I’m Your Aphrodite…

I’m Your Aphrodite…

Lelutka has released three Goddess themed hairstyles today for summer, and they’re all rather special, which they should be if you’re going to name hairstyles after Goddesses. But don’t worry; I don’t think they’ll be angry and rain down fire and brimstone upon us, for Aphrodite, Athena and Demeter are beautiful styles evoking classical grace and splendour thus befitting their namesakes perfectly.

For this post I wanted to focus on the flowing locks of Aphrodite. This is a rigged mesh style that will move with your body, therefore it’s not resizable, but boy is it lovely. The hair tumbles in graceful waves down the back and is caught up at the sides, leaving more tousled locks to fall free over the shoulders. It perfectly evokes classical Grecian imagery and it would work not just as a high fashion style, which is obviously the market that it’s aimed at, but also for the role-play community too.

I’ve teamed it with one of the most glorious skins that I saw at the Skin Addiction showcase that’s in world at the moment. It’s a must attend event, courtesy of the Skin Addiction blog, featuring lots of delicious skins  to feast your eyes upon  and lots of names that I wasn’t familiar with, so I got TONS of demos to play with as well as some freebies too! (Join the Skin Addiction group to benefit) Incidentally, the layout of this event is fantastic. It’s not cluttered or fussy and the landscaping is absolutely amazing in the forest areas, I wanted to stay there all day exploring! (Dizzy Sparrow I salute you for your epic landscaping abilities, if I ever get my own land again in SL (something I dream about often) expect a call from me asking you to landscape it for me!))

But back to the skin. It’s a beauty! She’s called ‘Keiko’ and she’s from the ’Rosy Mood’ label, one I’d never heard of before but will be seriously checking out now! (See? Events like this do work!) Keiko features a choice of light or dark skin tone, as well as five make-ups too. There’s also teeth and cleavage options and they work perfectly; I’m totally delighted with it. And I think it works beautifully with this hair too to produce a combination fit for Mount Olympus itself.

To buy Lelutka hair you can visit the Marketplace or In-world store.

Rosy Mood has a blog, a mainstore and here’s the link to the Skin Showcase too!

Tuesday blog happy with VMC, Acide! and Tameless

Tuesday blog happy with VMC, Acide! and Tameless

So, back to blogging. After a sound verbal thrashing was delivered to the virtual cosmic demi-gods via the power of my monitor, Second Life let me back in to share some happy with you.

First up, we have some hair from a brand that’s totally new to me, called  ‘Tameless’. This is the ‘Elizabeth’ hair style which is a sort of short, messy bob held up on one side with a hair grip. The grip is colour change, and I like this style very much. I particularly relish the way that there are a few tendrils of hair framing the face and some limited movement when you walk. It’s a great, casual style and if you’re a fan of the bob, which I am, this is a must-have for your collection.  I took a flight to the store and had a wander round off the back of this style, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I spotted some really nice styles (including a new one called ‘Bonnie’, a bob, natch:) that are well worth a looksy. Go see:)

I’ve teamed the hair in a couple of shades with a few outfits from a brand that I’d never heard of until today; ‘VMC‘. The blogger package warranted a trip to the store, and I was astonished by the size of the place. Not only that, but there are tons of outfits to choose from.I have to say I was impressed by the mesh tops and frocks that I’m wearing in this post, I particularly like the patterns and designs that are available in store too. I recommend you check this place out, some designs are perhaps a little dated by current SL fashion standards  but the majority are more than acceptable. Also, most outfits in store are a mere L$10 each. TEN LINDENS!! Mesh outfits are a tad more expensive at L$25 (!) but that’s a steal isn’t it? There’s a vast range of clubwear, trousers, fitted frocks as well as shoes, shapes and even eyes in store too, so if you have a friend who has just joined Second Life and you’re feeling generous you could do them a favour and donate them a couple of hundred linden and kit them out just by visiting this one store!

Finally, the skin I’m wearing is by [Acide!]  Acide Innovia is a new skin maker to me but someone that I will surely keep an eye on in future because I love these skins that she has placed on sale at the ‘Culture Shock‘ event. In both these shots I’m wearing ‘Muriel’, and the body shading on both the pale and tan variants is excellent. I really love the eyebrow illustration and the colours that have been selected for eyeshadow. The skin has a delicate feel to it, and I really rate it. You can also find the ‘Ashley-Bleu’ skin there too; this is the skin I’m wearing on the headshot down the page. I wouldn’t normally wear a skin with bright blue lips but it actually works beautifully, and I think it would lend itself really well to certain urban or even fantasy looks, should you be so inclined:)(Incidentally, should you be so inclined there’s a special edition of ‘Muriel’ available at Culture shock in  Violet with 50% of proceeds going to ‘Medecins sans Frontieres’, a worthy cause if ever there was one)

A final note: the VMC outfits include jeans as worn in the snaps, which is pretty bodacious innit? The skull and crossbones necklace is available from the [Acide!] store at culture shock.

Babe in the woods…

Babe in the woods…

As we’re fast approaching Samhain you may well be thinking about attire for your ritual or event, or perhaps considering buying  an extra special gown to wear for roleplay or for an Autumnal celebration?

PIXEL DOLLS has stepped up to the mark with the release of the ‘Diane’ dress in a number of colourways, but heads up gals, there’s a FREEBIE version in festive Halloween shades of rich red and fiery orange!
It’s a stunner of a gown too, consisting or a strapless shift with a vine motif that sits on the arms, as well as an outer jacket and over-skirt that turn this into a more formal, substantial gown.

It’s an absolute feast of a frock, and a fabulous freebie, no doubt about it.

Because you’ve saved money on a dress you may want to consider purchasing a substantial necklace to wear with it, and if so I have the PERFECT suggestion…this wee beauty from SABLE ROSE. For a mere L$200 you can be the prod owner of this astonishingly beautiful Autumn necklace, which features various leaves and flowers in seasonal tones, mixed in with some co-ordinating beads and assorted other nicies. I don’t really need to describe to you how utterly fabulous this is; I’ll just let the picture speak for itself (Click to see a LARGE version of this image that helps you to truly appreciate the necklace..yes they are my boobies. Stop that.)

Isn’t it a sensation? (Oh, and if you visit the store to buy before the end of October, be sure to hit up the Midnight Mania board.  There’s a special Halloween edition of the necklace featuring skulls and purple lillies that you mustn’t miss! The MM board only needs fifty hits to lockdown, so make sure you take your friends!)

To finish this look off I opted for the LAQ skin in ‘Nellie’ (Shade is Nougat, number 10) and hair by the ever-amazing TRUTH. This is one of the weeks new releases called ‘Robyn’ in the Crow shade, a simple, straightforward style brought to life by a jagged, kick-flare fringe.

I know it’s a modern style, but the juxtaposition of modern hair against this classic gown actually works really well. Oh, and of course it doesn’t detract from this amazing necklace….

An amazing Autumn combination, don’t you agree?

Kitty’s adventures in ‘The Dressing Room’

Kitty’s adventures in ‘The Dressing Room’

If you’ve never frequented ‘The Dressing Room’ in Second Life then BOY are you in for a treat. There are two of them; the original, and another called ‘The Dressing Room Blue’ and you *must* visit both because they feature some glorious items from some of Second Life‘s most esteemed and original designers at rock bottom prices.

It gives you a fabulous opportunity to try a famous designer’s work that you may have always wanted to experience but were a little unsure about, without going way over budget.
Here’s a prime example; I’ve never worn a ‘Your Skin & Your Shape‘ skin before and more fool me for not trying. So, I’m now wearing one and you really will have to peel it off me because it’s a ruddy corker.
In fact, It has to be one of the most seductive and alluring skins I’ve worn in a very long time.
It’s called ‘Adriana Technicolor-TDR 9‘ and it comes with an astounding list of options,: cleavage, freckles and black hairbase all included.
I’m wearing it with one of my own shapes here, ‘Sophie’ (coming soon!) and I just think it is a total bobby-dazzler, as they say in these ‘ere parts.
What really makes this skin is the eyeshadow; It’s just so unspeakably beautiful and very technicolor indeed as the name suggests with shades that are all blended extremely well, meaning that it retains a softness in the eye area that some other skins struggle to achieve. The lips by comparison are understated with adequate shading and highlight that suggest a moistness and dewy quality, but truth be told I don’t think that these are as well done as the eyes. Sod that though because no one will really be taking any notice of them. This one is all about the peepers!
Any complaints? I have just one, and that is the shading under the bust doesn’t work so well; it seems a tad wishy-washy by comparison to the striking cleavage above. I can see the reasoning behind this; the artist is trying to create an illusion of shadow but it doesn’t quite work in my opinion. That said, no one can see an under-cleavage when you’re wearing a tee can they? In other words, don’t be put off. It’s a really minor criticism and this skin is a more than worthwhile addition to your collection. I am just LOVING it.
Oh I forgot to tell you how much didn’t I?
Ahem..it’s L$70. I KNOW!!!!! Amazing huh?

Ok, moving on to the hair that I am sporting and this is also a Dressing Room find, but this time it’s from the ‘Dressing Room Blue‘. It’s called Layne and it’s by Exile, so you just know that it’s going to be awesome don’t you? You get four colours in the pack (blonde, red, black and brown) for L$60!! It’s enough to have you hopping up and down with excitement..which I did, obviously:) It’s a messy layered style with a loosely gathered pony-tail. I love the loose tendrils that frame the face, and it’s the perfect compliment to the skin.
This look is completed by the addition of a fantastic Glow Studio necklace. It’s called ‘Baked Steel’ and has a fabulous sheen to it, a very simple structured piece but by golly it’s rather bloody fabulous. Again, it’s an utterly stupid bargain at just L$50. I do like Glow Studio products very much and it’s always worth a visit for funky jewellery that will complete an outfit;  fortunately TDR features a number of their items which means you can fill your virtual jewellery box for next to nowt.
It really is worth visiting both TDR locations just for the feeling of elation and smugness you get when you leave, safe in the knowledge that you’ve just got some of the best bargains on the grid and are going to look utterly astonishing.
Let’s recap; A YS & YS skin for L$70, hair for L$60 and a necklace for L$50. That’s L$180, under L$200 for the lot…unbelievable.
And to think, I haven’t even told you about the Tuli exclusive skin ( it’s yummy!)
Or the Baiastice frock (Pure couture elegance!)
Salivating yet? If you want to take a peek at what’s on offer check out the fabulous Dressing Room blog, then grab your purse and go shopping. Have a cracking time!
