Big Bad Blogger Challenge..Day Two!

Big Bad Blogger Challenge..Day Two!

SL Bloggers – Write about three positive things going on in your Second Life.

Three positives? Well one is my business, Kittylicious. I’m going to be celebrating the first birthday of the brand very soon, and I’m gobsmacked by the success that I’ve had. I started with a small range of shapes on a market stall in the Malt sim, moved into a small store, then a larger one, and now I have two stores; a satellite store upon the fantastic Second Style Island, and my flagship main store on the amazing NuRepublik sim. I create for love, not money and it gives me great joy when people tell me that they wear my shapes and enjoy them.

A simple pleasure for me, but a very valid one nonetheless. Another one is connected to this blog, because if I didn’t have a Second Life Kittywitchin’ wouldn’t exist and I get so much from writing this blog and from creating the images for it. But the most positive thing in my Second Life are my friendships, especially with Amanda and Sable. They’re friends in a million, the kind that don’t often frequent a real life, let alone a second one, so for that I am very blessed.

Big Bad Blogger Challenge..Day One!

Big Bad Blogger Challenge..Day One!

I’ve decided to partake in the ‘Big Bad Blogger Challenge 2010’, because it’s always a lot of fun and it MAKES you blog every day for fear of the guilt trip that hits you if you don’t!

( If you would like to partake, the details can be found HERE upon Alicia Chenaux’s ever wonderful Ch’Know blog)

Today, June 13th, marks the start of the challenge, and the first question is…

Why did you become a blogger? How has it enriched your life?

I became a blogger purely because I thought that it would prove useful to my Second Life experience and it would give me a vent for my failed journalistic ambitions. I’d studied Journalism at college, but done nothing with the qualification. When I joined Second Life I soon became aware of the blogging community, in particular a fashion blog called ‘Linden Lifestyles‘ which I adored (IMHO it was the best SL fashion blog setting the benchmark for what was to follow..the archives are still there but oh, how I miss it!)

By writing the blog I have grown a huge network of contacts, made wonderful new friends and visited amazing places. I’ve discovered some fantastic designers and had experience after experience in this mad crazy virtual world that we all call home. The blog gives me a kick up the backside when I most need it; I’m not writing for anyone else’s pleasure but my own really, but when I see the amount of hits that my blog has had it spurs me on to write something new. That can only be a healthy thing, and it means I have to get off my (virtual) butt and go and find something to write about. In other words, the blog helps to keep me mentally active and has stretched my writing and computing skills, and it also provides an artistic vent. I’ve discovered the joys of taking photographs in-world and have spent hours playing about with different effects in Flickr to make my photos look good. Kittywitchin’ isn’t your usual reviews blog, purely because I don’t get beseiged by review packs like other bloggers do. I tend to review purchases that I’ve made, but I also include features about in-world events and more recently have started blogged specifically about Witchcraft in Second Life, noting places to shop and visit aimed towards those of a Pagan persuasion, like myself.

Finally, the blog also serves as an advertising tool for my very own business in-world, Kittylicious shapes. I never thought I’d ever create anything that I could sell virtually but I do and I derive great pleasure from it. Owning the blog means I can plug myself a wee bit, but I am careful to not overload the pages with advertisements for myself because Kittywitchin’ isn’t about that. It’s about experiences I’ve had in-world and also the people that populate it, the fashion that they wear, the dwellings in which they live and  the content creators that make all those things. It’s all about throwing them a bit of love and saying thanks for making my virtual experience so pivotal to my real life existence…and that’s how this blog has enriched my life, because it’s given me a true meaning for my virtual existence that has had a direct, positive impact on my real one, and for that I am eternally grateful.

Ain’t Got No Money in My Pocket, But I’m Already Here..

Ain’t Got No Money in My Pocket, But I’m Already Here..

See this skin? Believe it or not, this beauty (‘Megan’) is a Super Bargain Saturday item from TIK TOK, and I am extremely enamoured with it. The reason? Well for the money the quality is beyond excellent; it has lovely tone upon the body, as well as great definition upon all the key features. The mouth, as you can see, is really luscious, the nose is beautifully shaped and the eyes are delicately shaded. The eyebrows are really well constructed too (I would prefer them a shade darker but that’s just a minor niggle) I have no real complaints at all, I’m astonished that for the money I’ve got a skin that’s genuinely rather special. The body is just as good too with the nipples, bellybutton and, erm, “lady parts” all well-drawn. The breasts in particular look very nice indeed. It even comes with two versions of the skin for the price; one with cleavage, and one without. It’s a steal at the price…I’ve also tried on demos of the other skins in store (to be reviewed at a later date when I can go back and buy them all) and they too are rather glorious. I love it when I strike skin-gold, and TIK TOK is just that.

Yay Yay It’s Caturday!!

Yay Yay It’s Caturday!!

Ok, it’s Saturday, so that means that it’s ‘Super Bargain Saturday‘ whereby a number of retailers offer some happy wee items for just 60L. I completely missed Fifty Linden Friday this week, doh!, so I was determined to not miss Saturday. As usual with this kind of event it’s a mixed bag, but I recommend checking out this great ‘Celestial’ tattoo from PARA DESIGNS. There are some nifty freebies there too that you should indulge yourself with; they really do produce excellent tattoos, and I especially like the fact that they retail sets that cater especially for viewer 2.0 I have no idea how we’ve managed without a tattoo layer, and when the option to layer the layers comes in a future 2.0 update I can imagine everyone’s ARC soaring into the millions! I care not a jot, it’s going to completely revolutionise the way we wear outfits in SL.
Also featured is a dress I picked up from a completely new store to me ( That isn’t featured in Super Bargain Saturday, but I found it whilst doing the rounds) called MY PINKIE SKULL. Where *do* people find their store names? It sells a great range of streetwear in bright colours as well as hair and accessories. I spotted lots of cool items, in particular a really funky catsuit and this rather sweet ‘Unzzip Me’ dress. Why did I buy it? Simple, the creasing and the shading really work, as does the zip detail and the prim cuffs upon the arms. You get two options, one with the stars detail and one without, which makes it super versatile. I also really like the arm wraps, which are a new release in store and you can *just* make them out in this picture. They come in 8 different combinations and make a great addition to an outfit..I love items like that. Also worth a mention is the pose, which IS part of the Super Bargain Saturday event. It’s called ‘Your Turn’, and it’s part of the ‘Model Poses 2’ pack, from BUBBLE (which is next to ‘My Pinkie Skull’) and you get 10 poses for L$60, and they’re pretty nifty too. Finally I MUST mention the hair that I am wearing, yes it’s another TRUTH spectacular and it’s featuring colour-change streaks again…I am *loving* the hair that he is creating at the moment, and these streak options are really making his styles go that extra mile. This one is called ‘Peyton’ and if you want to avoid the usual lag-fest at the Truth mainstore you’ll find it available on X-street.
Now, please excuse me- I need to go and change my skin from this lovely CURIO beauty to a skin that cost just L$60 and is rather spesh….BRB!
