The Love Witch

It’s hard to believe we’re almost into February; Christmas only seems like it was five minutes ago, yet at the same time it seems so very far away. Still, there are lots of events to look forward to in 2018, and coming up we have St. Valentine’s Day, where we celebrate the beating, stoning and eventual beheading of this religious martyr…

No, we don’t actually, we celebrate romantic love and all that it entails. Like most real-life holidays and festivals SECOND LIFE embraces St Valentine’s Day with as much gusto as it can, meaning that the grid will soon be festooned in frothy pink and red hearts everywhere, but there’s also going to be some excellent shopping opportunities.

If you like your looks romantic but retro with a modern edge, here’s an outfit to get you going. I’m sporting a beautiful frock from VALENTINA E (perfect place for Valentine’s Day fashion, right down to the name!) in a perfect shade of blush pink, although other colours are available. It features puffy sleeves and a nipped-in, banded waist with a ‘V’ neck to both the front and back, along with excellent creasing and seam detail. I’ve teamed it with some edgy tattoos from NAR MATTARU, and a cracking necklace I discovered whilst mooching around RANDOM MATTER (one of my absolute fave stores in-world for edgy and unusual accessories). My rings are from YUMMY, a brand that is quite frankly on fire at the moment, releasing epic ring set after ring set (and here I am buying them all) and this one is no exception. This is the ‘Sweetheart’ ring set, featuring a ginormous, gem-encrusted heart, along with individual decorated bands and statement rings to adorn your paws in perfect Valentine fashion. Right, that’s one look sorted for Valentine’s Day. Plenty of time left to change my mind and my outfit a million times over. Watch this space!

All’s Vintage & Fair!

Vintage is a look that I do pretty well. In fact, some of my most popular posts have been features where I’ve been decked out in retro 1950’s or 1960’s styles. Truth be told it’s a look I like very much so I’m always happy to wear it, and fortunately, you can find lots of places that sell the right clothing to make these decades come to life at THE VINTAGE FAIR 2017

I’d say that about 85% of the participants nail exactly what vintage looks like at this event. You always get participants at events that just don’t seem to get it, but they seem few and far between at this one, which I welcome. I’m so sick of events that have themes that people don’t stick to! Of course, vintage applies to a lot more than just mid-century fashions, and look around and you’ll be delighted to discover clothing from every period of the 20th century, and a little earlier than that in some cases, too!

I needed to get my groove on, so to that end, I splashed out on a beautiful new period hairstyle from ELIKATIRA, along with a new frock (of course in a leopard print) and some spectacular new ZOOM shades. I love my beehives and rockabilly style updos. This ‘Mabel’ hairstyle is a great take on the classic; not too high that it towers and sits uncomfortably on the head, but nice and structured with loose waves that curl over the shoulders.

The dress is a bit special too, it’s from PURPLE MOON CREATIONS and features a sewn on high-waist with button detail, leading into an open shirt with a collar at the top. I love it; the HUD features seven different styles of dress including the leopard print that you see here, along with spots and cherry print too. It’s incredibly wearable and fit well on my Maitreya body, although I did have to alpha mask a few areas.

Last but not least, add some ZOOM shades ( and Y’all know how much I love ZOOM, right?) and there you have it, an absolutely exquisite, vintage look that is incredibly wearable in-world. VINTAGE FAIR runs from June 9th – June 25th, don’t miss it!

SEVEN DAYS OF DENIM CHALLENGE: DAY 3

Another day, another denim adventure!

Today I fancied the classic white shirt and blue jeans combo, but I mixed it up a bit by wearing the shirt open and loose, and adding some frayed denim shorts instead of full jeans. It’s a footloose and fancy free sort of look, made all the better for the glorious hairstyle that I’m sporting, along with an old classic BELLEZA skin. BELLEZA is having a bit of a sale at the moment actually, and it’s well worth your time to check them out. Well, ‘a bit of a sale’ is an understatement, it’s actually a HUGE RETIREMENT sale, so it’s in your best interest to take a trip over and scoop up some favourites before they’re gone forever.
My guess is that the BELLEZA team is planning for the release of their mesh body, amongst other things, so they’re making space in their store for all the lovely goodness coming our way. The sale gave me the chance to finally pick up the Chloe skin that I have lusted after for an age; I don’t tend to buy many skins these days, but I have ALWAYS wanted this skin because of the eyeliner options in Bundle 2.
I genuinely think it’s one of the best skins that Tricky Boucher has ever produced and it’s my honest opinion that the eyeliners, shadow and lip colours have never been matched by any other BELLEZA skin release (with the exception of their Ava BB skin- the eyeliner on that one (which is my profile pic) is LEGENDARY)
These shorts were actually a Marketplace find that I stumbled across months ago. They were only L$1, but they’re a great shape and really effective with their worn seams and overall tatty appearance. I often dress them up with tights or leggings underneath and a big baggy jumper on top, but today I wanted something a little more formal looking, and this gorgeous white open collar blouse from TRES BLAH, at the UBER SL event, was just what I needed.
Last but not least is this beautiful hairstyle from ELIKATIRA. This is another store holding an epic sale and this style, ‘Cassidy’ is included. Regular hair colour packs are available for L$99 each, but you’ll need to be quick because this astonishing offer ends on Friday.
