Virtually a Neko Kitty..

Virtually a Neko Kitty..

(I would have thought of a better title for this blog entry, but alas it’s late,I’m a tad pickled and well, I just can’t be bothered on a Tuesday much, know what I mean? Let’s face it, Tuesdays are LOTS worse than Mondays…ahem.)

Mooching around the various Second Life blogs I spotted an entry from ‘Virtual Neko’ which sent me scurrying like a kitten demented ( here’s a visual for you: a cat that’s just stuck it’s bottom on a warm wall in Summer, only it was a bit *too* hot. With me? Good) over to the store that she was blogging about. Useless Kitty that I am, for some reason ‘Atomic Kitty’ has never bipped on my radar before, but I hope I’ve made up for my ignoarance in that respect. It will surely be at the top of my Neko listings in future..because it is KITTYLICIOUS! I don’t stick my cat ears, tail and whiskers on very often, I have to be in the mood for it, but this is a store that would certainly appeal to those who live a constant kitty-cat lifestyle. Aimed squarely at the Neko culture, this store sells items that will basically make you look like the cat’s whiskers (Get used to the puns guys-I’ve been drinking again and that always helps) and then some! We’re talking fashion, furnishings, skins shapes and my favourite item from the store-EYES. Now, I only usually ever wear eyes by Miriel Enfield, because they are puurrfeeccct for me (snigger) *BUT* I think I’ve just fallen in love with the delicious range that Atomic Kitty has to offer. The best part about this is ‘Virtual Neko’ blogged a sale of GARGANTUAN proportions that means half-price store cards and goodies galore (I would tell you about this in detail but seeing as Virtual Neko blogged about it in far more detail and in a much more professional way I think that it’s only fair you visit her blog for the links and details)I dunno if it was the Chardonnay but I seemed to stumble around the store a tad and ended up buying a skin which is very lovely BUT alas the wrong-pigging one..sigh. Don’t drink AND Second Life is the motto here y’all..ahem. Anyway, you need to tip-toe in a cat-like fashion over to Atomic Kitty. If you do Neko in any way shape or form you’re missing a treat if you don’t check it out, and even if you don’t do the Neko I’d still suggest a visit, because a lot of the sublime wares available will appeal to grungey/rocky/cyber and emo types as well. See, something for everything! Versatile, me…(hic!)..Note to Kitty..don’t blog when inebri-inibr-inabri-pissed…hence the slightly blurry effect on the picture above.  But just look at those eyes..divine huh? They’re called ‘Silver’ and cost L$100 for a pack of THREE ( dark, medium and light) and contacts too.  In other words, a virtual-smeggin’-bargain, make no mistake! Click here unless you want to be forever condemned as a sad, furry trollop!

Autumn mixy matchy happiness

.
I really must apologise to the lovely Lawra, creator extraordinaire behind the smashing ‘Nekorifik’ label, as she dropped a review box on me on the 27th of October and navel-gazing numpty that I am I’ve only just remembered:) Glad I have though-it’s great seeing how she’s developing as a designer and her work just keeps getting better and better! I’m LOVING the textures that she’s chosen for her Autumn collection of separates, and the detailing is very good indeed. She always excels on the shading and creases and I’m very impressed by how she’s constantly improving these key skills. Something else that has cheered me no end is the inclusion of denim in her latest collection. I don’t wear jeans much in SL, but the pair that Lawra has released this season are perfect! In this picture I’ve teamed her green argyle sweater with the fantastic Aoharu military coat, and some ETD hair ( Roxie in Auburn) with a pose by Reel Expressions. It’s worth mentioning at this juncture that BOTH Reel Expressions and ETD have superb sales on at the moment which you really need to check out asap. Last but not least, the skin I’m wearing is the mystery dollarbie skin by *Ki2* which I snaffled during the Starlust hunt. It finishes today, so you need to get your skates on to participate, but your task is to collect rubbish through 4 sims of utter madness! Fantastic builds and fabulous shops featuring some of the best designers in SL have meant that the hunt has been packed out with avatars and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve crashed out-but trust me it’s been worth every decibel I’ve exclaimed in frustration! If you want to quickly have a go, the ‘Giant Trash Hunt’ includes the following sims: Floyd,Lloyd,Horst and Polly Jean and includes great pressies such as skins, poses and clothing galore. I’ve really enjoyed it, so thanks to all involved! Click HERE to get started…. and be sure to check out Nekorifik’s latest releases. You can see me modelling some of the rest of the collection on my Flickr.

New hair by Calla…presenting “The Sultry Collection”

In Second Life there are designers, and then there are DESIGNERS. The ones who combine sheer talent and enthusiasm and work bloody hard to build profitable businesses and retain their status quo in world despite the stiffest of competition. This is no mean feat when you consider the economic downturn…and it means that the reason they are surviving is because what they make is so good, so special, that even in times like these it’s encouraging us to part with our dosh because we just KNOW it’ll be worth it. These are the people who understand that word of mouth goes a long way, and don’t skimp on their generosity to clients. They know that avatars value thier lindens, and expect to recieve the best goods they possibly can. Make no bones about it, catering to your audience is one of the biggest challenges any content creator can face. Keeping your fan base in the face of new competition is some achievement, and keeping your collections fresh in spite of all the challenges is enough to give you a permanent migraine. I couldn’t do it, I know that much! Consider this then, you’re raising a family (of six kids!) and you’re still finding time to create, prim by prim, some of the most glorious hair in world. You must be a bloody miracle worker…or a masochist? Well either way, step forward Tigerlily Koi, who has upped the standard of Second Life hair yet again with her latest release, the aptly named ‘Sultry Collection’, which is an entirely new range of stupendously textured and colorific hair! Now, you know me..I like my bobs..BUT this collection is so utterly lovely it persuaded me to indulge in all sorts of styles, including the stunner pictured here, ‘Celsia’. I’d wanted some new bunches for ages and these are spot on. Of course, being Calla releases means all the styles are scripted for perfect sizability (Ooh,I just made a word-yay me!) and the movement is just divine. The hair bounces beautifully, and my Dad was utterly transfixed by it during a try-on session round at Kitty Manor ( Note-he was watching me try the hair on, we weren’t both trying it because that would have been just plan weird) This hair is pure class dear readers, sheer skill and artistry combined, and even though I’m not really a fan of all things flouncy Calla hair is just so good that I cannot resist it. It’s like diets, you can stick at em and do really well, and then someone brings sweeties in to work..so you have one..then another..and before you know it you’ve completely given in. I for one cannot fight the Calla urge anymore!
Go with it people, and pay Tigerlily a visit. There are demos a-plenty to try on (so much of the fun is in the trying!) Choose wisely though- these aren’t cheap hairstyles in either appearance or price. BUT at L$300 you are buying sheer class. There are 140 colours to choose from (Oh my!!) and the link I’ve provided HERE takes you straight to the new stuff. Incidentally, there’s a nice gift on the desk for you to enjoy because Calla has just celebrated it’s second anniversary, and it’s certain to be celebrating many, many more. I’ve also taken some Flickr pictures to demonstrate just a fraction of the styles on offer, which you can see by clicking my Flickr banner on the left. The focus is on texture, and more texture and sublime shaping and basically making you look completely frigging gorgeous. My fave styles apart from Celsia? Gerbera, Gladiolus and Argentine…but it’s so hard to choose. I haven’t even told you yet that SOME of the styles come with hats as well, yes, Winter is surely catered for at Calla! I have long hair in real life but it ain’t a patch in what Tigerlily creates..I want her to come and style my hair in real-life and make it look this good!!

Congratulations Tigerlily on all your hard work, it’s certainly aroused this Kitty’s passion:)

Click HERE to visit, but be warned-Calla is BUSY!! (Another good sign!) and take some serious spends with you!

Where are all the freebies for fellas?

Where are all the freebies for fellas?

(Or is Kitty looking in all the wrong places-AGAIN?)After a brief hiatus LeapyLee Cliffhanger is back in-world following me about, like a wee puppy, LOL! Regular readers will be aware that LeapyLee is in fact my RL Dad..but you’d be amazed at the amount of people who think/thought we were role-playing! Absolutely not! He’s my RL pop and he enjoys the social aspect of Second Life very much.  Alas, he doesn’t have much tolerance of my shopping addiction..he hates being dragged around stores with me (funny how SL emulates real life sometimes isn’t it?), but he certainly loves the dancing about and group banter to be found at ‘The Crown and Pearl’, or our more recent discovery, ‘World’s End’.  I’d like him to be a tad more adventurous and realise that he can wander around theworld on his own a bit more and make friends himself, BUT he’s content enough to join in on my exploits:) Alas, just like in real life I have to check myself when he’s around…swearing is a definite no-no, and if converstions turn a tad lewd I feel as embarrassed as I did as a kid when actors started snogging on the telly! One thing that is apparent though is that because he’s of a certain age he doesn’t have that many Lindens to spend in world (do any of us at the moment?) which means that freebie hunting is of paramount importance.  As a girl it’s much easier to find nicies in world, and unless you’re a cross-dresser you may find that your tastes aren’t as well catered to.  Fortunately for us lazy types there are some exlempary blogs around to help you find male-orientated goodness.

First up is ‘Free Finds for Men’ which does exactly what it says on the tin.  It’s bright, colourful and well written, featuring great photography and some superb finds. The categories are super useful and I’ve gotten Leaps some smashing new hair, eyes and outfits as a result.  My other recommendation is ‘Free For Men’ a clean, enticing blog that is festooned with photos and resulted in Leaps taking a trip to Little Nepal for some of the ‘Yak and Yeti’ goodies that were on offer.  Last but not least is ‘Edward’s Blog O’Freebies’, where the rather attractive Edward takes us along on his virtual journey and he blogs the freebies he finds along the way.  It’s another highly enjoyable read and certainly not to be missed! I’m really pleased to have finally discovered these freebielicious blogs, especially after the recent grid wide hunts that took place.  I took Dad with me and we worked as a team, but alas 90% of the wonders we found were for us female types, which made me feel a tad awkward for him.  Hopefully by finding these blogs and directing him to them I can redress the balance:)

Oh, and here’s a Kitty tip: Record the URL’s of your fave fashion blogs in the ‘Notes’ section of your profile.  That way when you’re at a loose end in world you can quickly refer to them and go and grab some nicies!
