Fabulous Freebie From League Makes Kitty Snoodilicious!

Fabulous Freebie From League Makes Kitty Snoodilicious!

I think something that’s putting people off the current SL boobie craze is, to be honest, the fashion. People think it’s all about see through, fish-net blouses and strips of cloth pretending to be a tee shirt. If I’m honest that’s probably about 90% of the outfits I’ve seen thus far, BUT you CAN do big boobs in Second Life and keep them classy, as I hope the photo above proves.

In fact I’m actually really excited about this post because I discovered an awesome freebie at League which for me is the key component of this look, and I have to share it with you!

League is a Second Life treasure. A fashion, skins and accessory store that has quite frankly become a metaverse legend.  Nena Janus is the Goddess behind the brand, and she’s gifted to us a pack of three snoods, and guys they’re sublime. (In fact, I hope to goodness that Nena makes more of these, because they’re *perfect* for hiding applier lines. They also fit me beautifully and I therefore need squillions of them! )

Anyway, back to the snoods. For L$0 you receive a pack of three.  There’s a paisley and antique rose design, each one perfectly textured (it’s League, what do you expect?) but my favourite has to be this tribal print. It makes me a very happy kitty indeed!  It’s so ruddy versatile and an utterly brilliant frontage cover-up for when you’re feeling coy and don’t want your Tangos on display. Something as simple as this can make such a difference to your look and should be an inventory staple. Plain tank top? Add snood. Plain black dress? Add snood…and so on.  Mix and match happy, and it cost you *nuffink*

But don’t just drop by, grab the snood and rush away.

Go and have a good gander around the store and take in not just the clothing and skins but also the array of scarves and utterly divine jewellery that are on offer. All of them feature League’s contemporary style-signature that’s become something of a trademark for the brand.  It’s no surprise that the store has been around since 2007 and continues to go from strength to strength because it’s one of the most compelling upon the grid, and long may it reign.

I don’t know precisely how to describe what makes League so unique; but for me it’s the way Nena Janus creates her pieces, but each item, even the skins, is infused with a lightness of touch to the textures that makes them so different from other items available upon the grid.  I guess you have to own and wear League to know precisely what I mean, but if you do you’ll know what I’m talking about.

So back to the outfit. I teamed the snood, with a very basic, V-neck long sleeve sweater by Intrepid that I found on the market-place for L$70.  I then added my mesh jeans and necklace from a few complete outfits that I had previously purchased from Ducknipple. Finally I added some old favourite wooden bangles and pumps and voila, not a peep of flesh anywhere, but a stylish, casual look ideal for mooching around the grid. Scrummy if I say so myself!

Anyway, go and pick up your freebie box of Snoods from League while they’re available.

And if you see Nena PLEASE ask her to make more snoods..they’re snoodilicious!

Styling Notes: Skin by Belleza,  Hair By Elikatira,  Eyes by Ikon. Snood by League,  Sweater by Intrepid, Mesh jeans by Ducknipple and nails by Bamboo. (Bracelets no longer available)

Kitty Says ‘Ello To Ellemeno! (And QE and Waffle)

I’ve done a few hunts recently after becoming the proud owner of some fine virtual norkage, and I promised to write about some of the stores I’d discovered. So here’s me keeping my word 🙂 The main store that I want to tell you about today is called ‘Ellemeno’. It retails quality clothing for the female, busty avatar, and by quality I mean pretty darn good!

It’s the first store that caters to the bigger busted avatar that has, for me at least, evoked the experience that you get from some of the higher end retailers in world. I can’t quite put my finger on the reason for that; I think it’s because of the styling and presentation of the store.  The graphics and photo displays look really professional, as does the way items are presented in store.  It makes me want to shop there, and it makes me eager for more.

But of course, the most important aspect of the store is the merchandise. Ellemeno specialises in tops, jackets, dresses, lingerie and even a few costumes as well.  All of them are well made and suitably displayed in store, inviting you to buy them and try them. There’s a presence on the marketplace too, although I did notice that not everything I found in store was listed on there.

So what kinds of goodies await you? Well, first of all let me tell you about this classic little black dress that I’m wearing. It’s actually a hunt prize, can you believe it? Nope, I couldn’t either. A simple style with a contrast belt making it bang on trend, and it was free as part of the ’Hunt For Your Inner Slut’, ahem.   It’s also mesh! I was so chuffed, I teamed it a classic black bob courtesy of Elikatira ( last few days for that that sale guys, don’t forget!) and had a look Anna Wintour herself would be proud of! Incidentally I’m stood next to the pink version which is rather special as all the proceeds from the sale of this dress will go to the Susan G. Komen For The Cure Breast Cancer Foundation. It costs L$250 and is well worth investing in.

One of the strengths of Ellemeno are the gowns. It’s not easy to find a quality gown if you have norks that you don’t actually want to put out on display, but Ellemeno rises to the challenge.  The ‘Long Formal Gown’, at  L$250 is available in five colours, plus black, and has a high front with a slightly draped back.  The gown is plain apart from an embellished pattern that fades after the waist leaving a plain skirt. It oozes quality and as the name suggests VERY formal and just needs an up-do with signature earrings and bracelet as well as fabulous heels to complete the look. The Tuxedo dress and Tiffany gown are also gorgeous too. The Tuxedo Dress, at L$250, is perfect for accompanying your be-suited fella to a virtual function. The Tiffany Gown however is very special, and the white version would make a spectacular wedding dress. I also really like the versions of the gown which feature rainbows of colour across the main body.  You have to see them to truly appreciate the quality, but at L$150 for the coloured versions, and L$300 for the white, they’re great value.  The Lulu Ruched gown and the Tori dress are also worth investing in; the former is perfect for a masquerade ball (as the accompanying poster in-store suggests) and the latter is ideal for a cocktail party or formal beach gathering.

While the weather is cold you’d do worse than popping on a Fairisle Sweater, and there are six to choose from at Ellemeno.  I really like these because the texture and shading are just right, and they’d look great with tights and boots. Again, just L$250 a pop.

There are lots of wonderful items to see in store and I couldn’t possibly feature all of them here, but I do rate the vintage feel of the ‘Doris Dresses’, the selection of  shirts and most of all the  so-called ‘Open Sweaters’ (They’re hoodies, LOL 🙂 You don’t need to be the ‘Fallen Madonna With The Big Boobies’ (you will only understand that reference if you used to watch ‘Allo Allo’ )to get the benefits of these. They’re gorgeous, with some fantastic textures to choose from including cats (Yay! Cats!) mustaches  tattoos and my own personal faves, owls and gaming gear. These are a great addition to your mesh wardrobe, and would look fab with baggy jeans.

Point to note: There are a couple of hunt items that are well worth picking up in store. One is a milk carton from the ‘Hello Titty’ hunt (which finished on the fifteenth so hurry!) There’s the ‘Hunt For your Inner Slut’ heart to find (go look at the gowns 😉

But perhaps the best thing is that selected items in store bearing a pink ribbon are reduced to half price, with 50% of the proceeds donated to Susan G. Komen For The Cure Breast Cancer Foundation.

Ellemeno is a store I’m adding to my favourites list, and I’m really looking forward to CarrieAnn Lemon’s future releases, in fact, I can’t wait for them! (NOTE: I visited both the mainstore and the satellite store at Cleavage for this post, all hunt items are at the main store)

Image

Kitty wears: Hair By Elikatira, top by QE (at Cleavage), open sweater by Ellemeno and trousers by Sakide.

I mentioned the shopping sim Cleavage in the blurb above, so I want to give a quick shout out to two other stores I found there and really enjoyed; WAFFLE and QE.

QE’s satellite store had only a few pieces on display, but they’re all great, especially the Cashmere Crops, available in an array of colours for L$120 each or a fat-pack of three tones in the same colour range for L$300. I’m wearing a purple cashmere crop in the pic, under the ‘Open Sweater’ by Ellemeno. (It’s a hoody!!) The mainstore is located at Jersey Shore, seems it’s still standing proudly in Second Life!

On the opposite side of the street is WAFFLE, a satellite store with just a few items but all are well-priced and produced. My pick in this store is the Camo Drawstring tube-top. I really love this, and it’s a brilliant price at L$109. I wanted to see a lot more from designer Kiki Paine, so will be sure to check out her mainstore.

Phew! A TON of shopping happy for you there, dear reader! You’d better stock up on those lindens and get your shopping shoes on, it’s time to go pop some tags!

One Billion Rising In Second Life – Come Join Us!

One of the things that makes me proud to be in Second Life is the way that the virtual world can help promote real world causes and events. It often gives people a chance to participate and be heard in a way that they couldn’t in real life.  One issue that’s gained a lot of press recently, and rightly so, is violence towards women.

It’s a horrifying fact that one in three women and girls on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. That adds up to a staggering one billion women.

On Valentine’s Day, Second Life celebrates  women by joining together for One Billion Rising SL. This is a virtual extension of the global event where activists, writers, thinkers, celebrities, and people around the world will walk, dance, and rise as a show of unity, individual strength, and the need for change.

In-world men and women of Second Life are invited to support the cause by dancing and enjoying 24 hours of music on a stunning four-region stage. Some of the best DJ’s in Second Life will be attending and providing the music as the backdrop to this amazing event.

The event also includes an art installation from 18 of the best artists in Second Life.

Please visit the One Billion Rising SL  blog to read more..and go along and show your support  for taking a stand against violence against women.

Kitty’s Value Virtual Valentine’s Day!

Kitty’s Value Virtual Valentine’s Day!

So I set myself a Kitty-challenge to try and find BARGAIN Valentine’s themed items, seeing as we’re all still skint from Xmas. I really didn’t think it would be easy. I set myself these two simple requirements:

*Items MUST be priced L$0 – L$10.

*Items MUST be quality, no naff particles, dodgy textures or poor build quality (Therefore this knocks a lot of stuff right out of the equation..)

With those criteria I thought that I’d set myself up for a fall, but actually I was completely wrong!

You CAN find stuff on the marketplace that’s uber quality yet cheap as chips! (F*ck me right?) But let me tell you about something awesome in world first of all…

Reader, you MUST take a trip over to BAZAR, but you must be quick!  I don’t know how long this offer will be around for, BUT it’s amazing.

In the picture above I’m stood next to the ‘Good Morning Set’; a romantic breakfast for two for just *gulp* ONE LINDEN.  It’s so brilliant that it’s almost obscene, so please, don’t miss out.  It’s a mere NINE prims with a temp rez breakfast. Just outstanding value and perfect to start your Valentine’s Day celebration!

(Note the Bazar Christmas Gift is still out, which is a beautiful festive fireplace, get one and save it in your inventory for later this year!)  There is another brilliant dollarbie available too; a lounger replete with couples poses that is also currently priced at L$1! Get going sharpish!

So back to the marketplace. Log on and do a search using the word ‘Valentine’.  You’ll get a shedload of hits, so tick the box for L$0-L$10 to narrow things down a bit.

You’ll then be presented with 6089 Items.  FOR UNDER TEN LINDENS!!

There are loads of different things to choose from as well; clothing, poses, cuddle rugs, roses..everything you need. So make a brew and get comfy and work your way through the pages finding your Valentine happy. Wonderful fun. Don’t forget you can narrow the crieteria down by choosing from different options. For example, if you want to give a gift to someone, narrow your search down by choosing ‘TRANSFER’ and you’ll still be presented with 2679 items!

So here are a couple of personal recommendations. The outfit that I’m wearing in the picture at the top of this post was indeed a Marketplace find. It’s by Elenya’s Creations, a new store to me but when I visited it was busy. Can you believe this outfit was free!?  You just have to pop by the store to pick up the Tango appliers, should you require them, but that’s no biggy as the store is very nice indeed. The appliers cost L$1, but that’s nothing to worry about because as you can see the dress looks fantastic, but it can also be worn in a number of different ways (as bra and skirt or bra and undies) for all your Valentine happy. Bargainlicious! (Note the dress is priced at L$99 in-store so if you ‘buy’ it on the marketplace you really are bagging a bargain!)

Image

My other recommendation is this lovely bikini.  Again, a marketplace find, this is the ‘Faboo Valentine Batik Bikini’ and it costs Nuffink! It features a lovely  heart-shaped batik print with two styles of top plus ribbon adornments. It’s actually a group gift from a store called FABOO, and it is precisely that as you can see from the picture above. It’s a really brilliant freebie find:)

Of course pressies need to be wrapped. If you’re looking for quirkiness the LISP BAZAAR has an absolute SHEDLOAD of amazing items priced between L$0-L$10.  There’s a set  of three utterly beautiful Valentine’s gift-boxes  for just L$10 for a start LISP BAZAAR actually has 228 items priced between L$0-L$10 on the marketplace, all quality goodies worth a punt. (There’s a further 93 items between L$50-L$100!)

What Next? also retails a fab set of gifting boxes at L$10, as well as an assortment of goodies under L$10. Like LISP BAZAAR, way too many to list here, let alone check on perms, but be assured all will be quality.

So there you go, if you want bargain Valentine’s goodies for the one you love, then you really have no excuse as they are out there and are very easy to find…

Hope you have a wonderful day with your loved ones!
