Baby, It’s Cold Outside…

Baby, It’s Cold Outside…

More fashion goodness from the MELT installation, in the shape of the ever popular MIEL ‘Tary’ outfit which is available as special Polar edition from MELT, along with Polar edition ‘Far’ boots. I’ve completed the look with arm warmers from A&M because they are blinking fabulous, and I’m wearing CURIO ‘Black Pearl’ as my skin, and hair by TRUTH. I wish I had the facility to make composite shots though, so I could show you a close up of the amazing watch that is dangling from my lips. It’s Sienia Trevellion (again!) and it completely encapsulates the plight of the polar bears; time is running out and what better a representation than a timepiece? Not only that, it actually works, so you can set the time to SL time or closer to home.  There are icicles hanging from the body of the clock, and the centre is a bear in silhouette made from newspaper headlines about global warming. It is inspirational. .
Finally the pose is from Katey Coppola’s latest release, ‘Into The Black’. Just when I think that Katey cannot possibly get any better, she goes and creates this stunningly simple posing wall which enables you to take some really great, albeit claustrophobic, shots.
I’m in my happy place today..can you tell?

Melt features some of the most exciting creations I have seen in a VERY long time, from some of Second Life’s most esteemed and innovative creators. When you rez at the landing point you’ll be able to see, enjoy and purchase these items, and then move on to explore the barren artic wilderness and play ‘Spot The Polar Bear’.
It feels very bleak, frozen, hostile even, and looks amazing. Any photographs that you take you should ensure that you add to the photo pool on Flickr. I’ve been blessed to enjoy a wide variety of the items available here and I can honestly say that it’s really hard to pick stand out pieces because the quality is so high, BUT the dresses that Sienia Trevellion has produced, as well as the pocket watch, just took my breath away. I’m going to be featuring a lot of the finds in forthcoming postings, fear not but you HAVE to go and see the goodness for yourself.

MELT runs from the 6th until the 21st of March, on the aptly titled, ‘MIRROR’ sim.
Here’s a listing of some of the contributors. This list will make your mouth water so make sure you have PLENTY of lindens to spend!

Fifty Linden Fridays- Farewell PDA

Fifty Linden Fridays- Farewell PDA

Penny Dreadful Arcade, a stalwart of Fifty Linden Fridays, is closing this weekend. I’ve always enjoyed visiting the store due to the creative and playful shapes they sold; I didn’t always like the poses, some were too left of centre for even my tastes, but I admired the fact that they were creative above and beyond the pose-making norm in Second Life.

Izzy, Samara and Esme are intent on going out with a bang though; and if you’re a pose addict you’ll LOVE this amazing offer available until Sunday night:

-ALL poses are L$10 EACH.

– 100+ pack of Izzy’s poses for L$ 1000 – which includes some unreleased poses (+ Fifty Linden Friday poses) and a few couples poses.

-120 of Samara’s poses for L$ 1000

The Fifty Linden Friday selections for this week are two packs of shapes, one called ‘Goodbye’, and the other ‘Last Poses Of PDA’
(In this shot I’m using the pose called, “You should never have opened that door” from the ‘Goodbye’ collection)

I’d like to wish the team behind PDA the very best of luck for their future endeavours, and praise them for the amazing poses that they created, which I’m sure enabled many of us to take some superb photographs in world.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, the hair is from Lamb and the undies are by 5th and Oxford, both are FLF selections this week. (The jewellery is from Ganked, not a FLF item)

PS By the way my hand isn’t really that big, it’s the angle!

Bat for these lashes….

Bat for these lashes….

Now I’ve had a Second Life frustration for the past couple of years that has driven me often to utter despair, and that has been the correct attachment of  PRIM LASHES. For some unfathomable reason, despite my reading countless blog entries and watching numerous tutorials I have NEVER been satisfied with the results and have thrown my toys out of the pram on numerous occasions because f my sheer prim-lash ineptitude. I’ve also wasted a fair few bob on prim lashes to boot…and they aren’t cheap. Now, with the advent of 2.0 I can kind of breathe a sigh of relief, because many content creators are using the super cool new tattoo layer to create beautiful designs for the face, as well as make-ups and EYELASHES! Happy dance AHOY!!! Strawberry Singh posted a STUNNING portrait on her blog earlier and the lashes featured in her piece were quoted as coming from Stellar designs..so off I trotted…and there they were. I am CHUFFED to pieces, no more faffing about just wear them and job’s a carrot. You can buy individually, but I suggest splashing out L$325 and purchasing the four-pack, which features basic, everyday, flashy and emo varieties.  You can try a demo, I did, and that was it, I was hooked. Go and see for yourself, they may not be your thing, you may prefer your prim lashes(clever sod), but for those of us that struggled, the very least I can say is go and try these.

Oh, and an appeal to content creators on the grid…MORE lashes, MORE facial tattoos, MORE make up..in fact MORE EVERYTHING using this new layer cos I LOVE IT!
