Break On Through To The Other Side

Break On Through To The Other Side

Cosmopolitan‘ has always been a bit of a hit or miss event for me. Sometimes I’ll drop by and find some absolutely hideous things on sale, and other months I’ll visit and it’s packed to the brim with wonderful stuff. I’m happy to say this month is one of those better occasions where quality abounds, and I picked up some rather fabulous things which I’ll share with you in coming posts.

The highlight for me, however, has to be this romper suit by ADORSY. I genuinely absolutely detest romper suits in real life. I really do! To me, they just look wrong and worst of all, when you want a wee you end up sitting on the toilet butt naked because you have to take the whole thing off. Nope, I’m not fussed about that inconvenience. However, this being Second Life I can wear a romper without worrying if I’ll freeze to death as I sit on the porcelain throne.

This one is a bit of a corker too; ticking all the boxes style-wise. It features the statement cold shoulder look coupled with puffed sleeves AND defined, slim fitting cuffs. Sounds awful on paper, but looks great in reality. The draping at the front is effective and the contrast belt really adds an edge. It’s beguilingly simple yet manages to look sophisticated despite the fact that it’s a frigging romper suit…who’d have thought it?

I have no patience and the vendor took AGES so I ended up buying it twice. I probably should send a notecard to the creator, Raven Corith, about that but I’m a very lazy person and besides, I don’t begrudge him the extra Lindens when I’ve bought something that makes me so happy.

It’s also a great way to feature body art, which brings me to my second find at Cosmopolitan, a very simple but super pretty tattoo by AURICA. This ‘Rita’ tattoo is L$199 and impressively simple in design; a v-neck pattern that falls between the breasts at the front and is repeated on the back, with matching elements on the arms. Perfect for when you want body decoration, but nothing too elaborate.

Last but not least I’m in dire need of some new poses. Fortunately, Cosmopolitan delivered here too. SEMOTION are there with the ‘Modeling Pose Set 56’ and it’s a great collection of ten bento compatible poses for L$420 (or you can purchase separately at L$50 per pose) A tad on the pricey side but worth it, in my opinion, some of these will make for great shots, in particular, the one I’m using in this picture, ‘SE Modeling-541’

I’m late to visit this round of Cosmopolitan, it closes in a couple of days, but it’s definitely worth your time this round. you can click HERE for a taxi, and don’t forget to tell ’em that Kitty sent ya!

Skin Fair 2019-Oh Lawd, it’s coming!

Skin Fair 2019-Oh Lawd, it’s coming!

skin-fair-2019-final

OK let’s get the elephant out of the room straight away-it’s practically Spring and I haven’t blogged in months. Reason? Well, I just started to go downhill a bit, due to my having Bipolar and also a chronically bad back. Honestly, my life is full of working and sleeping at the moment, it’s all I can do to keep going. If you know someone who struggles with depressive episodes you may be familiar with their propensity to ‘cut their nose off to spite their face’. By that, I mean that the hobby they enjoy suddenly becomes a trauma for them, in my case logging into Second Life became the complete polar opposite to what I wanted to do. It became a chore; and my last attempts at blogging an event were, to be frank pitiful (and because of this I can only wholeheartedly apologise to Pale Girl Productions and in my shame have deleted the blog posts from the blog because they were frankly shit.)  I can do better. I MUST do better. And I will. Especially now it’s March and you know what that means?

SKIN FAIR SKIN FAIR SKIN FAIR!!!! WOOOTTTTTT!

If there’s ONE event that gets the juices flowing then it’s Skin Fair. Closely followed by Hair Fair but despite the naming similarities the two are very different beasts.

Skin Fair is an event that you’re sure to have trouble getting in to, in a time when that just doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. I don’t think I’m the only person who has noticed how appetites have changed, and big-ticket events like The Arcade don’t have the pull that they used to. Honestly, I haven’t even bothered with The Arcade this month, and a few years ago I lived for that event. It makes me sad in a way, I lived for that event but I just feel like it’s lost its way now. Perhaps just once a year, perhaps at Christmas, with a Halloween pop-up, is the way to go forward? Times have changed, yet Skin Fair stays constant. Why is that? Well, your skin is what makes your avatar you in Second Life, so it’s an important part of your personality. You can say so many different things via your appearance, and with the emergence of new players in the mesh head game like Genus , there’s a lot to look forward to.  Can you remember when mesh heads first came out? Well, we’ve come a long way since then, baby!

If you want to see a preview of what Skin Fair has in store for us this round then you need to go here to see the Shopping Guide.  I also recommend joining the in-world group so that you can test demos while waiting to get in. What am I looking forward to?

There’s a lot on offer from tattoo makeup layers and embellishments to beards and eyeballs. There are going to be some new release heads from esteemed names like Catwa and LAQ; Catwa’s head, ‘Jade’, gives me serious Rihanna vibes. LAQ is a sponsor this round and I think a LOT of people are going to go mad for their ‘Ivy’ doll style head. It’s unique, unusual and fresh for Skin Fair and I think they’re going to have a great time this year, expect to see ‘Ivy’ all over the grid! Just look at her! Ivy

I’m also really liking the look of the ads for Deetalez and Session Skins.  They’re a new-to-me brand and their adverts look great; I just hope the skins look that good when worn…two days to wait folks, and then we’re in! Are you ready?

Note: LAQ is the sponsor of Skin Fair this year, so the member group LAQ updates are invited to a 24h early access! Join them tomorrow the 7th at 9AM!

Christmas Around The World: The Perfect Pohutukawa Cake

Christmas Around The World: The Perfect Pohutukawa Cake

holiday_002I confess, until this event, I had never heard of a Pohutukawa Cake before.  Turns out it’s a most wonderful treat that’s created at Christmas time in New Zealand. I’ve read that it’s a honey-soaked walnut cake (which already sounds absolutely delicious and far more appealing than our traditional heavy, fruit-laden British Christmas Cake) and is decorated with a traditional Pohutukawa flower decoration. Isn’t it splendid? It’s too late to make one of these in real life but I’m tempted to make one next year.  Until then, I shall satisfy my urges with this beautiful cake created by INNER DEMONS {ID} available at the Christmas Around the World event which runs until the 22nd.

Okay, who wants a slice?

It’s Christmas Around The World!

It’s Christmas Around The World!

The Belle

..and what could be a better way of celebrating than with a posh gown or even better, one that makes you look like you’re the actual fairy on top of the Christmas Tree, but in a good way?

Yeah, sounds mad I know but bear with me, because this gown from the INSOMNIA STORE is actually rather special indeed. I’m talking baubles, snowflakes, ribbon and pine needles. Pine needles are a bit scratchy but hey, beauty is pain right? To top it all off there’s a beautiful bodice finished with a ribbon; honestly, it doesn’t get better than this. It’s a statement piece for sure, and perfect for a Yuletide Ball.

You’ll find this glorious gown and a myriad of other wonderful wearables and home decor items at the ‘Christmas Around The World Event‘ from December 8th-December 22nd.  I’ll be featuring many more items from the event with you on these pages, so stay tuned, but seriously, this is a gown that will take some beating, right?
