Kitty’s adventures in ‘The Dressing Room’

Kitty’s adventures in ‘The Dressing Room’

If you’ve never frequented ‘The Dressing Room’ in Second Life then BOY are you in for a treat. There are two of them; the original, and another called ‘The Dressing Room Blue’ and you *must* visit both because they feature some glorious items from some of Second Life‘s most esteemed and original designers at rock bottom prices.

It gives you a fabulous opportunity to try a famous designer’s work that you may have always wanted to experience but were a little unsure about, without going way over budget.
Here’s a prime example; I’ve never worn a ‘Your Skin & Your Shape‘ skin before and more fool me for not trying. So, I’m now wearing one and you really will have to peel it off me because it’s a ruddy corker.
In fact, It has to be one of the most seductive and alluring skins I’ve worn in a very long time.
It’s called ‘Adriana Technicolor-TDR 9‘ and it comes with an astounding list of options,: cleavage, freckles and black hairbase all included.
I’m wearing it with one of my own shapes here, ‘Sophie’ (coming soon!) and I just think it is a total bobby-dazzler, as they say in these ‘ere parts.
What really makes this skin is the eyeshadow; It’s just so unspeakably beautiful and very technicolor indeed as the name suggests with shades that are all blended extremely well, meaning that it retains a softness in the eye area that some other skins struggle to achieve. The lips by comparison are understated with adequate shading and highlight that suggest a moistness and dewy quality, but truth be told I don’t think that these are as well done as the eyes. Sod that though because no one will really be taking any notice of them. This one is all about the peepers!
Any complaints? I have just one, and that is the shading under the bust doesn’t work so well; it seems a tad wishy-washy by comparison to the striking cleavage above. I can see the reasoning behind this; the artist is trying to create an illusion of shadow but it doesn’t quite work in my opinion. That said, no one can see an under-cleavage when you’re wearing a tee can they? In other words, don’t be put off. It’s a really minor criticism and this skin is a more than worthwhile addition to your collection. I am just LOVING it.
Oh I forgot to tell you how much didn’t I?
Ahem..it’s L$70. I KNOW!!!!! Amazing huh?

Ok, moving on to the hair that I am sporting and this is also a Dressing Room find, but this time it’s from the ‘Dressing Room Blue‘. It’s called Layne and it’s by Exile, so you just know that it’s going to be awesome don’t you? You get four colours in the pack (blonde, red, black and brown) for L$60!! It’s enough to have you hopping up and down with excitement..which I did, obviously:) It’s a messy layered style with a loosely gathered pony-tail. I love the loose tendrils that frame the face, and it’s the perfect compliment to the skin.
This look is completed by the addition of a fantastic Glow Studio necklace. It’s called ‘Baked Steel’ and has a fabulous sheen to it, a very simple structured piece but by golly it’s rather bloody fabulous. Again, it’s an utterly stupid bargain at just L$50. I do like Glow Studio products very much and it’s always worth a visit for funky jewellery that will complete an outfit;  fortunately TDR features a number of their items which means you can fill your virtual jewellery box for next to nowt.
It really is worth visiting both TDR locations just for the feeling of elation and smugness you get when you leave, safe in the knowledge that you’ve just got some of the best bargains on the grid and are going to look utterly astonishing.
Let’s recap; A YS & YS skin for L$70, hair for L$60 and a necklace for L$50. That’s L$180, under L$200 for the lot…unbelievable.
And to think, I haven’t even told you about the Tuli exclusive skin ( it’s yummy!)
Or the Baiastice frock (Pure couture elegance!)
Salivating yet? If you want to take a peek at what’s on offer check out the fabulous Dressing Room blog, then grab your purse and go shopping. Have a cracking time!

Bikinilicious!

Bikinilicious!

Haven’t posted much since Friday, and for that I apologise, but I’ve been catering to my burgeoning bunny collective!
I’ve gone from two bunnies to TEN, yes TEN, of which I will post more later and it’s terrific fun,  but I had to share this look with you so bad that I’ve left my bunny exploits behind for now. As you can see  I’m wearing a splendiferous bikini from PIG and I absolutely adore it. There’s no way you could wear this in real life because the tan lines would be just horrific, but I really rate the detail and fit of this beautiful ‘Hortensia’ bikini.  I’m wearing the Aubergine shade, which looks especially lovely against the amber stones in this wonderful ‘La Brie’ jewellery set from CAD & TART.  (If you’re a group member you also get a pair of matching sandals)
I often wear bangles to cover the nasty wrist joints that always cause a problem for me in Second Life  photographs and I am forever wearing my ‘Mineral’ bangle set, so I’m really pleased to have some new additions to my collection, and they are of course beautifully textured and designed.
Finally I also want to mention my eyeshadow; the purple shade that I am wearing is part of a ten-pack from GLAMORIZE called ‘Glitzy’, and it costs just TEN LINDENS!!  It’s an absolute bloody bargain, a bunch of glittery eye colours that work on the new tattoo layer in viewer 2.0.  These are tons of fun especially because they add new colour to existing skins and make plain skins look uber-stunning.  The skin incidentally was a group freebie from TULI only available at Icon, with lips that have been coloured so beautifully that they look dewy and oh so moist and nommy.  The eyes were quite plain so this ‘Glitzy’ make up in purple has really vamped up the look.
Oh, and yes I am still wearing the TRUTH hair that I squeed about in my previous post.  I really have no idea how he’s going to better it, but seeing as he usually releases all his newness on a Thursday these days we won’t have long to wait to find out. I’ll be sure to share with you of course!
NEW Truth Hair-‘Kalista’ is Bloody stunning.

NEW Truth Hair-‘Kalista’ is Bloody stunning.

Remember the original Ferrero Rocher advert, where they’re at the Ambassador’s party? The guy is uber-cool and has, ahem, ‘exquisite taste’, and nods towards his butler to bring in a silver tray teaming with chocolates. The butler carries the pile of golden nommables around and each guest selects one with mucho gusto, causing one of them to say to the Ambassador, ” Monsieur, With these Rocher you are really spoiling us!” ( You can watch it here, it’s a classic!)

Well, that’s how I feel about Truth hair, because at the moment I definitely feel like Mr Hawks is spoiling us and then some. He’s released another FOUR styles this week  and I’m wobbling with excitement! (Alas I could only splurge on one due to the blinking car failing her MOT this morning..GAHHH) This one is ‘Kalista’ and it is a thing of beauty.

Regular readers will know about my Truth hair obsession ( there is NO cure)  and my tendency to refer to his new streak-enhanced styles as ‘Bacon Hair’, because they’re streaky and nommable.

(I know, in my mind you’re thinking “Dear Lord, what a wit! Mark Twain and Charles Dickens must be shaking in their tombs!” when actually you’re thinking “Lame..” Just humour me ok? You should be used to it by now.. ) Well, this takes meaty hairstyles up a notch. This isn’t JUST Bacon Hair my friends, this is the finest bacon, probably sourced from golden happy pigs and oak smoked by pixies or some other woodland Fae folk because we’ve moved on from not one but TWO sets of streaks that change colour !!! YAYYAYAYYAYAYAYAYAY!! GET IN!

As you can see it looks bloody fantastic. You can really co-ordinate your look just that little bit more and beeven more amazing than usual with just the click of a coupl of buttons on a menu..no fuss, no hassle and it makes Ferrero Rocher look like dust covered-weasel pissballs, if there is such a phenomenom. ( A delicacy in some quarters, so I hear)

So, go and check out ‘Kalista’ on Truth’s blog, and follow the links to that style and Rylan, Rylan 2 and Layla (epic name, epic bunches!) and click on each to buy them at XStreet, thus avoiding the store-scrummage.  Personally I feel it is high time he was knighted for services to hair.

Sir Truth, we are not worthy to lick your boots and I for one salute you! ( MOAR BACON HAIRRR PLEASE!!!!)

Kitty gets her holiday on!

Kitty gets her holiday on!

The chances of me going on my holidays in real life are slim to none following my RL op, so it’s nice to know that in at least one of my nine lives I can get away on vacation. As the sun blazes somewhat fiercely outside in real life, I can get my bikini on and enjoy the surf in my Second Life without fear of sun burn, mosquito bites, harassment from beach vendors or embarrassing holiday snaps.

Kind of fabulous really, don’t you think?

My adventure started this morning, when I logged in-world and received this rather lovely sun frock from PINK OUTFITTERS. It’s ideal for a virtual summer and features a lovely, bubbly skirt shape complimented by a snazzy white prim belt. How could I not embrace the holiday mood in such a pretty frock? After some minor tweaking of the belt and some serious rummaging in my inventory I was all set to go, adding my aptly titled TRES BLAH ‘Neato’ bag, ‘Arizona’ jewellery from GANKED and TRUTH ‘Iris’ hair to complete the look.

Look out sunshine, here comes Kitty!

But where to go? I don’t really know of any holiday resorts in-world, so how would I find a decent one? Lots of beaches are actually pervtastic nudie affairs and that was the last thing I need at the moment! Freenis on a Tuesday morning? I think not!Fortunately Cajsa Lilliehook , esteemed SL photographer and blogger for ‘It’s Only Fashion’ along with Gidge Uriza, came to my rescue. She’d recently kindly distributed a listing of locations she uses for her fashion photography, and the list covered a vast array of locations.

Sure enough, a few looked promising, so I took a leap of faith and I plumped for The HEART REEF RESORT

Trust Cajsa to have found such a stunning location! This is a true holiday paradise, primarily aimed at couples , but with it’s Mediterranean hues and stunning, rocky backdrop replete with romantic crashing waves it’s perfect for taking holiday snaps that will be the envy of your Second Life peers. But don’t stop at snaps, oh no..there’s LOTS to see and do here, as I soon discovered! First up when you rez on the beach you can collect FREE scuba gear, which really looks and sounds the part and before I knew it I was soon scuba diving courtesy of the Scuba Scooter Tour! One of the things I LOVE about Second Life is that you can ‘sort of’ experience things that you wouldn’t do in real life..of course it’s just fantasy but it’s fabulous fun all the same. I can tell you that scuba diving has never been on my ‘Do Want!’ list. I’m a firm believer in neither going up or under and staying firmly fixed to the ground. Call me a fuddy duddy, call me a wimp, I care not, I just know that it’s not for me, but here in-world I can virtually experience this kind of thing and have a ton of fun just the same! Seriously, it’s AGES since I had this much fun in Second Life, and I LOVE the fact that the owners of this sim have put so much effort in to make it look so beautiful, authentic, romantic and one of the best beach resorts upon the grid! Incidentally, when you embark upon the Scuba tour it takes you underwater into a mermaid’s retreat, and if you’re lucky you’ll see a mermaid or two. I was indeed blessed to see a beautiful vision dancing among the waves, although because of the tour I didn’t have the chance to stop and talk to her, it certainly seemed like she was having a whale of a time. Oh, speaking of whales (see what I did there?) listen out for the wonderful whale song as you paddle underwater and swim through shoals of Dory and assorted tropical fish. You may not find Nemo, but you will find a few sea monsters! The tour takes about ten minutes to complete, and if scuba isn’t your thing you can enjoy a swimming tour or even a a boat ride..there are loads to choose from via a board upon the beach.

After my watery adventures it was time for a sauna (yes, a sauna!) in the rather beautifully equipped beach side steam room. After you’ve cleansed your pores you can lie back in one of the hammocks or massage tables that are placed nearby.

There are  even bottles of massage lotion for you to treat your partner to a relaxing rub down; of course I was on my own so lucked out, but I did find a stunning spot for a cup of tea and some meditation as the sun set…

Because this is a virtual world you can enjoy your sunset and flip back to midday at the click of a button, and that’s just what I did as I slipped on my sandals and went into the town centre. The atmosphere here is fabulous. No, I’m not joking, turn up your speakers and listen! Careful use of sound effects really make the difference here; there’s the sound of the ferries engines and horns blasting out across the sea, as well as hungry seagulls by the dock and as you travel into the town itself (which is based upon Mykonos and Santorini ) you hear the chatter of crowded streets, the braying of donkeys and even lunchtime clatter as you progress. The buildings are very pretty and the winding streets just beg to be explored, and again just like upon the beach you can opt to take one of many tours to enable you to enjoy all of the sim, and take some great photos too.

This time there are walking tours and bike rides geared towards both singles and couples, and it’s nice to see that tinies are accommodated too..but really this is somewhere to enjoy with a loved one, and I strongly suggest you do. Once I’d finished a surprisingly long walking tour of the resort I decided to quickly change and relax with a beer on the terrace as the strains of ‘Zorba’s Dance’ filled the air…blissful. I wish I’d a bowl of olives and a beer beside me in real life, that would have made my experience absolutely perfect!

Now that I’ve found this amazing virtual holiday destination I know that I will keep returning to enjoy it because it has so much to offer, and is so beautifully done. I don’t have many criticisms either; for starters you don’t get blasted with notecards when you rez in which makes a really refreshing change, although on this occasion I actually would have appreciated some tips on the best windlight settings to use at locations in the town and on the beach. There are tip jars (deposit freely, this place is so worth it!) and voting booths which aren’t really a major distraction either and it’s certainly worth your time to vote for this place so that hopefully more people can find out about it and enjoy all the wonderful experiences that it has to offer.

Alas, it can be laggy at times, and when you’re touring you can find your movements become a tad hesitant on occasion but that is the nature of the game unfortunately.

It’s a wonderful way to spend a few hours in world and a place that I know I will be recommending to all of my friends, and I am sure once you’ve visited you will be doing the same:)
