Cleaning Out My Closet

Cleaning Out My Closet

Recent readers will have seen me wax lyrical about CROIRE, and I had a wee surprise today from the designer behind the brand, Emily Kaestner, when she dropped this rather large closet upon me…literally speaking of course.
It’s a relatively unfussy, multi-textured delight, with lightbulbs that can be turned on and off and colour change cushions. It also features three different poses and would look great in the corner of your virtual bedroom.
Even better is the fact that on Saturday it costs just L$40! I love bargain furniture, especially when it has novel features like this and is priced to sell. Indulge your closet fantasies, head to CROIRE!

Tilly and Tuli

Tilly and Tuli

Two things that have put a smile on my anxious kitty – chops today are these wonders from two of Second Life’s uber-designers..Truth Hawks and Tuli Asturias.
First up we have the beautiful ‘Tanya’ preview skin that is a giftie for group members at the Tuli mainstore (Remember, have your group tag activated) As you would expect from a Tuli skin, this one is beautifully rendered and has stunning highlighting. Just look at the clavicles and the philtrum and see how beautifully they are defined…awesome. The brows are nice and strong and it bodes well for the future release, I cannot wait to see what make-up options will be available!
I’m also wearing the super-amazing latest ‘Bacon’ hair release from Truth ( I call it bacon hair because it’s streaky..geddit?) which is a rioutous affair, it reminds me of Glambert and this shade, Cranberry, looks beautiful with the Tuli skin, don’t you think?
A final nod to Tuli, the eyes that I am wearing are another freebie for group members available in-store. These are ‘Gem Eyes’, I am wearing the Ruby flavour for this shot, and I think they work quite well but I must confess that I’m not mad about the actual texture upon the iris…however, they’re a freebie from Tuli so definitely NOT to be sniffed at, and the gift features five gem colours so there’s something for everyone.

Wheel Of The Year hunt items

Wheel Of The Year hunt items

Although it’s one of the most frustrating hunts that I have ever participated in, it is still worth your while to try the Litha ‘Wheel Of The Year’ hunt. So far I have been impressed by the majority of the items that have been included; but there have been a few desperately poor prizes too. Alas, you get these in every hunt, and it’s important to remember that these are freebies and we are all blessed with delete buttons so do get ready to use them! But minor grumbles aside be prepared for some nice items that you will be more than happy to make space for in your inventory.

If you are planning a Summer Solstice ritual in-world then you should definitely look for some of these goodies. For example, this Green Man mask and necklace ( #52 – GILDED and #47 MARYMAC respectively) would be perfect for the rite, as would the Oak Leaf Chaplet ( for the male) and the Circlet (for the female) from #28 BAMBI, who also provide a pretty good complete altar set up as part of their gift for you to use, very generous indeed. (Note: the head-dresses aren’t transfer so you will both need to pick up this particular hunt item) Incidentally, the rather funky sun pentacle eyes are the prize from #51 AVATAR BIZARRE.  There are quite a few bonfire type constructions included as prizes, some better than others but all of them are pretty worthy items. I guess seeing as it’s a Solar festival it’s to be expected. The large bonfire structure that is the gift number #24 from OCTOBER ALCHEMY will be perfect for November 5th! ( Bonfire Night party at my place then!)
I also really love the campfire and stones FROM #3 PAINFULLY DIVINE, as well as the ‘Ancient Offerings Altar’ from #53 BEARCUB.

AVON + ALPHA (#25) have provided a lovely set of jewellery for the hunt, featuring chamomile flowers and emeralds, and it really looks the part when worn with the prize dress from PASARELLA (#30) and head-dress from BAMBI, as mentioned before.

Be warned though, some of the hunt items are VERY tough to find, and I’ve left more than my fair share of locations empty handed on this one. But if you enjoy hunts I do recommend that you give it a try..

Best of luck, you have until July 12th to complete it, and you’re halway there if you use the hints and direct TP’s featured on the official blog HERE.

Have fun, and you may well bump into me, I’m going to go back to visit some of the locations that I failed so miserably at!

Big Bad Blogger Challenge..Day Four!

Big Bad Blogger Challenge..Day Four!

SL Bloggers – Is your avatar more or less your current biological age? Do you portray a younger avatar, or older? Why is this?

I don’t know why, but I always tend to think of Kitty as being between 30-35. I’m 36, so I tend to envisage her as being close to my own age, but she is essentially ageless. She has no need for botox or wrinkle fillers, and I can change her appearance upon a whim. I’d have no problem wearing an older skin upon her, should I want to, but as for younger? I don’t think her shape lends itself to portraying anything other than a woman, rather than a girl, and I’m certainly happier when she has curves in all the right places. I don’t envision Kitty as a better me, because that would be a bit silly. I am a very different shape for a start in real life, and I have my flaws-but they are what makes me as a person. Kitty is my virtual representative- we have the same personality, but her look is whatever I want it to be on any given day..which is one of the reasons why Second Life is so much fun. If I want facial piercings and a Mohawk I can have them..in real life that would be a definite no-no!
