As Pure As The Driven Snow

As Pure As The Driven Snow

..of which, we have plenty in the UK.  I swear I’m starting to get cabin fever! Anyhoo, following on from my last post raging about events is a look I cobbled together purely from shopping at two of them: FROU FROU and BLUSH. Now, you know my thoughts on FROU FROU so I won’t go over them again here.  BLUSH is a different beast, it follows a more conventional in-world format; there are no surprise layouts or quirks. When you first rez into the event you’re in a room which is pretty much filled with awesomeness. Seriously, this is where the majority of the quality is at, and I relished looking around at the lovely things that were on offer. I’m guessing this initial room cost a bit more to be included in than the second, which is a far more mixed bag; after you’ve exhausted all your shopping options in the main room and wander into the second you’ll still find great designers such as WASABI. EXILE, KIBITZ and ATOMIC to name check just a few, but if I’m being honest there are a few slightly ropey inclusions. But let me stress I’m NOT applying that to everything in the room, there are some excellent contributions to be found but it lacks the overall consistency of the first.  That said I certainly spent enough in both rooms, which contributed to my pulling this rather fabulous look together!Sweet Dreams

It’s all about layering and the purity of white, contrasted with a peekaboo bra and a cracking bolero jacket.  This is one of those occasions where I wish I had bought a ruddy fatpack rather than a few singles, but hey ho…  The jacket is really very pretty and detailed well; a textured base with fluted edging tape all the way around, and it’s tied with a bow.  Above that, I am wearing the glorious wee AVAWAY ‘Gwen’ corset collar with contrasting metal trim.  It comes with a very extensive hud enabling you to change the colour of the ribbons and the metal filigree frame.

My underwear is of course from FROU FROU, as I have simply adored that event. This peek a boo bra and panty set is from ABRASIVE. The ‘Lustful Lingerie’ set hugs the curves and really turns heads, which admittedly does tend to happen when your norks are out, even in Second Life. To complete the look I added some rather lovely AMD lace garters along with some favourite LUXURIA stockings. Last but not least, some vintage style glasses from MULLOY and the hairstyle that I really cannot get enough of at the moment, ‘Lady’ By TRUTH,  My poses are a cracking discovery that I made at BLUSH, they’re by POSEIDON and the set is called ‘Flirtation’ Who’da thunk it, huh?

Despite the obvious sauciness of this look I actually think it’s incredibly beautiful, hope you do too!

JUST JEZ – The Mens Dept Has It All!

JUST JEZ – The Mens Dept Has It All!

I don’t know what Jez would do without THE MENS DEPT; it’s just such a boon to Second Life men’s fashion. It constantly  features excellent designers to fall in love with* and offers fabulous on-trend items and home-wares.  This month is no exception either; a range of absolutely sensational gear that is very easy to wear and is guaranteed to turn your fella from Ebbe Linden stylin’ to street chic in less than the time it takes you to read this post!

My particular favourites this month include this fabulous style from INK HAIR, this gorgeous tee and tied shirt combo by HOWL and these epic pants from APPLE MAY DESIGNS

INK HAIR is definitely Jez’s brand of choice and it always looks fabulous on him. Their colour range is particularly good, with the brown shade suiting his over-all look perfectly.  I find that their hair-bases always wear well too; they don’t look as though someone has gone crazy with the boot-polish on his scalp.  This style, ‘Flow’, is really substantial and frames his face beautifully at the front. It blends into the hair-base well and doesn’t look ‘stuck-on’, as can often be the case with such styles.

The HOWL tee is a real find.  It’s mesh, and I did notice that to get a good fit on the sleeves he had to adjust his pecs ever-so-slightly, but no matter, such sacrifices must be made in the name of fashion.  If you’re willing to shell out some extra Lindens then you can boost your package (ooer missus!) with a HUD that features a number of tee patterns and shirt colours, so this piece will definitely see Jez through Summer 2014 in style.

I have to confess that I usually despair at baggy-crotch pants, but these ‘After Shorts’ were too good to pass on, although I really do find myself wanting to give Jez the most epic of wedgies every time that he passes me, hence his voice being a little squeaky at the moment! (I may have pulled a little too tightly last time! Oopsy!) The style of these is actually pretty nice, and they’re textured really well, something you would expect from APPLE MAY DESIGNS. Plus if he wasn’t wearing the tied-shirt, you’d be able to see that he’s wearing pants too. Rather than going commando, you get the briefest glimpse of boxer shorts in these bad boys. Yum!

To finish he put on his old fave EUDORA trainers, which were a group gift (although there are some spangly new space-age ones in THE MENS DEPT this month) and added some jewellery from a previous TMD round from MANDALA  (another brand with some epic new releases at the event)  (The bracelets are old group gifts from RONSEM).

I really love this look on Jez; he looks cool and stylish with a polished, urban edge, and it wasn’t a painful experience getting him to go shopping at THE MENS DEPT at all, in fact, truth be told, I think he enjoyed it!

And so will you, I guarantee it! Here’s your TAXI!

Jez wears:

  • Shape – Jez’s Own
  • Skin – ‘David’ by REDGRAVE
  • Tattoo – ‘Japanese Sleeves’ by AITUI
  • Eyes – ‘Ascension’ Eyes in Pewter by IKON
  • Hair – ‘Flow’ by INK
  • Necklace – ‘Kotowari (Full) by MANDALA
  • Shoes – ‘Blaze’ Hi-Tops by EUDORA 3D (Group gift)
  • Tee/Shirt – ‘Rui’ Summer Outfit by HOWL (I wonder if he has a moving castle?! Sorry..)
  • Shorts – ‘After’ Shorts in Dark Denim by APPLE MAY DESIGNS
  • Bracelets on both wrists were group gifts from RONSEM

*The majority of items on this list, with a few exceptions, were from designers Jez discovered because of THE MENS DEPT; which just shows how effective these kinds of events are. Whenever Jez goes shopping now, these are the designers he tends to check out first…just sayin’ ;P

25 for 25 Hunt STARTS TODAY!!

25 for 25 Hunt STARTS TODAY!!

Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho! A-Hunting we will go!!

Now who doesn’t like a hunt at Christmas? Hmm? (Well, I like a nice drink too but you get my point!)

The 25 FOR 25 Hunt launches today, 5th December, and features 25 stores selling hunt items priced at L$25.

It couldn’t be simpler really, and you’ll find items from established brands such as SOMNIA, APPLE MAY DESIGNS and CIRCA LIVING, mixed in with some less well known labels making this a brilliant way to familiarise yourself with content creators new and old!  The items range from fashion to furnishings, and at my time of writing I know of at least one ToddleeDoo item included that you won’t want to miss! There are some great bags, and some jewellery too. You can check out the full-range of items on the official blog.

In this shot I’m wearing two of the prizes: a fabulous jumper from SOMNIA  (it’s that template again! I think it’s taken over Second Life! Not that I mind, I do like it:) and Sanura Snowpaw has chosen to texture it in a great striped knit that’s really effective and well worth your L$25. (In fact you get FOUR jumpers in the package for your dosh, so it’s well worth a punt!)

I’ve paired it with a rather lovely, delicate necklace from  BLIENSEN + MAITAI.  It’s called ‘Songe Floral’, and I *think* it’s a lily.  It has pearls inside (alas, you can’t see on this picture but trust me, they’re there) and it hangs upon a waxed cord with clasp. You get both silver and gold versions for your L$25, and I’m very taken with it indeed.  Happy Hunting!

Shopping with Kitty – Apple May Designs

Shopping with Kitty – Apple May Designs

I often gauge items in SL by whether I’d wear them in RL or not. Daft I know but it’s part of the fun. These maxi dresses would definitely make my RL wearable list, they’re just beautiful. I love the pattern and colours; the design on the far right, ‘Autumn’ is especially beautiful. L$275 each or L$825 for a fat pack. Awesomeness:)
