Just Jez: Mr. Smarty Pants

Just Jez: Mr. Smarty Pants

Snapshot_001There’s a lot of (unnecessary) hipster-hate out there these days but if there’s one thing I personally congratulate that crowd for it’s the fact that they’ve (well, some of them) have brought the concept of dressing well back into the mainstream.  These days we don’t do a double take if we see a man sporting an exemplary beard and wearing a three piece suit, and that’s precisely how it should be if you ask me. It’s nice to dress well, something that is being remembered and definitely reflected in mainstream fashion, and I’m pleased to see it echoed in Second Life too. There are in fact a LOT of hipsters in-world; it seems to attract them and you’ll find them in their natural habitat, aka THE MENS DEPT, in droves. It’s a great place for (virtual) people watching but you’re always guaranteed to find something pretty special to wear too.  This month it’s the APHORISM ‘Cassady’ suit collection that pushes all Jez’s buttons, and it’s not hard to see why.  The Suit comes in 6 colours, Black, Charcoal, Grey, Pale Grey, Blue and Brown. The Jacket comes with 7 Tie, 5 Waistcoat & 4 Shirt options, trousers and jacket sold separately. It looks superb. The textures that have been chosen by designer Rucy Byron are perfect for a suit of this nature; it feels traditional for sure but it has an edge that means you can sport your man-bun, tattoos and septum piercings with this suit and look elegant and dapper. So in the end, what was my costume of choice?

So in the end, what was my costume of choice?

akeleton_002This one! No need to worry about my hair or skin or make-up or ANYTHING really, other than the awesomeness of this APHORISM skeleton! It’s part of the Skeleton Collection available at WAYWARD HALLOWEEN. It’s a gacha prize, from a machine featuring two rare avatars (male and female) 6 Skulls – Devil, Vampire, Los Muertos Cross, Los Muertos Flower, Male & Female and some skeleton props too. akeleton_004

It looks super-realistic and I’ve been wearing it at various parties across the grid and got so many compliments, so if you’re after a quick costume and have left it to the last minute, pop over to WAYWARD HALLOWEEN and play the Gacha! (Oh, and if you have a chicken dance in your inventory, hidden away somewhere as most of us do, use it when you’re wearing this avatar. Got one of the laughs of the night!) Here I am at DANCE ISLAND, dancing next to DeadMau5, as you do..(Party still going strong guys, come and join us!)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN READERS!

A Gentle Halloween..

A Gentle Halloween..

broomstick_002

Can there be such a thing? Well, for this post I wanted to create a softer, gentler look for Halloween.  Not everyone wants their costumes to be super-loud and in your face with props and sound effects and all sorts of nasty.  Some people like a subtler approach, and I found that incredibly easy to do courtesy of a few fabulous bits and bobs that I discovered at THE MESH BODY ADDICTS FAIR.

First of all I’m wearing a skin by a brand that I’ve never worn before, ‘Jennifer’ by LURE.  It’s not a bad skin at all actually: the body looks pretty good and the skin tone looks nice and constant across my MAITREYA body. The face is pretty too, although the brows weren’t to my preference at all.  Fortunately a NB option meant I could add some ZOUL CREATIONS eyebrows to make for a very lovely face indeed.  I’m not wearing any cosmetics other than the brow add-on and I think you’ll agree with me that as faces go she’s lovely.  With that in mind I think she’s a great choice for a basic everyday wear skin.

So an understated outfit for an understated skin is required, and some of the separates on sale at THE MESH BODY ADDICTS FAIR more than meet my requirements.  You can’t go wrong with simple yet quality pieces in SECOND LIFE, but the texturing has to be spot on. These ‘Seleste’ tops by VISION are super simple to wear yet very effective because their colours are nice and bright and the surface looks perfect.  An absolute wardrobe staple and incredibly cheap at the price too; a fatpack costs L$799 and contains 15 tops in a shade for every occasion. I wouldn’t normally do this but I would say if you have the Linden you might want to consider splashing out on the fatpack because you will get so much wear out of these tops! (A three-pack of tops costs L$199 btw, still great value but that fatpack is where it’s at!)

My top was easy enough to sort out, but what about the bottom? Trousers? Nah, I fancied a nice skirt and instead of raiding my virtual closet for a denim number, as is my usual choice, I decided to go for something super girly. This ABSOLUT VENDETTA Skater Skirt is just the ticket and totally works with the VISION top, it’s like they were made for each other! What witchcraft is this?!   In fact, I am not one at all for dotty prints but I absolutely adore the texture on this skirt; it’s charming and the colour perfectly complements my hair and hat, which are incidentally gifts available  from WASABI PILLS (hair) and LYRICAL & BABYSTEPS at TRUNK OR TREAT 2015.

To finish is my only purchase from FIFTY LINDEN FRIDAYS this week, and whenever LIVALLE is featured I’m there quick as a flash.  I absolutely adore LIVALLE footwear, it’s so beautifully made and packaged and to get two pairs of suitably spooky heels (one orange and one black) for just Fifty Lindens is a real treat indeed.

So there you have it; a nice gentle Halloween look for the more introverted amongst us.  What do you think?
