Last day of the Albero Gatcha festival y’all, and I’ve just been and stocked up on these wonderful ‘Modern Shelving’ units by Croire. At only L$20 a pop it’s well worth your Lindens, and Croire makes such wonderfully quirky stuff that you’d be foolish NOT to indulge in these:) I get a bit funny around gatchas..I end up spending wayyy too much on the ruddy things but these are corkers. The poses are pretty darn good too..off you trot!

Witchy Wednesday – Hatpins presents a perfect circlet…
I’m surely not the only one to have noticed that the nights are starting to draw in again and there’s a wee chill in the air indicating the forthcoming arrival of Autumn. As a Pagan my favourite festivals are those that take place around the harvest time. I think this is mainly because I was born in September, so of course I’m a Virgo, with my birth sign often represented by Demeter bearing a sheaf of corn in her arms. It’s a wonderful time of year, and one that I’ve seen beautifully celebrated in Second Life in the past.
But of course at a ceremony (as well as the intent) the outfit is all, and what would a Priestess be without a circlet that befits the season? Well, as you can see I’ve found a belter, and it’s part of the 69 Linden Wednesday offering from Hatpins. It’s called ‘Branwen’, and comes in two variations: the Autumnal version that I’m sporting here and an altogether more Spring-like number in fresh blues, mauves and pinks. It’s a gorgeous piece of work; if you look closely there are lillies, roses and leaves tinted to the shades of the season and it’s a rare bargain indeed.
This was my first visist to Hatpins; not being especially into hats I’ve never had much reason to troll over there and have a gander, but it’s actually awash with awesome headwear and stylish hats, caps and bonnets and is well worth a bijou lookette if that’s your kind of thing. Failing that, just fly over and get this for your Mabon celebrations (Yes, I know we’re over a month away but you don’t want to miss it!) To complete the look I’m wearing a freshly released Truth hairstyle, ‘Trinity‘, and it’s a wholesome, streak-free beauty that perfectly frames the face and looks very appropriate when worn with Witchy attire, and it works beautifully with the circlet…nom!
Taking the weight off…
Mondays are such decidely ‘meh’ days don’t you think? I don’t know anyone who looks forward to them, and to be fair if I ever met someone who did I’d eye them with a serious amount of suspicion, for they would evidently be buffoons of the highest order. So, because it’s a ‘meh’ day I wanted something simple and straightforward to throw on whilst I updated my bunnies..oh yes, the joy of bunny updating. Bring it on…
To complete the look I’m wearing my much beloved Tegryn summer scarf from Theosophy. I’m obsessed with these scarves after I won one in a gatcha, and Trace, the designer, must be blinking fed up of me pestering about them continually..BUT..joy of joys the gatcha is now situated in the Theosophy main store and for L$35 a pop you can get yourself one too. They are transfer if you get a few of the same, but they are ruddy fabulous and I can’t stop wearing them at the moment, they go with everything, so the gatcha is well worth a pop.
Darkley Aeon Shares Her Flaws…
Darkley Aeon is holding an exhibition of her Second Life artworks in Tasogare at the moment and it really is a must see.
I asked Darkley about her work. Why did she call the exhibition flawed for example? “I wanted 1 word, and it summed it up – everyone can be stunning in SL, its easy to be beautiful, I have a conventionally pretty shape, but I like to make it a bit darker through clothes, bad habits, scars” It’s true that Darkley is a stunning avatar, but it’s clear that her take on the Second Life fashion canvas is quite different from that of her peers. Her work shows great perspective and depth, and pieces such as ‘Gets In Your Ryes’ have a cinematic quality to them.
It must be difficult for an artist to select their favourite piece from their own works, but Darkley confirmed that she did indeed have one, the slightly poignant ‘We Are All Special Cases’ “It’s the oldest one here”, she said, “But I still love it. It’s a Camus quote, and I did the picture for it”
Not only is the work here accessible to view it’s easy to own too: the artist is charging a mere L$400 for a copy of each work making this exhibition an essential for all who want to hang quality artworks in their virtual homes.
‘Flawed’ runs from 6th August until 6th September.
