Thinking outside the box…

..sometimes you just have to try something different. (Insert your own smutty joke here.)

I’m a bob kinda gal, as most of you are aware. I like my hair long on occasion, and short very infrequently..BUT most of the time I love my bobs ( Do not even get me started on the perfect bob that Truth put out and I managed to miss in October (It was called ‘Hadley’, if you got it you’re a git. Yes, I’m still hurting about missing that one!) However, when I saw ‘Lori’ there was something about the style that meant I had to try it.

And I’m super pleased with the result.  It lends itself really well to the boho vibe, yet if you were to purchase it in black would be without a doubt the most uber Goth-style on the grid at the moment. (There’s a hit of Madonna in her ‘Frozen’ guise about it..) It’s very much statement hair, and you can dress up/down as you like, but I suggest delicate prints or gently textured plain to go with this, rather than detract from the total awesome of the hair.

I’ve teamed it with an oversized tee from JANE (yes, Jane again…I know, but it fits so well and the ribbing effect is awesome) as well as some stockings that were a gift from the MIEL group aeons ago, and some boots (also from Miel) that weren’t. Last but not least throw in a CURIO skin ( From the ‘Pout’ collection; one of a number of skin collections that are reduced to L$1500 at ‘Truth’ district) and a couple of great poses from GAZE and you’re done. Awesomely simple:)

New Year, New Kitty?

New year, new start and all that, and I’ve hit the ground running in Second Life at least. In real life I am of course full of the snot and germs that prevail at this time of year, but at least in-world my nose isn’t red and my chops aren’t spotty…

In fact, dare I say it, I look rather good. The keen-eyed amongst you will have noticed a change, and that is because I’m trying out a new hair colour and skin combo. Yes, that’s right folks, I’ve gone blonde. Now, I don’t know how long this will last, but I have to say it looks rather swish don’t you think? In fact, I am very taken! The skin is from LAQ and is called ‘Vilda’ and it’s the nougat shade that I’m wearing, but what is totally brilliant about this skin is that blonde and brown brow options are included in the pack ( as well as a brown hairbase too) I love LAQ skins; they’re just so clean, crisp and nommylicious; always beautifully made-up and I guarantee compliments when I am sporting them. Plus you can purchase an outrageous cleavage enhancer in store too should you need one, but be warned; it really does make your decolletage into something other-wordly but if I’m feeling fun and flirty I add it into my outfit mix. The hair is new today from TRUTH. I’ve not been buying as much Truth hair recently as I usually do, and this is because I’d felt like I had my fill and needed to explore other options. But you just cannot beat the artistry behind his hairstyles, and I’ve found my way back into the fold via this glorious hat hairstyle called ‘Tatum’. To be fair recent weeks have seen my interest piqued by a number of ravishing styles, but with Christmas taking all my spare lindens tasty tresses were just not an option for me:( But I had to have this: It’s just so darn easy to wear and of course it features streak options and a colour change hat so is the perfect style to add to your casual wardrobe and see you through the rest of Winter. I must point out that this style actually looks as good from the back as it does from the front! I know that may sound utterly bonkers (hey this is me, remember?) but the length and layering as well as the movement just look totally swish. In fact, speaking of swish, there’s a bit of Cat Deeley in there somewhere, as well as a soupcon of Fearne Cotton, don’t you think?
Finally, the vest that I am wearing is part of today’s FIFTY LINDEN FRIDAY event ( The Rumor ALWAYS does a corking review of it, so add to your bookmarks and go here to take a peek)  and comes from FRI.DAY. It’s tres simple, but benefits from long, lean styling with a great texture and shading, plus the open buttons at the top make it look ever so slightly naughty. It’s perfect for just slobbing around your virtual abode. I’ve teamed mine with SURF COUTURE Yoga pants ( A MUST BUY!!) and my ever trusty MIEL ‘Nero’ flats while I lug boxes around my new home. Ahem, yes, you heard right. The year has changed and so has my dwelling. As much as I adored my previous residence it just wasn’t big enough for my needs, so I found something that was at a bargain price that I shall be featuring on these pages VERY soon; when I’ve finished decorating and stuffs, natch. Right, that’s enough chit-chat..pass me that box will you? Yes, that one, marked ‘Crockery’, don’t drop..
Oh dear. Time for a trip to SL HOME AND GARDENS methinks…

Baby, It’s Cold Outside…

More fashion goodness from the MELT installation, in the shape of the ever popular MIEL ‘Tary’ outfit which is available as special Polar edition from MELT, along with Polar edition ‘Far’ boots. I’ve completed the look with arm warmers from A&M because they are blinking fabulous, and I’m wearing CURIO ‘Black Pearl’ as my skin, and hair by TRUTH. I wish I had the facility to make composite shots though, so I could show you a close up of the amazing watch that is dangling from my lips. It’s Sienia Trevellion (again!) and it completely encapsulates the plight of the polar bears; time is running out and what better a representation than a timepiece? Not only that, it actually works, so you can set the time to SL time or closer to home.  There are icicles hanging from the body of the clock, and the centre is a bear in silhouette made from newspaper headlines about global warming. It is inspirational. .
Finally the pose is from Katey Coppola’s latest release, ‘Into The Black’. Just when I think that Katey cannot possibly get any better, she goes and creates this stunningly simple posing wall which enables you to take some really great, albeit claustrophobic, shots.
I’m in my happy place today..can you tell?

Lil’ Urchin Kitty

As if you didn’t already know, Valentine’s Day is just ten days away.

This means that the grid is festooned in an orgy of pink and red and all things heart-shaped, which if I was a complete cynic would be pretty annoying, but I enjoy it. It’s another opportunity for people to create themed nicies for the shopping addicted fashionista’s to swoon over, and this year is proving to be especially good fun so far.
However, I’m on a very limited budget after my mahoosive inventory loss and I’m reluctant to accrue so much valuable stuff again without a guarantee it won’t disappear off the face of the grid. BUT because there are no guarantees then, for now I’m being canny about my purchases; so I’m especially pleased to have discovered the Valentine’s Bazaar  that is currently taking place. Every item on sale is a mere FIFTY LINDENS OR LESS, and there are some utterly gorgeous things. I’m especially enamoured with the Pink Fuel skins that are available there, the one that I’m wearing in the shot is called ‘Oopsies’, and it’s somewhat appropriate as I had a corker of a nosebleed in real life last night! I’m also wearing a beautiful frock from A-Bomb called ‘Swing Time’, which has a 1940’s vibe to it, and I teamed it with some freebie socks from Miel ( the boots are from there too). I’m also sporting my ever faithful Panjen fingerless gloves, and the necklace is also from the bazaar, by Worn, it’s the ‘Tough Love Necklace’ . Topped off with hair by Magika, I thought the finished look had a touch of street urchin about it…
If you’d like to see some alternative shots of the skins that are available check out the ever fragrant Whisper Swansong’s post over on Fabfree for a great listing. (Grab a loo roll on the way over mind, they’re a bit fapworthy 😉
