C88: Rainforest Rainforest Rah Rah Rah!

(Yes, it’s a shit post title, my imagination had left the building when I wrote it, OK?)

I really hadn’t anticipated loving this month’s C88 theme, ‘Rainforest’, quite as much as I have. I’ve bought a significant amount of stuff, yikes, but that’s because everything on display at this round has been so hot.

Example: here’s me looking positively ruddy sizzling in a glorious bikini from TETRA. This is the ‘Cryssie’ Bikini, and it features a crossover front with ribbon closure to the back and the neck. It’s one of those items that is incredibly simple, yet when done right it’s an absolute sensation. TETRA is a great brand, I hadn’t realised how much to my taste their clothes were and they’ll certainly be a brand I consider more in the future.

There are 12 options available but I went for a nice plain and simple flesh tone with the intention of dressing it up with the TEEFY ‘Winnie’ sweater, which is precisely what I’ve done and I confess, for the entirety of the week I’ve lived in this outfit. Dirty Kitty.

Last but not least, this hairstyle is a bit of a corker innit? This is ‘King’ from LITTLE BONES, one of three long and lovely styles at C88. I really love their long hairstyles, especially because they come with a HUD allowing you to change the positioning of the hair. It’s an absolute winner if you ask me.

Next month’s C88 theme is going to be ‘Tan Lines’, muted earthy tones rather than an all-out fall extravaganza. I’m looking forward to it immensely, but until September 6th you’ve got the glorious ‘Rainforest’ to enjoy, and I hope you do as much as I have.

All good things must come to an end, and the MESH BODY ADDICTS FAIR 2017 is going to do just that on the 21st, yes, that’s tomorrow! It’s been a great event, with lots of highlights. All’s Vintage & Fair!

Vintage is a look that I do pretty well. In fact, some of my most popular posts have been features where I’ve been decked out in retro 1950’s or 1960’s styles. Truth be told it’s a look I like very much so I’m always happy to wear it, and fortunately, you can find lots of places that sell the right clothing to make these decades come to life at THE VINTAGE FAIR 2017

I’d say that about 85% of the participants nail exactly what vintage looks like at this event. You always get participants at events that just don’t seem to get it, but they seem few and far between at this one, which I welcome. I’m so sick of events that have themes that people don’t stick to! Of course, vintage applies to a lot more than just mid-century fashions, and look around and you’ll be delighted to discover clothing from every period of the 20th century, and a little earlier than that in some cases, too!

I needed to get my groove on, so to that end, I splashed out on a beautiful new period hairstyle from ELIKATIRA, along with a new frock (of course in a leopard print) and some spectacular new ZOOM shades. I love my beehives and rockabilly style updos. This ‘Mabel’ hairstyle is a great take on the classic; not too high that it towers and sits uncomfortably on the head, but nice and structured with loose waves that curl over the shoulders.

The dress is a bit special too, it’s from PURPLE MOON CREATIONS and features a sewn on high-waist with button detail, leading into an open shirt with a collar at the top. I love it; the HUD features seven different styles of dress including the leopard print that you see here, along with spots and cherry print too. It’s incredibly wearable and fit well on my Maitreya body, although I did have to alpha mask a few areas.

Last but not least, add some ZOOM shades ( and Y’all know how much I love ZOOM, right?) and there you have it, an absolutely exquisite, vintage look that is incredibly wearable in-world. VINTAGE FAIR runs from June 9th – June 25th, don’t miss it!

I’ll Tumble For Ya!

I will never tire of how SECOND LIFE fashion really challenges me to create new looks and wear things I wouldn’t normally try in a month of Sundays. Here’s an example, I really wouldn’t have given this EN VOGUE ‘Milly’ hair a second glance had I not thought, “Oh to hell with it, just try it” and I’m so glad I did! I balked at the idea of the voluminous plait piled on top of the head, but it works beautifully. There’s an almost 1940’s vibe to the style and I think it would work extremely well styled in a Rockabilly/Vintage fashion with a tied shirt and jeans, but I’m wearing it with a cracking group members freebie from CYNFUL. This is the ‘Cynnosence’ dress and you’ll get three different colour combinations in your gift, ready to fit Slink, Belleza or Maitreya bodies. I really love all the colour combos but I had an urge to wear blue, so I did! I added some of my favourite ZOOM shades ( I often wear glasses in SL, contrary to popular belief you do get plenty of passes!) and the very latest GLAMISTRY release, these exceptionally cute ‘Hortensia’ heels. They’re a simple heel style embellished with a bow, and of course, the shoes come replete with the famous GLAMISTRY colour-change HUD meaning that you can mix and match your footwear to match your style, which is precisely what I did. A fat pack of these beauties costs just L$479 and I really encourage you to treat yo’self! As a final note, I want to draw your attention to my rather splendid head. This is ‘Tumble’ from CATWA and it is quite possibly my favourite head release yet; I love the softness of the face shape in the cheek area and the overall feeling of roundness to this release.See what I mean? Despite the fleshiness to the main body of the face the overall look is really quite delicate and youthful, and of course, she’s transformed by whichever skin applier you choose to wear. Using the animation HUDS she’s incredibly expressive and an absolute dream to wear. I don’t get chatted up very often in SECOND LIFE these days, but, I have to say that wearing ‘Tumble’ has changed all that for some reason!The combination of this CATWA head and the AMARA BEAUTY ‘Priya’ skin (which I refuse point blank to stop wearing at the moment, it’s glorious!) just seems to be bringing all the boys to my yard. They can sod off though; if there are any milkshakes to be had I’m calling first dibs…Here’s your shopping list-ENJOY!
