Seven Days Of Denim Challenge: Day 2

Seven Days Of Denim Challenge: Day 2

Blueberry Denim

Day Two of my ‘Seven Days Of Denim’ challenge sees me sporting some items in of my favourite shades and creating a rather polished yet casual look.

Both my denim skirt and shirt were from BLUEBERRY, a store I haven’t visited for ages purely because I am small of brain and I forget things so easily.

This shirt is a new release; I saw it advertised on the ever amazing Second Life Inventory Facebook page and immediately knew I had to have it. I love the tuck shape and large, rolled-up cuffs,  and it will look great with so many items I own.  Even more fabulous is the fact that you get a shiny and non-shiny version of the shirt in each pack; the shiny version I think would look outstanding against a pair of black leather trousers. However, I’m not wearing black trousers, instead I opted for an incredibly (read: draughty!_ mini skirt also from the BLUEBERRY label. It’s a sort of stonewash grey but comes with belt and metal texture options, so I opted to change the shade of my belt to match my shirt, and mixed it up with rose gold buckles and rivets, which I complimented with my MONS rose-gold septum ring. Lots of mixy-matchy happy there peeps!

I kept my ‘Skye’ skin from NAR MATTARU on because I am crushing so hard on it right now and yes, I’m still wearing my MONS eyeliner (I can’t help it, I love it so!).  I did change my eyeshadow though; I’ve opted for ‘Marzipan’ (From the NM Skye range) and teamed it with just a gloss, rather than a lipstick.  My nails are long, but there’s no polish, simply one of the french manicure options that comes with the SLINK  hands.

Last but not least is my hair; I’ve kept it up and in bunches like yesterday but this time I’ve opted for messy buns with loose tendrils to frame my chops.  This is a fabulous style by TABLEAU VIVANT available at the DISTRICT FIVE event.

This look is really quite soft and gentle really, but the denim adds an urban touch. I hope you like it, and trust me, you really need one of these outstanding BLUEBERRY shirts!

Why not join me on my denim challenge? I’d be happy to have you along for the ride!

LOTD: Kitty Dares To Double Denim

LOTD: Kitty Dares To Double Denim

double denim_002I have no shame.

For a  ‘Fashionista’ (spits tea all over keyboard) you’ll find me wandering the grid looking more like a ruddy virtual bag lady rather than the epitome of elegance and a show-piece for Second Life design.  For example, while writing this post I was trolling the grid dressed head to foot in demos. Demo top, demo skirt, demo hair. No ears. I looked like a ruddy chuff to be frank, and I didn’t care a  jot..because I was DEMOING ALL THE THINGS!!

And there are a LOT OF THINGS out there demanding demo time..
I tripped over to KUSTOM9 earlier and went mad for all the denim. I have a love/hate relationship with denim in real life, I can never get a decent pair of jeans to fit due to the fact that I have a pot belly the size of a small continent, but in Second Life of course you don’t get those issues.  In fact, I felt so empowered by denim trip that I found myself breaking the ultimate fashion rule. You should never, EVER do double-denim. And me being the rebellious type, I went all out for triple. At the time of writing I still have all my teeth and haven’t felt the need to cut my hair into a mullett..so I think I’m safe:)

I snatched the MOTIAMIE tied denim shirt and coupled it with the BUENO denim top. These are both extremely well shaped and textured; I found that the denim top fitted extremely well under this shirt. Occasionally I find I get issues with multiple alphas and mesh items just not working that well when layered but these are spot on.  Once I was sporting them I decided to visit the creator main stores to check out their other items. I couldn’t find one sadly for BUENO, but MOTIAME is right up my street. It seems to be a temp store in a skybox but is definitely worth a look, I spotted some excellent items, like the sporty dress and a gorgeous striped sweater as well as a fabulous array of Kimono. MOTIAME is definitely added to my watch-list!

I also scooped up this fabulous hairstyle by MOON, a brand along with SPELLBOUND that I’ve really been digging this year. Of course, I had to have it because it’s a bob, and you all know how much I adore my bobs,  but I really liked the shape, with the loose tendrils to one side and the ear-tuck. Oh, and it’s also called ‘Mourning Sickness’, which I thought was a fantastic name.

double denim_001Last but not least, an honourable mention to these awesome ears from THE MENS DEPT, courtesy of CASA CHEERNO. They’re super easy to wear and the re-size and the colour match hud was practically spot-on when it came to matching the ears to my stunning skin, ‘SKYE’ by NAR MATTARU ( in tone 3).   It’s just absolutely delicious, especially when worn with the stunning ‘Gentle Breeze’ ombre lipstick. I’ve loved so many skin releases this year but the NAR MATTARU brand has been a real find for me personally and is always an absolute treat to wear.

To finish my look I added the latest necklace release from Yummy because it’s absolutely wonderful and appeals to my witchy sensibilities. It’s the most sublime collection of crystal pendants including a divining pendulum and they’re set on silver chains. The texture on the crystals is absolutely spot-on, but you’d never expect anything less from Polyester Partridge.

Last but not least, I added a septum ring and some favourite eyeliner from MONS to complete my look leaving me ready for the weekend in triple-denim style. What do you think?

NAR MATTARU LEAVES ME SPELLBOUND!

NAR MATTARU LEAVES ME SPELLBOUND!

Spellbound_005

SPELLBOUND is a brand I am really digging at the moment, full stop. For a start they have really nailed their branding; the whole witchy-vibe is obviously something that’s going to appeal to me, but there’s more to it than that, it’s presented so damn well. From the store itself, to the font used on the packaging, it’s utterly perfect. And I’ll tell you what else is perfect, the latest Spellbound hair release, ‘Toothbrush’.

Spellbound_006To be honest it strikes me that the creator, Kohana Xue,  MUST have a background in Witchcraft/Occultism because the symbols on the logo and the way they’re presented is done just a little too well. Either that or they’ve a serious Harry Potter addiction! There are witchy books, potion bottles galore, and even a cauldron on the counter. ( I wish there was a Second Life Witchcraft store like this!) There’s also oodles of cat print and teak- texture giving the place a retro feel. It looks so good and frankly it just makes me want to loiter in the store with intent!Nar Mattaru leaves me spellbound

But the hair, oh the lovely, lovely hair! Gorgeous colours and shades in styles that hint at diverse influences from Kawaii to rockabilly. They look brilliant when worn (I own a few styles from here now) but I have to be honest and say that I think ‘Toothbrush’ is my absolute favourite so far. Reason? Well just look at that epic plaited fringe, the shaggy bob styling and the loose bow. It’s ruddy gorgeous.  What I don’t understand though is why it’s called ‘Toothbrush’?  For a start, it in no way resembles a brush, nor would I want to stick it in my gob. That said, I’m not going to lose any sleep over the name, it could be called ‘Donkey Nadgers’ and I would still have bought it and worn it with pride. Anyway, I got myself the Brunettes pack from C88 for a steal at L$188, and it includes HUDS for both ribbon and hair. You can also wear the style without the bow if you’re kinky like that. Why you would want to is beyond me though, it’s just beyond perfection as is.

Incidentally I MUST tell you about the skin I am currently inhabiting. It’s from NAR MATTARU and is called ‘Maya’, and bugger me it’s nice. I’ve seriously fallen in love with NAR MATTARU, I really have.

Jade Glazner is one of those skin creators that just gets it. Her make-ups are divine, and the brows are just the most delicious kind of awesome. Since discovering her work this year I’ve become transfixed by it and wearing it is an absolute dream. One of the things that I really love is her make-ups, they’re inspired. She’s clearly not afraid to try new and unusual colour combos making her skins a great choice for a more edgy, punkish look. But don’t be put off by that, they’re so pretty too that they’ll lend themselves easily to any look you can possibly imagine.

MAYA is available NOW  at the OMGacha July round. I’m a bit late in posting about her, sorry about that, but you still have five days to go and throw your lindens at the machine to try and win all six makeups (plus the bare/no-makeup Rare version). She’s  available in six tones (I’m sporting Tone 3) with Slink (hand/feet) appliers included at just L$99 per play. You’ll also be able to find Physique appliers in Jade’s store too, something I swiftly invested in so that I could get the most out of Maya.

I think the NAR MATTARU ‘Maya’ skin and the SPELLBOUND ‘Toothbrush’ hair make for an absolutely fabulous combination, and I shall be wearing them with pride.

I think you might enjoy doing the same. Care to join me?

When it comes to writing about a new skin, putting the pressures of Skin Fair to one side, I like to really take my time and ‘live’ in the skin for a few days. It’s like anything new; you need time to become accustomed to the changes, to feel the benefits of the change and also to notice any quirks that emerge due to your new appearance.

Over the past few days I’ve been enjoying the latest Nar Mattaru release. Her name is Taryn and oh my word is she special. Guys, I adore her. She is an absolute beauty, with excellent detailing in all the places that matter. There are seven tones to choose from catering to every possible taste; I opted to try ‘Suntan’ and found it to be a rich, caramel shade that really suits my shape. As you can see, I look pretty hot, even if I do say so myself!

Image

The face is the main selling point for me with this skin. To be fair, I guess it’s the same for most skins I wear;  if I don’t immediately ‘click’ with the visage on a skin I won’t wear it. I know there’s a trend for unusual faces in-world, and fair-play to those that sport them, but my style has always been tailored towards what I guess you would describe as ‘classically beautiful’.  ‘Taryn’ is certainly that. Her face fit onto my shape perfectly and just evoked glamour from the get-go.

Seriously if you covet a beautiful look then ‘Taryn’ is not to be missed. I found her to be adaptable to many styles that I tested her with and wasn’t disappointed in any way, shape or form. Thing is, her make ups are utterly scrumptious. They’re really perfect in the choice of colours and the application; my particular favourite is ‘Canary’ which features the most delectable splash of colour and winged liner to compliment. There’s no end to the fun you can have with the make-ups either, there are 12 lipsticks and 7 eye make-ups to play with. I particularly enjoy wearing the lip gloss with the more avant-garde shades, such as the vibrant blue and punkish black lipstick…it really adds a slick of polish to a very modern look!

The other strength in this skin is her sculpted brows and the options for contouring and blush that are available too, in fact Jade hasn’t missed a trick when it comes to options for Taryn, with appliers for practically everything available separately; Slink, Azz, Wowmeh and Tango.

One thing I particularly love about this skin is that it photographs well. If you enjoy taking photographs of your avatar, the make-ups alone make Taryn a sound investment. She’s getting some excellent press too, and frankly I’m not surprised; there are a lot of bloggers out there who are just as enamoured by her as I am. Willow Zander has waxed lyrical about this skin’s many virtues, as has Elle Avanti, to name-check a few of the blogging celebrities out there currently enjoying this fabulous release.

nar mattaru_002Playing about withPicmonkey, as well as some of the make-up options, enabled me to create this rather vintage snap above.  There’s no denying the beauty of this skin really, is there?

NAR MATTARU was a new name to me until I went to Skin Fair earlier this year, and I had a hunch then that Jade Glazner was a designer to watch.  For me Taryn has completely confirmed my judgement, it’s an excellent release and deserves to be worn and enjoyed by many across the grid.  The fact that she is so versatile and has so much to offer makes her an absolute must have for any skin addict.

Taryn comes with:

  • FOUR cleavage options (Small, regular, large and push-up)
  • FOUR brow options (Blonde, brown, ginger and black)
  • Make-up pack (Lip-gloss layer plus Eight lipsticks and seven eye shadows)
  • Tintable moles, blush, contouring and freckles

You get a LOT for your L$1000 making her a very sound investment indeed, and you can purchase additional appliers at the main store as I mentioned before.  What’s not to love?

Click HERE for your taxi and if you see Jade, tell her Kitty sent ya!
