These beautiful hairstyles by Clawtooth are a must-have, seriously. I want my hair like this in real life; volume at the crown and draped over my shoulders wearing my best come hither glance.. anyway, each style is a bloody steal at L$188 for a five colour pack. ‘Bardot’ is more formal, ‘Babette’ features gentle fly-aways across the face. Stunning.

I’m Your Aphrodite…
Lelutka has released three Goddess themed hairstyles today for summer, and they’re all rather special, which they should be if you’re going to name hairstyles after Goddesses. But don’t worry; I don’t think they’ll be angry and rain down fire and brimstone upon us, for Aphrodite, Athena and Demeter are beautiful styles evoking classical grace and splendour thus befitting their namesakes perfectly.
For this post I wanted to focus on the flowing locks of Aphrodite. This is a rigged mesh style that will move with your body, therefore it’s not resizable, but boy is it lovely. The hair tumbles in graceful waves down the back and is caught up at the sides, leaving more tousled locks to fall free over the shoulders. It perfectly evokes classical Grecian imagery and it would work not just as a high fashion style, which is obviously the market that it’s aimed at, but also for the role-play community too.
I’ve teamed it with one of the most glorious skins that I saw at the Skin Addiction showcase that’s in world at the moment. It’s a must attend event, courtesy of the Skin Addiction blog, featuring lots of delicious skins to feast your eyes upon and lots of names that I wasn’t familiar with, so I got TONS of demos to play with as well as some freebies too! (Join the Skin Addiction group to benefit) Incidentally, the layout of this event is fantastic. It’s not cluttered or fussy and the landscaping is absolutely amazing in the forest areas, I wanted to stay there all day exploring! (Dizzy Sparrow I salute you for your epic landscaping abilities, if I ever get my own land again in SL (something I dream about often) expect a call from me asking you to landscape it for me!))
But back to the skin. It’s a beauty! She’s called ‘Keiko’ and she’s from the ’Rosy Mood’ label, one I’d never heard of before but will be seriously checking out now! (See? Events like this do work!) Keiko features a choice of light or dark skin tone, as well as five make-ups too. There’s also teeth and cleavage options and they work perfectly; I’m totally delighted with it. And I think it works beautifully with this hair too to produce a combination fit for Mount Olympus itself.
To buy Lelutka hair you can visit the Marketplace or In-world store.
Rosy Mood has a blog, a mainstore and here’s the link to the Skin Showcase too!
Tuesday blog happy with VMC, Acide! and Tameless
So, back to blogging. After a sound verbal thrashing was delivered to the virtual cosmic demi-gods via the power of my monitor, Second Life let me back in to share some happy with you.
First up, we have some hair from a brand that’s totally new to me, called ‘Tameless’. This is the ‘Elizabeth’ hair style which is a sort of short, messy bob held up on one side with a hair grip. The grip is colour change, and I like this style very much. I particularly relish the way that there are a few tendrils of hair framing the face and some limited movement when you walk. It’s a great, casual style and if you’re a fan of the bob, which I am, this is a must-have for your collection. I took a flight to the store and had a wander round off the back of this style, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I spotted some really nice styles (including a new one called ‘Bonnie’, a bob, natch:) that are well worth a looksy. Go see:)
I’ve teamed the hair in a couple of shades with a few outfits from a brand that I’d never heard of until today; ‘VMC‘. The blogger package warranted a trip to the store, and I was astonished by the size of the place. Not only that, but there are tons of outfits to choose from.I have to say I was impressed by the mesh tops and frocks that I’m wearing in this post, I particularly like the patterns and designs that are available in store too. I recommend you check this place out, some designs are perhaps a little dated by current SL fashion standards but the majority are more than acceptable. Also, most outfits in store are a mere L$10 each. TEN LINDENS!! Mesh outfits are a tad more expensive at L$25 (!) but that’s a steal isn’t it? There’s a vast range of clubwear, trousers, fitted frocks as well as shoes, shapes and even eyes in store too, so if you have a friend who has just joined Second Life and you’re feeling generous you could do them a favour and donate them a couple of hundred linden and kit them out just by visiting this one store!
Finally, the skin I’m wearing is by [Acide!] Acide Innovia is a new skin maker to me but someone that I will surely keep an eye on in future because I love these skins that she has placed on sale at the ‘Culture Shock‘ event. In both these shots I’m wearing ‘Muriel’, and the body shading on both the pale and tan variants is excellent. I really love the eyebrow illustration and the colours that have been selected for eyeshadow. The skin has a delicate feel to it, and I really rate it. You can also find the ‘Ashley-Bleu’ skin there too; this is the skin I’m wearing on the headshot down the page. I wouldn’t normally wear a skin with bright blue lips but it actually works beautifully, and I think it would lend itself really well to certain urban or even fantasy looks, should you be so inclined:)(Incidentally, should you be so inclined there’s a special edition of ‘Muriel’ available at Culture shock in Violet with 50% of proceeds going to ‘Medecins sans Frontieres’, a worthy cause if ever there was one)
A final note: the VMC outfits include jeans as worn in the snaps, which is pretty bodacious innit? The skull and crossbones necklace is available from the [Acide!] store at culture shock.
Witchy Wednesday – Hatpins presents a perfect circlet…
I’m surely not the only one to have noticed that the nights are starting to draw in again and there’s a wee chill in the air indicating the forthcoming arrival of Autumn. As a Pagan my favourite festivals are those that take place around the harvest time. I think this is mainly because I was born in September, so of course I’m a Virgo, with my birth sign often represented by Demeter bearing a sheaf of corn in her arms. It’s a wonderful time of year, and one that I’ve seen beautifully celebrated in Second Life in the past.
But of course at a ceremony (as well as the intent) the outfit is all, and what would a Priestess be without a circlet that befits the season? Well, as you can see I’ve found a belter, and it’s part of the 69 Linden Wednesday offering from Hatpins. It’s called ‘Branwen’, and comes in two variations: the Autumnal version that I’m sporting here and an altogether more Spring-like number in fresh blues, mauves and pinks. It’s a gorgeous piece of work; if you look closely there are lillies, roses and leaves tinted to the shades of the season and it’s a rare bargain indeed.
This was my first visist to Hatpins; not being especially into hats I’ve never had much reason to troll over there and have a gander, but it’s actually awash with awesome headwear and stylish hats, caps and bonnets and is well worth a bijou lookette if that’s your kind of thing. Failing that, just fly over and get this for your Mabon celebrations (Yes, I know we’re over a month away but you don’t want to miss it!) To complete the look I’m wearing a freshly released Truth hairstyle, ‘Trinity‘, and it’s a wholesome, streak-free beauty that perfectly frames the face and looks very appropriate when worn with Witchy attire, and it works beautifully with the circlet…nom!
