Tights (aka pantyhose) are a quintessentially female thing.

Unless of course you’re an MP with a funny fetish, but enough of that…

Today is ‘International Women’s Day’ celebrating what it means to be female and recognising not only how far we have come, but how much we have left to achieve. Don’t be fooled; despite amazing advancements in Politics, the workplace and equal rights we still have a long way to go before true emancipation, and until then we still have to shave our legs, pull on our pantyhose and make ourselves presentable, eh? ( I jest of course!)

BUT if tights are indeed your thing then you’ll be pleased to know that you can get a dollarbie pair of sparkly tights from ‘Shania’s Sock Shop’ to celebrate with. I dunno, I’m not sure dollarbie tights send out the right message on International Women’s Day but the thought is nice, and it’s better that than dungarees. Besides, they look pretty funky with this Guila dress by Baiastice from ‘The Dressing Room’s latest collection, don’t you think?

Incidentally Shania will be participating in the ‘I Need A Dollar’ hunt, running from March 7 and running until April 4th. Each item is a dollar, and Shania’s item is a pair of dollar emblazoned tights. TOTALLY slutty and would make a perfect pole-dancing outfit when worn with a pair of cut-off denim shorts and a tie-front top..in case you were wonderin’. (Again, a great image for Women’s Day there..ahem!)

So I dragged Jez, kicking and squealing like a big girl’s blouse, from WoW and into Second Life so that I could take him shopping. Surely a guy needs a break from bashing Orcs and twatting Goblins? (You’d think he’d be grateful!)

I wanted him to peruse the new ‘Male Mondays’ collection. I expected big things from this, seeing as it’s been created by Gidge Uriza and Gabe Bookmite, both total fashion divas in their own right, so I knew there would be some fab stuff on offer and for an inaugural event it wasn’t so bad.

TP in and you’ll find a selection of stalls featuring content from well known vendors neatly laid out and on the whole the quality is pretty good…it’s easy to navigate which is essential for a bloke when he goes shopping. They get lost so easily!

Most of the attire fell into the tees and shirts category when we visited..a few vendors hadn’t put their items out as well. Most noticably absent were KMADD, because you always expect something stylish from them. As well as attire there were accessories including hair, jewellery and boots as well as a dandy hat and cane from DECO!  CLUTTER provides a very macho office set; The ‘Scottsdale Office’ is practically the perfect masculine working environment, featuring a desk and an office chair both with ten sits, (5 prims apiece) and desk with wearable pencil (16 prims). Sadly he couldn’t have that because I’m low on prims, but I did treat him to the SUR+ ‘Editors Cut’ pack of high fashion tees featuring leather shoulder patches and an assymetric neckline. Other items to look for include the beautifully textured ‘Henley’ tee from CHINESE TAKEOUT. There is also an astonishing (seriously!) pose prop from STUDIO SIDHE, and DIESEL WORKS provide some great male modelling poses too. I also insisted he purchased the swimming trunks from LAZYBUM…just because I like perving at him. Ahem.

It’s great to have a shopping event aimed at the fellas and I look forward to this growing stronger and becoming as much of a fixture on the grid as Fifty Linden Friday, wouldn’t that be something? Plus, our chaps would look so darn hot. Oh and the best bit? Nothing costs over L$100:) I know!

Friday soon comes around doesn’t it?

As always I poddle on over to The Rumor blog and see what they’ve listed and decide what I am going to go and check out in more detail. There are only a few items that caught my eye this week; a lovely stone gazebo from Cheeky Pea (Didn’t get it, purely because I don’t have enough prims but I do suggest that you go and check it out) and a fabulous jewellery set from League that I scraped my Lindens together for because I just had to have it.

And here it is..rather resplendent don’t you think? It’s called ‘Wanderer’ and has an ethnic vibe. It’s a combination of wooden-textured beading and initially what I thought to be Chinese coins, but I think they’re just symbolic devices used to give the piece a bit of oomph. It’s fabulous, and not only that it comes with a vast array of mix and match options so you can elect to have as many, or as little ‘coins’ on your necklace or bracelet as you wish. You can also select from a variety of different strand options. The set includes earrings which I am wearing BUT you can’t see them because of my hair.

This is indeed a bit of a ‘wanderin’ star’  (Oho- see what I did there?)  A very special set indeed, wonderful value  and easy to dress up or down. Well worth your fifty lindens don’t you think?

It’s *ages* since I made a new shape, so here’s something for Kittylicious shape fans to enjoy!

This is ‘Natalie’, and she’s a very svelte but beautifully proportioned avatar shape. I think she’s actually the slimmest shape that I’ve ever created. I really had to go beyond my comfort zone with her, because I genuinely prefer my shapes to have mucho meato on their bones.

That said, I recognise that there are such thing as skinny girls in real life so it’s only fair that I accommodate their needs as well! Besides, she is a bit gorgeous isn’t she?

The photos should give you a taster of  the silhouette the shape provides; I’ve worked hard on the nose to produce a less curved shape but I’ve kept the luscious pout. Eyes are smaller on this shape than my norm, and the chin and cheekbones are less angular.  Hand size is set to 10, feet are set to 0, and she is completely MOD and COPY so that you can tweak away to your heart’s content with her. Add a few pounds here and there, increase the boobage, it’s entirely up to you! Both Jez and I noticed that this shape bears a facial similarity to ‘Quinn’ (Dianna Agron) from ‘Glee’ so I’m also going to show you a photo where she’s a blonde, so see if you can see the resemblance!

‘Natalie’ will be on sale on the marketplace ONLY, because my store at Nu will be closing shortly. I’d like to thank Amanda and Sable for all the support they’ve given me during my tenure there, but from now on all my shapes will only be available for purchase from the Second Life marketplace.

It will take me a few days to get her on there, but if you can’t wait feel free to ping me for the shape!
