m sporting a pair of GOS’s finest, the ‘Lady G’ pump.  I was hoping for a leopard print or patent, version of these but I couldn’t see one (I am as dizzy as a bat though when I’m shopping at events so that doesn’t mean there isn’t one for sale, although if there isn’t please make them!) so I opted for my ever favourite red.  Now, Lady G is a bit special; GOS describe her as a “… classic high platform pump that is anything but basic. Four shoes in one, choose between a sky-high stiletto or block heel and an open foot or Mary Jane strap..” I opted for the classic heel, thicker and more substantial than a stiletto with a chunky pointed toe (the kind of toe that if you kicked someone in the nethers they’d know about for at least a week) and the aforementioned Mary Jane strap detail across the top of the foot.   Now, one of the things I have always loved about Gospel Voom‘s footwear is the attention to detail.  The texture is spot-on, it looks real and zooming in to check out these shoes is very satisfying.  Look at the clasp, it looks like it’s been fastened properly and you can even see a hint of the fastening bar behind the leather strap. I love the attention to detail like that.   The shoes are equally well textured inside, even though you’ll never see that element because you’ll be wearing them, and they sport branding on the sole.  They’re perfect.

Last but not least an honourable mention: I’m sporting new brow happiness from NAR MATTARU. Jade Glazner has long been a favourite creator of mine and I love her brows as much as I adore her tattoos and skins.  These brows are her latest and how I wish they were mine in real-life, I need more than some ABH brow pomade and concealer to shape these babies! Fortunately, in Second Life I can look utterly perfect, and these TARA brows work beautifully upon my AMARA BEAUTY ‘Hanna’ skin. They come with a HUD that allows you to choose from five colour variations, including a white brow option.  Glorious!

Finally shout-outs to the poses I’m using in this post; first-up for the main shot I’m using a nifty wee pose from AUTHENTIC POSES called ‘Confidence 04’, and the neon heart and pose are from a set called ‘Lovely Poses (Bento)’ by CNZ.  Both are from THE CHAPTER FOUR.

Kitty LOVES The Catnip Carnival!

Kitty LOVES The Catnip Carnival!

Well come on guys, I wasn’t going to dislike it given that it’s so feline-centric!

It’s a bijou event; there are only a handful of participants and it won’t take you more than ten minutes to peruse the offerings that are available, but every single item on show is lovely and raises funds for Kitties. YAY FOR KITTIES!

You’ll find furniture, skins, poses, hair clothing and jewellery from ten superb content creators who have generously contributed items to the cause.  The full dazzling array of loveliness can be viewed via the Seraphim blog or by visiting Elysium’s Pinterest boards, but I thought I’d share a few of my favourite finds from the event with you here.

I’ve mentioned before that I’ve fallen totally in love with Izzie Button’s work, and she has provided a fantastic skin, ‘Irene’, to  this event. It comes in pale and mocha tones (you get each shade in the pack) and features a discreet cat-eyeliner.  I tried the demo on and was completely sold.  At L$890 for two superb quality skins I’d say you can’t go wrong, and it works really well with the fantastic hair that Truth has contributed to the event, see?

This style is called ‘Noemi’.  I love the heavy fringe (bangs) on this style, and the volume and curl on the pigtails. It’s also my first try-out of Truth’s new shades and I am especially in love with the ‘Gingers 04 Fade’ shade that I’m wearing in this picture.  There are a number of colour packs available at L$200 each at the event , but I treated myself to the fantastic variety pack at L$350 so that I could experiment with the colours.  (Stop Press: Truth’s promised me he’s working on some bobs; when they are released I will spontaneously combust!)

I also FINALLY got with the in-crowd and bought myself some Gos Boutique shoes. I’m not really a shoes-y gal in RL, and I can’t say that I am in SL either, but having tried these ‘Lolita Espadrilles’ I fear that I may be about to change (and lose!) my mind. Of course I’d heard all about the amazing GOS skin matching system and that it was totally easy and super-effective to use, so when I bought these (I had to buy them; leopard print) I sort of knew what I was letting myself in for. But OMG it’ really is THAT easy to match your skin to the shoes that it now seems plain ridiculous that I don’t own every pair that they have ever created!  What an absolute blessing to Second Life this concept is, and by the way, the shoes are absolutely sensational.  They’re perfectly shaped and textured and I predict that I will be wearing these all summer long, because they’re just THAT pretty!

I also splurged on a cat-bed (even though I currently don’t have any cats!) and lusted after the Cheeky Pea sofa.  I don’t have need of a new sofa so couldn’t really justify the expense, although I do think that if I was looking to purchase a new one this would have been perfect.  The textures are ideal for a cat-lover and applied beautifully. (But what do you expect, it’s Cheeky Pea!)The poses in the sofa and the co-ordinating floor cushions have been well thought out and carefully applied making this entire ensemble a worthy purchase indeed. I think it would work especially well in a small sky-box.

My absolute favourite item though has to be the Catnip necklace from Cae.

The detail on this is just brilliant; from the intricate and extremely delicate chain to the cat pendant with crystal embellishment. It’s colour-change and is just so ruddy lovely that I want this in real-life, desperately.  I can’t think of a nicer and classier way to show your support for all things feline than by wearing this.  The metal can be changed to either Gold or Silver, and there are six crystals to select from in a variety of colours, meaning you can team it with practically any outfit in your wardrobe. I don’t envisage that I’ll be taking this off anytime soon!

I really do hope that the Catnip Carnival is a HUGE success and hope lots of lovely cash is raised for the  River Cities Humane Society For Cats  (Thanks so much to Harlow Heslop, and to all the generous contributors, for bringing this event to our virtual world!)

Kitty’s appetite is mildly suppressed at faMESHed

Kitty’s appetite is mildly suppressed at faMESHed

So, I pootled on over to FaMESHed, thinking I’d not get in, and yet..I did. There was only about three other avis there at the time I visited, so it wasn’t packed like I had anticipated..But do NOT be put off by that statement, the items that are here are indeed as good a quality as you would expect from such well-known creators. There are representations here from The Loft, Cracked Mirror, House Of London, Hoorenbeek (not out when I visited), E!, Geometry, Nya, Starstruck, Exile, Valentina E., GOS, Aura, Handverk Kaun, Alice Project and Maxi Gossamer.  Predominately female fashion then, a few furnishing items, a quartet of hairstyles and a few items for the boys.

There’s a ‘Look Of The Month’ collaboration betwixt Mon Tissu and Celoe, which is lovely BUT I tend to steer away from them because you can occasionally see doppelgängers in the same outfit and quite frankly that just won’t do 😉 Still the trousers (ok, slacks) are rather festive in their tangerine hue and the look has been styled with creativity and flair. Kitty like.

However, for me what really stood out was this uber fancy Godiva-esque mesh hair style from Wasabi Pills. It’s called ‘Jacqueline’ and it just clicked with me in a way that long hair styles have been doing recently. I love the way it sits over the shoulders and the flicks that frame the face. Very girly, very natural..not groundbreaking by a long shot but special nonetheless. You get four colours in a pack for L$250, which for mesh hair is good, and it’s a sound investment because you can dress up and down this style with ease.

My other favourite item are the Cracked Mirror bootcut jeans. There are four denim colours to choose from (blue, faded blue, black or just faded) and they really look the part. L$295 isn’t bad a price either, and if you’re clever you’ll click the Subscribo that’s next to the jeans because if you do you receive a rather lovely tank top for your trouble!

So there you have it, faMESHed. A successful if somewhat unspectacular launch methinks (and I don’t mean that in a nasty way; it’s good, but not grid changing) featuring some nifty mesh items that are sure to appeal. A gentle start then, but  I look forward to much more to come in the months ahead.

Here’s your ride to FAMESHED.
