BAZAR gives me Stockholm Syndrome!

BAZAR_012

It is always an absolute joy when Ria Bazar drops something new on me. It always gets me seriously excited to see what she has created, and she never disappoints. Last night I managed to FINALLY log into SL after a few days out of the loop.  (If you’d like to see why I’ve been otherwise engaged, click HERE!) I started raking through the off-lines and IMs (shudder) and then once I’d logged out so I could install the latest Firestorm viewer (loving it so far) and then logged back in  I FINALLY managed to open the box that she had sent me, at which point I did an embarrassingly bad merry jig of happiness.

She’s done it again guys and gals.  Ria has released the STOCKHOLM BEDROOM.  As usual, it’s a corker featuring stylish, slightly retro pieces that work perfectly together. All of them are designed, sculpted and textured to the highest standards (as are all Ria’s pieces) and work together beautifully, but can also be used to great effect to enhance a space individually too.

Ria told me that she’d gone for some new textures in this one, and they can be found in the blankets, sheets and pillows of the bed which is the centerpiece of the set.  I challenge you to find another creator in world who so uses animations and rezzable props so thoughtfully in their furniture pieces. (For example,  I love the options Ria has included for breakfast in bed. Just go and try it out for yourselves but trust me, it’s *really* cool!)

Stockholm Syndrome

She never skimps on detail does our Ria; I love the typewriter and the bottles with their candles and the trainers that can be used to decorate the floor.  The His ‘N’ Hers clothing racks are really funky and will really look the part in any industrial themed dwelling, and I’m especially keen on the artworks that have been created by Ria herself.  They have a real Visage/New Romantic vibe to them and really add atmosphere to your living space.

This is a bedroom set  that has to be seen to be believed, so I strongly urge you to visit the 6TH REPUBLIC event, where you’ll find the STOCKHOLM BEDROOM available for the bargain price of L$566 (PG) or L$626 (Adult) Incidentally, check out the textures on the bedside table and the hammered metal cabinet; as always they’re perfect and worth every Linden spent.  The event runs until May 27th, don’t miss it!

Mistress Kitty And Her Fortune Parlour...

TAG GACHA has begun and the theme is ‘The Side Show’.  It’s an absolute must visit if you like twisted clowns, bearded ladies and especially ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show‘.  The location is incredibly well-styled and evocative so be sure to take a few snaps as you begin your Tag Gacha game. It’s incredibly enjoyable and I was chuffed to win the ISON rare; this turn of the century style dress that comes complete with a HUD of different colours. It’s rather evocative and reminded me of Eva Green’s fabulous turn in ‘Penny Dreadful’. I’m also wearing the latest skin from ZOUL CREATIONS in this shot, called ‘Chloe’, and like every release from Shantia Soulstar she’s a joy to wear and style.  (I’ll talk more about her in a future post because you can’t really see her properly on this snap). My hair is by MINA from KUSTOM 9 and really does add a turn of the century vibe to this shot.

SKIN FAIR 2015 – Soul ‘Kissers’ and Paper Rabbit ‘Willow (Cotton Candy)’

SKIN FAIR 2015 – Soul ‘Kissers’ and Paper Rabbit ‘Willow (Cotton Candy)’

nips_002

So SKIN FAIR 2015 has finished, *blub*.  The doors have closed for another year, but WHAT AN EVENT.  It really was brilliant this year, and I enjoyed every minute.  I purposely didn’t blog everything at the event because I knew I would struggle to keep up as you can tell with the delay on this, my final event post, BUT my final offering for you is a bit of a 2-in-1 triumph.

First of all, PAPER RABBIT skins. A brand I’d heard of but never tried, so SKIN FAIR 2015 was of course the perfect opportunity for me to give them a whirl, but my experiment was actually due to the fact that I’d been given a new mesh mouth to play about with, this time from SOUL.

Now as you know I’m quite enamored with my PXL SWEET LIPS that I blogged just before SKIN FAIR 2015.  They’re a bit pouty/grumpy though, and I don’t want to look like that all the time (99.5% of it maybe, but occasionally I’d like to have a wee bit of a grin on my chops!)  So thank goodness for SOUL KISSERS, a range of mesh mouths that cover a huge wish-list with their range; Closed, Open, Smile, Vampire, Orc AND Neko are all available for a cheap-as-chips price of L$599.

If you’re a SOUL skin wearer you’ll be delighted to know that every single Catalina skin shade is covered in the skin applier that comes with the HUD, plus there’s nine luscious lipstick shades from that skin line too.  These are Omega Applier ready, and we’re promised that quite a few skin creators are planning to expand their range to include SOUL KISSER appliers, so I decided to hunt such a brand down and kill two birds with one stone, as it were. (Note, I wouldn’t actually do that because a) my aim is dreadful and b) I wouldn’t be throwing stones at birds..)

So, that reasoning brought me to PAPER RABBIT.  I’m wearing the Willow ‘Cotton Candy‘ skin in Peach tone, and I chose this because I was seriously drawn to the eyeshadow colours, and the fact that the appliers I purchased (For my Maitreya body) included HEART SHAPED NIPPLES. (A friend had a photo on her wall of a girl in RL who’d had her areola tattooed  to make them look heart-shaped and it looked super cool. (Either that or she was blessed at birth) I thought it was a GREAT look, so I was super eager to get the skin on and see how it looked.  Fabulous is the short answer!

Guys this is just such a pretty skin and super fun to wear, it really is. The make-up is beautifully applied.  I mean, LOOK AT THAT FACE! JUST LOOK AT IT!! I mean if that’s not a face that doesn’t need a serious amount of kisses then I just don’t know what is; it’s absolutely beautiful.  I thought I’d seen all the best make-ups at SKIN FAIR 2015 until I saw this face and fell fast and hard for it.  The details don’t just stretch to the face either, all the shading across the body is pretty darn fabulous, and again those nipples! OOSH!

But back to the point of the PAPER RABBIT PURCHASE, what was the SOUL KISSER like? Well, the picture above should give you some idea.  I initially found it a little difficult to apply but that’s because I’m impatient! Having said that it’s not exactly rocket science to fit these lips though, so once I’d tweaked and twizzled and added the applier I was soon in action, and you know, I think they look great! They have a lovely shape to them, incredibly pert and pouty and kissable, and it’s just so nice to see some mesh chops that show teeth and the potential for a smile.

So with that in mind I went out and bought the ‘Cupid’s Pout-Smile’ version, and well, see the results below, doesn’t it look authentic and girly and just, well, super nice?

I really love the combination of this Cotton Candy skin AND the Soul Kisser. It helps that the lipstick on the applier is a scrumptious purple-pink tone that just works utterly beautifully, I’m super-chuffed with it, and I think it makes for a super pretty Kitty.  Incidentally, Cotton Candy includes a no-brow version (much to my delight) so I added some of my favourite brows (JUST MAGNETISED ‘Diva’ brows) and TRUTH’s latest release, ‘Fynn’.  I think the result is just outstanding, don’t you?  So, here are your instructions for today: Go to SOUL and check out the SOUL KISSERS range.  I did pop by the PAPER RABBIT store but this skin wasn’t available yet so perhaps Helyanwe Vindaloo is working up to it?

Pester her for the speedy release of this one, it’s bloody lovely I’m sure you’ll agree!

SKIN FAIR 2015 – La Malvada Mujer ‘Anna’

SKIN FAIR 2015 – La Malvada Mujer ‘Anna’

mm_003

Now until two seconds ago I had absolutely no idea that LA MALVADA MUJER means ‘The Evil Woman’, but thanks to the wonders of Google Translate I do now:)  Faina Cortes is the brains behind the brand that creates skins, make-ups tattoos, poses ‘and garbage’ (her words not mine) in Second Life. And personally, I don’t think she has an evil bone in her body!

First of all this is NOT your regular skin brand, and that’s a strength, not a criticism. These are skins with edge that stick two fingers up at regular Second Life skin standards and veer completely off track. That’s not to say that they’re completely ‘out there’, but they’re the kind of skins that many will avoid because the shading and styling on them is a little too irregular for their tastes. Now, that’s a shame, because they’re missing out on taking a trip with some of the tastiest alternative skin-wear in world, but it also means that if you choose to sport these skins then you’re one hella unique individual indeed, and in a world teeming with ‘unique individuals’ then that’s really saying something! This is a world of twisted tattoos and dramatic eyeshadows and lips. This is a world where cheekbones are so sharp that they will cut you, so perhaps there is some evil to be reckoned with, after all. They’re certainly not skins for the faint of heart.

I went for an oddball 1990’s inspired look when wearing ‘Anna’, the SKIN FAIR 2015 release. Initially I struggled a little with styling, but eventually realised that with this skin, less is more. So I pared back my look removing the tattoos that I normally wear these days and focusing on the skin itself. Now, like all the reviews I’ve done so far I haven’t changed anything about my basic shape at all, yet straight away you can see how different my face looks to normal. This is due to shading and shaping and there is  LOTS of it here. Cheeks are super-sharp, eyes well defined and lips acute; think angles and edges rather than softness and sheer shape. That’s not to say that the shading isn’t exceptional, it is, but this skin has a definition that some will not be used to at all. Don’t fear it. As an analogy, this is the kind of skin you would probably see on the most haute-couture of catwalks.

It’s fair to say then that LA MALVADA MUJER skins are not for everyone, and you won’t descend into a virtual club to see it filled with avatars sporting these looks. But that my friends is a bonus; in a world where we can indulge our differences it’s often surprising to me how much we can look the same. Not if you’re wearing these skins. Last but not least if you have the TMP Mesh Body then this is the brand to seek out and try because there’s so much tailored to fit your investment. For the rest of us think regular skin layers to sport, but also colourful alternative bright eyebrows and shadows along with lips to match and freckles that look authentic due to their lack of symmetry. I urge you to give this brand a go guys; it’s very different but a lot of fun.

You’ll find LA MALVADA MUJER on SKIN FAIR 2015 SIM 1, Booth 44
