And then Kitty’s ovaries exploded..

Jez BodyAfter what has seemed like an eternity spent waiting (although very patiently so, obviously) the SLINK PHYSIQUE MALE has arrived.  HALLELUJAH!

Guys, he’s *exactly* what I was hoping for. Like the SLINK PHYSIQUE FEMALE this is an accomplished mesh body that photographs well and is incredibly easy to wear and style. You know what I really like about  though?  It’s NOT a body for aspirational bodybuilder types. ‘ManSLink’  is toned and far more Hugh Dancy in build than Arnold Schwarzeneggar, and that suits me just fine. Obviously when you wear a mesh body it’s your underlying shape which plays a huge role in how the mesh will look, but this is the body worn out of the box on Jez and he didn’t need to make any changes, which is incredibly satisfying.  ManSLink (the nickname for this body release; and it rather suits!) is built to fit the XS Slink hands and isn’t keen on too much additional body fat; fortunately for us Jez’s shape is lean and already has the requisite sliders turned down to 0.  It really does fit him incredibly well.  Something that is rather special about  ManSLink is that he already comes endowed with an appendage! HUZZAH! OK, it’s flaccid so you can’t use it for more amorous moments, but it, err, looks authentic and even if you don’t really use one it’s nice to know that it’s there.  Unfortunately for me at the time of writing Jez can’t get his underpants off so I can have a good look, you know, for scientific reasons, but that’s more to do with user knowledge and getting acquainted with the HUD functionality rather than an omission on SLINK’s part.
Just Jez: Jez testing out his new SLink Physique bodyPerhaps one of the biggest wins for ManSLink though is pricing. It’s the same as the female Physique, L$1250, and that is a BIG deal. THE SHOPS mesh body is L$5000, and although that is indeed a very attractive body and one that Jez uses it’s incredibly expensive (despite the inclusion of hands and feet). Of course, don’t forget that when you purchase THE SHOPS you’re also going to have to endure the whole shopping ‘experience’ as well, whereas with SLINK you just visit the store then click and buy, which is infinitely preferable and a lot less hassle too. Oh, and have I mentioned Omega appliers? Yup, ManSLink is Omega applier compatible (the female equivalent will be too in the next update) and this is a pretty big deal indeed. I’ve  seen reports of people using existing Slink tattoo appliers that were for female bodies yet work on ManSLink too; YRMV but it’s definitely worth testing what you have in your inventory to see if it works for you! What else is there to like? A good range of alpha options via the HUD, and plenty of clothing cuts that should hopefully enable you to wear your current mesh wardrobe, although a few finer ones around the neck  and tops of the arms for more precise tee-shirt fitting would be nice.  There are also items in store available to try too, Jez picked up a pair of the stovepipe jeans in ‘Indigo’ and they look bloody brilliant on him, so he’s very pleased.

Now ‘Manslink’ is out hopefully there will be a rush of content creators making appliers for skins. You can of course use the included tinting HUD to match, but appliers are exact and make lives so much easier, especially when you have no patience, like Jez.

All in all we’re both delighted with this release; already this is Jez’s favourite mesh body and he’s really enjoying wearing it (Although I really need him to figure out how to get his kecks off!!)   The waiting has definitely been worth it and the end result is a really rather gorgeous mesh body that any male avatar should be proud to wear.
Congratulations to Siddean Munro on another epic SLink release!
LOTD: Wanna buy some Lemonade?

LOTD: Wanna buy some Lemonade?

Is July turning into events month or what? We’ve got the IDK event and THE EPIPHANY (a new Gacha-type event) both starting tomorrow and don’t even get me started on WIZARDING FAIR, WAYWARD CARNIVAL or PROJECT LIMITED, to name-check just a small selection of events in-world right now.  But fear not, dear readers, the list of events is endless and somewhat overwhelming, but I’ll only complain when I can’t get into them!

I just wanted to throw a very quick LOTD post at the blog because as regular visitors can tell, there are changes afoot.  First of all I’ve changed the page layout to a much more modern design. It also means I can feature more content on the front page so I think it more accurately reflects the amount of posts (and work *cough*) I put into Kittywitchin. I haven’t quite finished my blog tidy up just yet, but when I have you’ll be the first to know!

Anyway, on to my look for today something very plain and simple but effective nonetheless; no necklaces, rings or jewellery to speak of other than the lip rings in my PXL SWEET LIPS. (Which I adore so much, I really, really do. If you’re reading this Hart here’s a Kitty-customer request; please make some more with a bit of a smile will you? I love mine but I want to smile in my pictures more!)

Moving on from my visage and I’ve thrown on a tee-shirt from the unwashed pile in the deepest, darkest corner of my inventory that I had forgotten all about! I hadn’t unpacked it, I know right?! This is unheard of for me. I adore PIXICAT tops (Areve creates just the best tops, she really does) and my not having opened this particular one meant that when I purchased this something big must have been happening to prevent me opening the package. I mean something immense, seriously, like an asteroid hitting the planet, or a sink-hole swallowing me up.  Or, more likely is that I bought it and forgot but still, you get the point I’m sure!

I’ve teamed the top with an old favourite PSYCHO BYTS skirt, although it’s so teeny-tiny it would be the kind of thing that your Mum would call a belt and say you weren’t to leave the house in.  Enough jibber-jabber then, here’s my LOTD!

Front and centre is one of the HAIR FAIR 2015 new releases from LITTLE BONES. I’m wearing so much hair by this brand at the moment andas I keep saying it’s a real surprise to me because I really don’t go wild for the longer, multi-coloured styles, but this brand just has ‘something’ that gets me right in the virtual feels.  I don’t know what it is, but it works. Each style I’ve developed deep and meaningful feelings for from LITTLE BONES has been an absolute winner, and ‘Lemonade’ is no exception.

For a start, it’s called ‘Lemonade’, and for another, well, see for yourself…..

kitty_004

It’s a fizzy and sparkling (see what I did there?) over-the-shoulder ponytail but what sets it apart from the crowd are the little wisps and tendrils that frame the face.  There’s a little tiny bit of hair that falls from the parting onto the forehead and it absolutely slayed me; in fact, I probably bought the style because of that lock alone! But just look, isn’t it something? This is the dip-dyes hud and features some outstanding colour variations to enjoy. I’m somewhat in love with this hair, can you tell?

Last but not least, the tattoo that I’m wearing.  It’s called ‘Insidious’ and is by WHITE WIDOW, who I only found out about last week and have been sporting her  stunning ‘Tombstone’ tattoo from ANYBODY at every opportunity I can get (as has Jez, he’s currently wearing the male version).   Normally I wouldn’t have bought new ink so soon but I spotted this one at the WIZARDING FAIR and had to have it because of the owls in the design. It’s full of owls guys, ALL THE OWLS!

Gearing up for SLink Physique..

Gearing up for SLink Physique..

Get ready for an uber grid meltdown of gargantuan proportions on Wednesday peeps. In fact,  I think Plurk and the entire blogosphere will explode too, and there’s a very exciting reason behind it.

On Wednesday we finally get to see the long-awaited SLINK mesh body, and quite frankly I’m REALLY buzzing about the prospect!

My Second Life, and I’m sure this applies to many others, has become infinitely better as a result of the amazing mesh hands and feet created by Siddean Munro. If you’ve been reading this blog for a long time you’ll know I’ve always had issues with my wrists in Second Life; I’ve always hated them and they’ve been a particular bug-bear of mine.  They look so unpleasant in photographs, but the introduction of the Slink hands has made all the difference. No more do I despair at ugly, angry wrist bones jutting out at unfortunate angles when I’m posing for shots for the blog.  The hands in fact are  really beautiful wee things and have created a cottage industry for enthusiastic manicure and pedicure creators across the grid. Not only that, but the detailing on them, and the positioning of the fingers upon the  hands has always really struck me as incredibly well thought out; whatever pose you choose they add a realism to your look that you just don’t get from the regular avatar.

Of course, the fact that skin makers could release appliers for the hands and feet made them even more essential purchases, and  consequently I think I have appliers now for the majority of the skins in my inventory.  Depending on where you shop appliers can cost a small fortune, but they are so worth it. Wearing your exact skin tone across your entire frame courtesy of those magical appliers is such a simple, yet essential pleasure.  In recent months we’ve seen tattoo layers become available for hands and feet too, again enhancing our individual looks even further.  In fact, when you stand back and think about it the revenue generated by these add-ons must be outrageous!  It’s made of win for everyone concerned;  for SLink for providing the technology, in the first place, and for the  and the skin makers, manicurists and pedicurists  who have been canny enough to include appliers in their range.  And don’t forget the shoe-makers and the jewellery creators and..and…GAH! The whole industry that has sprung up around these virtual appendages is absolutely immense,  I don’t begrudge any of them single Linden either.  The work that must have gone on behind the scenes to make all this achievable must have been terrific. And  let’s not forget that there are now  dedicated shopping areas where you can purchase every kind of add-on that your heart desires too.

Seems to me so far it’s all been a roaring success, and when Wednesday comes I can see no reason at all for Siddean not to have applied her same high standards of creativity to the mesh body, or should that be bodies (ooh, the very thought!)  that she’ll be releasing.  Let’s face it her work has always been bob-on, and this is why I am so eager to see what she has been busily engaged upon for the past few months.  I’m sure if you’re reading this then you are too.  So what benefit will a mesh body bring?

Truth be told, and don’t laugh, I don’t really know! As it stands I love the shape that I wear,  so why will I want to change to anything else? I guess it’s curiosity that’s got the better of this Kitty.  I want to see the way that the body blends in to the existing Slink Add-ons. I’m interested in the bewbs too, isn’t everyone? One of the reasons that I haven’t worn my Lola’s so much recently is because I just can’t size them to the scale that I want. I don’t necessarily want a huge, heaving bosom in Second Life, but I do want definition and shape beyond that which is already built in to the shape of the avatar.  I’m hopeful that we’ll see some of that.

Speaking of shape, I’m keen to see if curves will be catered for.  I’m hopeful that they will, in fact they have to be a selling point.  I  want to see beautiful, shapely bums and hearty, wholesome thighs.  I want to see clothes fit even better too and I admit I have no clue at all how the existing mesh marvels that I have in my wardrobe will fit, but I’m confident that this will be something that has been addressed.  Also, how will they be sold? Will we get torsos to which you add whichever feet and hand style that you like, or will there be all-in-one versions too? There are huge benefits to both.

Most importantly though we need the skin makers to get behind this release and create appliers that will work across the entire body.  Think of the possibilities for tattoos and decoration and relish the prospect of seeing some truly innovative and stylish avatars on the grid in the coming months.

Wednesday can’t come soon enough for me, and I’m sure that Siddean won’t let us down.  As soon as I get my hands on anything resembling one of her releases, I’ll let you know what I think! GAH, I can’t wait!

Kitty’s Getting Ready For Shoetopia-ARE YOU?

Kitty’s Getting Ready For Shoetopia-ARE YOU?

Snapshot_013

You know, I was never really a shoe-girl.

In real life you’ll find me trudging around in a pair of Crocs (yes, I know I’ve committed a supposed fashion-crime by wearing them, let alone loving them, but I do so there!) or my battered red Converse.  I have some fabulous  Catwoman Converse, too, and some Hello Kitty Vans.  Oh, and I have a pair of flat pumps in a burgundy leopard-print for work/going out, and a nice pair of clumpy faux-fur boots that I adore. But that’s it;  hardly a collection, let alone a fashion statement!

To be honest in real-life I’ve never understood how women could go all ‘Hello Lover’ at a pair of heels so cripplingly high that they would give you a nose bleed and bunions as soon as you dared to put your toe into them.   As if that wasn’t enough, the price of the ruddy things is completely beyond me. I don’t care if Manolo Blahnik himself made them, if you can’t guarantee that by wearing those shoes I’ll win an arse-kicking contest with a porcupine then I am just not interested.  In my eyes if you see nothing wrong with spending the equivalent of a mortgage repayment on a pair of heels then there’s something very wrong with you.

To begin with in Second Life I wasn’t much of a shoe fetishist. For a long time my go-to heels for my posher virtual outfits were an old pair (well I guess you’d call them vintage now) of TESLA heels. They were a gift many years ago from the ever-amazing Codebastard Redgrave, and I still wear them.  Tesla Miles made brilliant shoes; I do miss that brand!

But this year I’ve started to get wise to the wicked ways of the (virtual) shoe.

It’s the GOS BOUTIQUE shoes that started my transformation from footwear luddite to convert; Gospel Voom’s  fantastic brand of heels and boots that are nothing short of pornographic.  I swear to god, the Angelina peep-toe heels in ‘Black Python’ are the virtual equivalent of making  mad, passionate love to Ms. Jolie herself. They are ASTONISHING.

ILO’s workboot collection for THE ARCADE spoke to me in a way no other boots ever  have in-world, and I became obsessed by them.  As a result, I’ve barely taken them off, and most of the time you’ll find me trudging around the grid in a pair of my gacha-won treasures. They were created and textured so perfectly  how could I not love them? Oh, and don’t even get me started on Siddean Munro and her amazing SLink feet and footwear..GAHHH!

As you can see, my conversion once it started came on suddenly , and I would now consider myself well on the way to becoming a Second Life Shoe Addict.

And there isn’t a cure, in fact, my addiction is going to fully reveal itself come November 15th (Friday folks, FRIDAY!!) when SHOETOPIA 2013 opens to the public.

Now, I did a VERY SILLY thing by not entering the photo contest to be an official blogger (Damn you real life!!!)but no matter because some of the very best bloggers that Second Life have to offer will be covering the event for you. And what an event it promises to be!   Readers, there are OVER FIFTY (gulp) footwear designers contributing to the show.

There are Gachas too (because we’re all addicted to those, right?) and all of this will take place across two sims that have a ‘Shoe Heaven’ theme. (Check out the fabulous photo on Moka’s Way-isn’t it breathtaking?!)

The event will last from November 15- November 30 2013, a total of 14 days, which is good because I imagine it will packed solid when it opens and will prove very difficult to get into.

But the very best thing, apart from all those beautiful, fabulous shoes, is that the event supports the charity SOLES 4 SOULS.  The fact that it’s supporting such an amazing charity is reason enough to go and splurge all your Lindens, but  Soles4Souls have committed at least 200,000 new pairs of shoes to the rescue, recovery, and rebuilding lives effort in the Philippines following this weekend’s dreadful typhoon disaster.

You can see a few of the treats in store by visiting the official Flickr group, and of course I’ll be showing you my lovely purchases once I’ve managed to get in!

This is one event that you really won’t want to miss; I’m considering camping on the sim border for the opening.  Sell a virtual kidney, pawn all your virtual jewellery!

Fabulous shoes + Money for charity = WIN!!!
