SKIN FAIR 2020: NAR MATTARU 'Aela'

Skin Fair 2020 is something that I’ve covered frequently over the years and it’s always a top notch event, and this year looks like a corker. Of course it’s always a nightmare getting into the event for the first few days, so joining the Pale Girl Productions group is an absolute must to get your demos while you wait to get in.

I’ve always loved designers like AMARA BEAUTY, PINK FUEL, BOLD AND BEAUTY but I have a special place in my heart for NAR MATTARU, and when I saw the preview of their exclusive SKIN FAIR 2020 release, ‘Aela’ I knew come hell or high water I had to get it. I didn’t fancy my chances of getting in, but I was surprised that after a few minutes of frenzied attempts at TP’ing in I got, and straight over to the NAR MATTARU booth. Hurrah!

It’s a gorgeous skin, it really is. I hope you can tell that by looking at this photo, and it’s comes with a load of extras for a remarkably reasonable price.

Included in the face package (Incidentally, I’m wearing it on the original GENUS ‘Baby Face’ head) are four brow colors (plus no brows version), an HD nude lip applier and few extra treats including moles, freckles, eyeliner and lashes. (I’m wearing the liner and lashes and brows in this shot, I’m just wearing a bog standard GENUS applier lipstick from the ‘Baby Face’ HUD) There are 8 tones available, I decided to purchase ‘Glow’, and it really does.

All’s Vintage & Fair!

Vintage is a look that I do pretty well. In fact, some of my most popular posts have been features where I’ve been decked out in retro 1950’s or 1960’s styles. Truth be told it’s a look I like very much so I’m always happy to wear it, and fortunately, you can find lots of places that sell the right clothing to make these decades come to life at THE VINTAGE FAIR 2017

I’d say that about 85% of the participants nail exactly what vintage looks like at this event. You always get participants at events that just don’t seem to get it, but they seem few and far between at this one, which I welcome. I’m so sick of events that have themes that people don’t stick to! Of course, vintage applies to a lot more than just mid-century fashions, and look around and you’ll be delighted to discover clothing from every period of the 20th century, and a little earlier than that in some cases, too!

I needed to get my groove on, so to that end, I splashed out on a beautiful new period hairstyle from ELIKATIRA, along with a new frock (of course in a leopard print) and some spectacular new ZOOM shades. I love my beehives and rockabilly style updos. This ‘Mabel’ hairstyle is a great take on the classic; not too high that it towers and sits uncomfortably on the head, but nice and structured with loose waves that curl over the shoulders.

The dress is a bit special too, it’s from PURPLE MOON CREATIONS and features a sewn on high-waist with button detail, leading into an open shirt with a collar at the top. I love it; the HUD features seven different styles of dress including the leopard print that you see here, along with spots and cherry print too. It’s incredibly wearable and fit well on my Maitreya body, although I did have to alpha mask a few areas.

Last but not least, add some ZOOM shades ( and Y’all know how much I love ZOOM, right?) and there you have it, an absolutely exquisite, vintage look that is incredibly wearable in-world. VINTAGE FAIR runs from June 9th – June 25th, don’t miss it!

Gee Baby Ain’t I Good To You

Every so often a look that I post is so flipping special to me that I’ll share it on my RL FB feed. It’s not very often that it happens, and when it does it’s always because I think that I’ve made something rather good and I want to share it with my RL family and chums. Now, all my friends and family know how much I adore Second Life, so I’ve never held back on sharing that side with them, but a lot of people just don’t get it; and although that’s fine too I like to try and share elements of my Second Life with them so they realise it’s not quite as weird as they think. Anyway, what I’m trying to say is I was so seriously proud of this snap that I just had to share it with a wider audience, and at the time of writing this blog it’s got some seriously positive feedback which has made me super kitty-happy:)

The reason for the share is because of VINTAGE FAIR 2016. You can read all about it on the Pale Girl Productions website, and also enjoy perusing the shopping guide too while you wait to get into the event. There are many eras included in the fair, from the Roaring Twenties through to the Eighties, Nineties and early 00’s (which doesn’t feel *that* vintage to me, gulp!) but one of the most popular decades is undoubtedly the 1950’s and you’ll find plenty from that amazing decade to wear at the event.

I love the 1950’s styling; it’s something I dabble with on occasion adding tattoos and piercings for a more Rockabilly/Suicide Girl-style. Anyway, I found a frock that is an absolute must-have if you like anything associated with that decade at all. It’s from a brand called EPOCH, it’s called ‘Frenchie’ and there is a selection of patterns available but obviously, I went for the Leopard print. I teamed it with my favourite beehive from VANITY HAIR, added the YUMMY ‘Ellery’ spectacles(my absolute favourite SL specs) and I’m still wearing ‘Reilly’ from AMARA BEAUTY here, but this time teamed with a vibrant lip from the HUD. I’ve worn the no brow option and added some JUST MAGNETIZED brows. The joys of applier cosmetic layers, they just add so much to your look!

SKIN FAIR 2015 – Soul ‘Kissers’ and Paper Rabbit ‘Willow (Cotton Candy)’

So SKIN FAIR 2015 has finished, *blub*. The doors have closed for another year, but WHAT AN EVENT. It really was brilliant this year, and I enjoyed every minute. I purposely didn’t blog everything at the event because I knew I would struggle to keep up as you can tell with the delay on this, my final event post, BUT my final offering for you is a bit of a 2-in-1 triumph.

First of all, PAPER RABBIT skins. A brand I’d heard of but never tried, so SKIN FAIR 2015 was of course the perfect opportunity for me to give them a whirl, but my experiment was actually due to the fact that I’d been given a new mesh mouth to play about with, this time from SOUL.

Now as you know I’m quite enamored with my PXL SWEET LIPS that I blogged just before SKIN FAIR 2015. They’re a bit pouty/grumpy though, and I don’t want to look like that all the time (99.5% of it maybe, but occasionally I’d like to have a wee bit of a grin on my chops!) So thank goodness for SOUL KISSERS, a range of mesh mouths that cover a huge wish-list with their range; Closed, Open, Smile, Vampire, Orc AND Neko are all available for a cheap-as-chips price of L$599.

If you’re a SOUL skin wearer you’ll be delighted to know that every single Catalina skin shade is covered in the skin applier that comes with the HUD, plus there’s nine luscious lipstick shades from that skin line too. These are Omega Applier ready, and we’re promised that quite a few skin creators are planning to expand their range to include SOUL KISSER appliers, so I decided to hunt such a brand down and kill two birds with one stone, as it were. (Note, I wouldn’t actually do that because a) my aim is dreadful and b) I wouldn’t be throwing stones at birds..)

So, that reasoning brought me to PAPER RABBIT. I’m wearing the Willow ‘Cotton Candy‘ skin in Peach tone, and I chose this because I was seriously drawn to the eyeshadow colours, and the fact that the appliers I purchased (For my Maitreya body) included HEART SHAPED NIPPLES. (A friend had a photo on her wall of a girl in RL who’d had her areola tattooed to make them look heart-shaped and it looked super cool. (Either that or she was blessed at birth) I thought it was a GREAT look, so I was super eager to get the skin on and see how it looked. Fabulous is the short answer!

Guys this is just such a pretty skin and super fun to wear, it really is. The make-up is beautifully applied. I mean, LOOK AT THAT FACE! JUST LOOK AT IT!! I mean if that’s not a face that doesn’t need a serious amount of kisses then I just don’t know what is; it’s absolutely beautiful. I thought I’d seen all the best make-ups at SKIN FAIR 2015 until I saw this face and fell fast and hard for it. The details don’t just stretch to the face either, all the shading across the body is pretty darn fabulous, and again those nipples! OOSH!

But back to the point of the PAPER RABBIT PURCHASE, what was the SOUL KISSER like? Well, the picture above should give you some idea. I initially found it a little difficult to apply but that’s because I’m impatient! Having said that it’s not exactly rocket science to fit these lips though, so once I’d tweaked and twizzled and added the applier I was soon in action, and you know, I think they look great! They have a lovely shape to them, incredibly pert and pouty and kissable, and it’s just so nice to see some mesh chops that show teeth and the potential for a smile.

So with that in mind I went out and bought the ‘Cupid’s Pout-Smile’ version, and well, see the results below, doesn’t it look authentic and girly and just, well, super nice?

I really love the combination of this Cotton Candy skin AND the Soul Kisser. It helps that the lipstick on the applier is a scrumptious purple-pink tone that just works utterly beautifully, I’m super-chuffed with it, and I think it makes for a super pretty Kitty. Incidentally, Cotton Candy includes a no-brow version (much to my delight) so I added some of my favourite brows (JUST MAGNETISED ‘Diva’ brows) and TRUTH’s latest release, ‘Fynn’. I think the result is just outstanding, don’t you? So, here are your instructions for today: Go to SOUL and check out the SOUL KISSERS range. I did pop by the PAPER RABBIT store but this skin wasn’t available yet so perhaps Helyanwe Vindaloo is working up to it?
