LOTD: What’s New Pixicat?

LOTD: What’s New Pixicat?

Kit_005

When it comes to brands one of my absolute favourites in-world is PIXICAT. I’ve said before on these pages and I stand by it 100% the tops that Areve makes are second to none. I don’t like everything designed by the brand (like some of the more ‘out-there’ outfits and role-play items for example) but when it comes to fashion basics I’m at the front of the queue on new release day.
PIXICAT’s latest dress release is something to behold too, released at KUSTOM9 in an array of colours perfect for every taste and something I would be incredibly inclined to buy in a fat-pack if you can afford to. Alas, I can’t, so treated myself to the red version and I couldn’t be more pleased with it.
What I love about this frock, apart from the length and the cut-out on the sleeves (which shows off my tattoo beautifully)  is the texture because it looks like a fine, jersey rib cotton.  I have items made of that fabric in real life and it’s lovely and comfortable to wear, so I can really imagine how this dress would feel.  I like that the belt perfectly cinches the waist too.  I’m not a huge fan of belted dresses but this one is absolute perfection. It’s beautifully rendered, and I really like the tucks and creases in the fabric that add a great touch of authenticity to the look.
This dress would look fabulous with an up-do, but I chose to wear it with my hair long and loose, courtesy of my previously blogged MURRAY ‘Giorgia’ hairstyle. I kept accessories simple with just a bag as my embellishment, but what a bag!   This outfit screams for a statement piece to really make it sing, and my choice is the fabulous ‘ Le Visage Purse’ by NYLON OUTFITTERS. By choosing the black and white design, I’m echoing the patent black of my belt.
Last but not least are my shoes; now of course I could have gone black for a totally formal look but I wanted a more casual twist, so to provide that I’ve added my super clunky PURE POISON ‘Boho’ heels.  These are a real favourite of mine and I can dress them up or down with ease. The detail on the leather is really quite something too; they look heavy and the rivets and buckle are very realistic, plus the tone of these sandals is similar to the colour of my hair, so it gives the entire outfit a well-balanced feel. I love it, and I think this is a great look to start the week off in style.

LOTD: Kitty Dares To Double Denim

LOTD: Kitty Dares To Double Denim

double denim_002I have no shame.

For a  ‘Fashionista’ (spits tea all over keyboard) you’ll find me wandering the grid looking more like a ruddy virtual bag lady rather than the epitome of elegance and a show-piece for Second Life design.  For example, while writing this post I was trolling the grid dressed head to foot in demos. Demo top, demo skirt, demo hair. No ears. I looked like a ruddy chuff to be frank, and I didn’t care a  jot..because I was DEMOING ALL THE THINGS!!

And there are a LOT OF THINGS out there demanding demo time..
I tripped over to KUSTOM9 earlier and went mad for all the denim. I have a love/hate relationship with denim in real life, I can never get a decent pair of jeans to fit due to the fact that I have a pot belly the size of a small continent, but in Second Life of course you don’t get those issues.  In fact, I felt so empowered by denim trip that I found myself breaking the ultimate fashion rule. You should never, EVER do double-denim. And me being the rebellious type, I went all out for triple. At the time of writing I still have all my teeth and haven’t felt the need to cut my hair into a mullett..so I think I’m safe:)

I snatched the MOTIAMIE tied denim shirt and coupled it with the BUENO denim top. These are both extremely well shaped and textured; I found that the denim top fitted extremely well under this shirt. Occasionally I find I get issues with multiple alphas and mesh items just not working that well when layered but these are spot on.  Once I was sporting them I decided to visit the creator main stores to check out their other items. I couldn’t find one sadly for BUENO, but MOTIAME is right up my street. It seems to be a temp store in a skybox but is definitely worth a look, I spotted some excellent items, like the sporty dress and a gorgeous striped sweater as well as a fabulous array of Kimono. MOTIAME is definitely added to my watch-list!

I also scooped up this fabulous hairstyle by MOON, a brand along with SPELLBOUND that I’ve really been digging this year. Of course, I had to have it because it’s a bob, and you all know how much I adore my bobs,  but I really liked the shape, with the loose tendrils to one side and the ear-tuck. Oh, and it’s also called ‘Mourning Sickness’, which I thought was a fantastic name.

double denim_001Last but not least, an honourable mention to these awesome ears from THE MENS DEPT, courtesy of CASA CHEERNO. They’re super easy to wear and the re-size and the colour match hud was practically spot-on when it came to matching the ears to my stunning skin, ‘SKYE’ by NAR MATTARU ( in tone 3).   It’s just absolutely delicious, especially when worn with the stunning ‘Gentle Breeze’ ombre lipstick. I’ve loved so many skin releases this year but the NAR MATTARU brand has been a real find for me personally and is always an absolute treat to wear.

To finish my look I added the latest necklace release from Yummy because it’s absolutely wonderful and appeals to my witchy sensibilities. It’s the most sublime collection of crystal pendants including a divining pendulum and they’re set on silver chains. The texture on the crystals is absolutely spot-on, but you’d never expect anything less from Polyester Partridge.

Last but not least, I added a septum ring and some favourite eyeliner from MONS to complete my look leaving me ready for the weekend in triple-denim style. What do you think?

Happy New Year

Hey There Kitty Readers!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I hope you had an amazing Yuletide season! I know I did; I was absolutely blooming ruined and it was marvellous:)

I am still wading my way through tons of calorific treats and drinkies and yes, I have grown to the size of a small planet, but I care not, a fabulously festive time was had by one and all. Well, until I acquired yet another stinking cold. Regular readers will recall that back in November I was really ill and alas I managed to acquire some more germs yet again after Christmas! I mean how totally ridiculous is that? It’s just not on, it really isn’t. So basically I didn’t log in world over Xmas much due to RL-work and then being ill, so I missed out on a heck of a lot of Yuletide festivities, which is pretty unfortunate. But now I’m back online and playing catch-up. (Let’s not talk about the fact that I’ve missed out on a L$500 Gos Boutique credit shall we? I mean no, let’s NOT TALK ABOUT THAT!)

It’s funny, but I really do miss my time in-world when I’m not able to log-in so it was with mucho Kitty Gusto that I burst into Second Life earlier with a pressing need to go shopping. I knew exactly where I wanted to go too; FAMESHED and KUSTOM 9.   Let’s start with Kustom 9. I don’t really know much about this event at all but meandered over in an excited manner to check out the goodies on sale and the Gachas that are available to play. I’ve seen a number of lovely items on various blogs from this event, most noticeably the glorious  AMITOMO coat combo that Heidi Volare recently blogged, but my Lindens are somewhat limited so alas, I couldn’t splash the cash around as much as I would like. (In Second Life, just like real life, I am a skint Kitty, but then again who isn’t in January?)  But I have been very poorly so therefore deserved a treat, obviously. And what a glorious treat I found!

Feast your eyes on the splendidness of this epic jacket that I found at Kustom 9. It’s from MARSHMALLOWS,  a brand that I am familiar with but I’m now even more keen to learn more about.  This jacket is called ‘Lisa’, so I had to have it really. *blushes* (Kitty insider tip: that will be because that’s my real name..shush!) It’s a fabulous leather jacket that is reminiscent of the classic Aviator style, but with a modern twist. Instead of a bulging sheepskin collar this piece features a more refined edge to the collar, cuffs and bottom, and rather than being festooned with buckles it has one simple buckle at the collar teamed with a zip to the front.  There’s a feminine twist courtesy of a built-in bow belt (try to say that after a few too many cheeky Vimtos!), and the dramatic, bold and super-stylised shape of the shoulders make for a shapely silhouette.  I knew as soon as I saw this that I HAD TO HAVE IT.

Kustom 9 'Lisa' Jacket From Marshmallows

It’s not just the shape that appealed to me about this jacket either, the leather texture is one of the best I’ve seen yet  in Second Life, and it’s been applied beautifully. The lighting and shading and creasing all look spot on too; zooming in for a close-up look  is very satisfying indeed. The jacket is chunky and ‘feels’ substantial,  and detail such as belt-loops and even the tortoiseshell buttons on the cuff-straps look excellent. Nothing has been neglected.  To top it all off it fits like a dream; I opted for the medium jacket and have had no issues with it suiting my shape. I opted to team this with a skirt available at the event from the same designer. I’m a sucker for a short, denim skirt and MARSHMALLOWS has three at the event in blue and dark-blue denim, as well as black. I opted for the darker shade and again, this is a great piece of mesh.  There are no added studs or stitching elements here, instead texture is used to suggest those elements and on the whole it works really well. The bum-pockets stick out to add a 3D feel, and the skirt looks authentic.  It will wear really well with tees and other mesh items in my inventory, I’ve no doubt about that.  The skirt when worn with the medium jacket presented me with no fitting issues, which is a blessing when wearing multiple mesh pieces,  and I couldn’t be happier with my outfit. Congratulations to RoMy Dash on her sensational work, and I’m looking forward to more of the same in 2014!

  • Marshmallows ‘Lisa’ Jacket – Available in Beige, Brown, Black and Tan -L$199 (Kitty wears Brown)
  • Marshmallows ‘Rozy’ Skirt – Available in Blue, Dark Blue and Black -L$99 (Kitty wears Dark Blue)

Second Life pricing can be a minefield and it must be difficult to know what to charge, especially after you have spent hours working on a piece and shed blood, sweat and tears whilst crafting your creation. I expected to pay at least L$350 for the jacket alone , and believe me it is worth it, so I almost died when I realised I could buy this beauty for L$199! Even better, the skirt is a measly L$99 too, so that means that if you’re a Second Life premium subscriber when you receive your L$300 stipend  on Tuesday you can go and get this entire outfit and still have change!  OOF!
