Mesh Body Addicts – Yoga Practise

Yoga_002Sundays, a day of rest and relaxation.  Well, for some of us, like my cat Mylo in the background it’s definitely a day to be chill.  Me? I’ve put on some relaxing tunes and I’m throwing down some yoga moves in style!

MESH BODY ADDICTS is back and personally I think it’s the best round yet, with some fabulous fashion from formal to casualwear, which is what I’ve opted for here. These fantastic Sunday separates are from CYNFUL, which is one of those brands that seems to have been around forever in Second Life, but still manages to grow from strength to strength.  That’s because the quality of the items they sell never ceases to amaze.  I mean,

The items I’m wearing here are the pretty simple (and perfectly titled)  ‘Lazy About’ top and sweatpants, yet they’re textured to perfection (check out the crease-shading on the top, oosh!) and you can even change the colour of the drawstrings and eyelets on the pants via HUD.  I’ll get a LOT of wear out of these items; worn together they’re super casual yet the top would look great with denim (jeans or skirt, no matter) and the bottoms will look mighty fine with all kinds of tees and sloppy jumpers.

The pants are low-riders which means you can see my underwear which is from LUXURIA at ROMP. I have an affinity for all things Japanese, so seeing the Sakura blossom pattern on this lingerie meant I obviously had to have it, and like all LUXURIA pieces it fits like a dream and looks beautiful too. (It’s odd but I actually don’t like my avatar to not wear underwear; any other readers find themselves doing the same?)yoga 2_002Last but not least let me give a shout-out to another awesome event that has just started, and that is HAIROLOGY.  There are some utterly fantastic styles on show this round.

A couple really caught my eye too; both by PR!TTY   Problem is, I tried the demos for both but neither fit my mesh head properly, and being a mesh-head noob I’m not sure how to rectify that (any ideas?). Don’t let that put you off trying them out though, I’ve started to really enjoy wearing longer hairstyles over the past 12 months and both of these are incredibly sweet.

As  you can see I opted for short and sharp while I busted my asana on the yoga mat; this style is called ‘Natia’ by AMACCI and I really love the shape of the cut.  It frames the face incredibly well, starting short on the right hand side, but with a feeling of being swept through before it reaches the left hand side where it’s left long and full and covers the eye. It’s super feminine and an absolute joy to wear.

Blimey, three events in one blog post! I have to say there is some cracking retail therapy to be had in-world at the moment, but you definitely shouldn’t give MESH BODY ADDICTS BI-MONTHLY, ROMP*  or HAIROLOGY a miss!

*Especially if you don’t know what ‘Figging’ is.  I didn’t and  I now consider myself educated..

Merry Christmas Kittyreaders!

Merry Christmas Kittyreaders!

christmas_002Well I was hoping that I’d be able to blog a lot more before Christmas but as you can see the blog has been scarily quiet since the beginning of the month. The TL;DR version is that my RL work, instead of quietening down, turned the volume up to 11 and as a result I’ve been too exhausted to blog!  Not to worry, here’s the last post of the year and Kitty’s all ready and waiting for Jez with one of her many cats in front of the fire; I can’t think of a nicer way to see in 2016. Have a wonderful time guys! christmas_003Here’s wishing all my wonderful Kittyreaders a fantastic Christmas and a very spiffing new year celebration.

Lawks-a-lawdy, I’m BACK!!!

Lawks-a-lawdy, I’m BACK!!!

OH HAI! So, I’m pleased to announce that my wonderful PC is here; I’m back in Second Life and I’m playing Kitty catch-up with mucho gusto. Guys, the PC is so much better than I could have ever dreamed about, I’ve been thoroughly spoiled and I can run SL in Ultra without it even breaking a sweat.  Thank you so much to my beloved, Jez, for spending a small fortune upon me. I promise I’m worth it!  The difference it’s making to my picture taking is beyond belief too and here’s a funny thing; I’ve noticed that just by using the one-click ‘enhance’ function in Windows 10 photo settings my pictures are spruced up to such an extent that I’m not even needing to Picmonkey them (unless I want to, of course). 26092015_002Of course, it helps if your foundations are good to start with, and they are precisely that for this shot. I’m wearing ZOUL CREATIONS ‘Brianna’ skin, the ‘Cara’ dress from APHORISM and this exceptional beehive, ‘Fall Ball’ from VANITY HAIR.  I’m really loving the recent up-do releases from VANITY HAIR and they each add an element of sophistication to your outfits.  This style in particular, ‘Fall Ball’,  is a bit of a bargain, and it’s currently available on the marketplace in the absolutely perfect ‘Must Haves’ pack for a measly L$50! (No, I’m not joking, look!)

The ‘Cara’ dress from APHORISM is a lovely, solid mesh outfit that also exudes class and under-stated glamour.  The full sleeves with contrast cuffs and collar add a retro edge to an otherwise basic shift.  Simple and super effective, when teamed with this hairstyle you really don’t need to accessorise that much to achieve maximum awesome from your look.  Of course quality footwear is a must with an outfit of this kind, and I feel that despite the dress being simple it’s worthy of more than a pair of simple flats.  Fortunately, N-CORE have come to the rescue with these astonishing ALEXANDRA boots.  As boots go these are just stunning; well textured and with the kind of heel that means you can clean the cobwebs from the ceiling with your head! They cover plenty of bases: dress ‘em saucy and kinky or use them to just add an element of pizzaz to an otherwise relatively conservative outfit, which is just what I’ve done here. The Arcade_008To finish is the ‘Brianna’ skin, yet another simply imperial release from SHANTIA SOULSTAR who has worked her backside off in 2015 producing some absolutely top-notch skins.   Every single release has been a winner, with Shantia’s exemplary make-ups adding totally new dimensions to her skin range.  I challenge you to find a better array of bespoke lipsticks and eyeshadows.  Each release is a treat, ‘Brianna’ is no exception! I think you’ll agree that this is a cracking look to return with, and get ready for some serious LOTD posts as I get back into the swing of blogging.  It’s October which means there is lots to get excited about on the grid; Second Life really does seem to come alive at this time of year! HUZZAH!

Amy x

I remember one day about six years ago I was sat at my desk in RL work and was raging about how badly Amy Winehouse was being treated (yet again) by the press. It was clear that poor Amy was going through sheer hell battling her own personal demons, yet the press seemed to relish nothing more than hounding her as she seemingly self-destructed. I recall a colleague at the time saying to me in an astonished voice “You really do care what happens to her don’t you?” and the fact was yes, I did very much.

I loved Amy’s work. It wasn’t just the fact that she had a soaring voice and a vocal range that belied her young years, she also wrote lyrics  from the heart that were totally relatable to.  That said, I didn’t like her very much; she came across badly in print and on screen and it took me a while to see through how she was being represented, but once I did I understood (as well as I could) that her behaviour stemmed from the fact that she was deeply troubled.  Her drunken TV appearances and completely crazed antics were fuelled by more than drink and drugs, they were acts of utter despair and cries for help that only now we seem to recognise.  And yet either no help was offered, or for some reason it was refused.  Of course, it ended tragically and we lost someone that we should have cherished and nurtured rather than criticised and condemned.

I won’t watch the recent documentary about her, not yet anyway, although this clip gives me the shivers..

I don’t think I can bear to watch the progression of her condition and the ultimate sad outcome.  Many people scoffed when she passed that it was a certainty that she would die young, but did it really have to be so? I can’t help but think we were cheated by her death.  She was an amazing artist but she could have become so much more had she lived, and when I listen to her I sometimes feel very angry because we lost her.

For me she was at her most beautiful when she was recording the album ‘Frank’.  She had long hair, hooped earrings and an absolutely fantastic figure; she looked healthy and happy and stunningly beautiful.  Contrast that image with her in the ‘Back To Black’ video and she looks completely different; styled to within an inch of her with the melancholy beginning to really show.

But I think the most enduring image we have of Amy is of the towering semi- beehive hairstyle and the powerful black eyeliner that she sported along with Fred Perry shirts, short skirts and ballerina pumps.  That’s what I’ve been inspired to recreate here; using the outstanding hairstyle named after her from VANITY HAIR and my old favourite eyeliner from MONS.

Amy was almost ten years younger than me; she was born 14th September 1983 (I was born 13th September 1973) and since we (almost) share the same birthday I always raise a glass to her on mine, and thank her for the wonderful music she left behind.  I’ll be doing that again this year and  I’d like to think that wherever she is now she’s at peace, she recognises her own talents and finally feels the love and admiration that all her fans, myself included, continue to have for her.  RIP Amy.
