Kitty’s back..kinda…

Kitty’s back..kinda…

..sort of. I’ve had my surgery but I can’t sit properly still, which is a real pain in the butt. Literally. However, in the VERY short time I have been able to sit at my PC I’ve created a rather lovely shape for you at a steal of a price. This is ‘Tokyo Rose’, and she’s been created for you to wear specifically with Tuli’s latest skin, ‘Sayuri’. I’ve never really designed a shape with a specific skin in mind but ‘Sayuri’ is a thing of beauty, as are all of Tuli’s skins, and the make-ups that are available are a veritable treat to be sure. YOU MUST HAVE IT.

This is a fascinating skin actually, it has expert detailing, and I’m besotted by the detail on the throat..as you can see in this photograph it’s so perfect as to be real. If you’re a vampire and you’re reading this I have no doubt that your fangs are ready to go by now, it’s practically Vamp-porn. Another point to note in this photo is the hair. As you know I’m a huge fan of Truth, so I was delighted to discover that he’s created a range of styles that are freely available to all in the LIBRARY drop down in your inventory…you know, the bit that no one uses? I can count the amount of times I’ve used my library on one hand, so amazing additions to it such as a range of free, quality hairstyles by probably the most successful hair designer in-world today is something very special indeed.

Tokyo Rose is available at my Nu Republik location for the crazy price of L$45. Think Tom Cruise hopping up and down on a sofa crazy and you’re not even close, so you’d better go and get one. It may be cheap as chips, but it shows ‘Sayuri’ off something special, and besides you’ll need to be saving your pennies so you can buy the skins from Tuli, won’t ya?

Kitty’s jinxed..but in a VERY SUPER HAPPY GOOD way…

Kitty’s jinxed..but in a VERY SUPER HAPPY GOOD way…

Sometimes I just don’t have enough words in my vocabulary to describe the sheer awesome of a particular virtual item, and today is one of those days. Apologies for not posting recently, but I’m back with a post featuring an outfit of such quality and complexity that I may not ever be able to blog anything ever again, as nothing else will compare.
(Ok, that may be a *bit* of a bijou fibette, but I’m just gearing you up for the wonders that are to follow…)

First of all, time for me to confess. I’ve never really been a big fan of clumping great big boots and cyber gear. As regular readers will know it’s just not not really my style, and when I have seen it worn by others it’s never looked quite right to me. I dunno, perhaps you have to be of a particular mindset to find it attractive. Given a choice between a slinky dress and a pair of mind-fuck boots I’m pretty sure you can guess what Kitty would pick.

But not any more. I have seen the error of my ways, and the light is blinding me..

Feast your eyes upon this outfit. It’s the work of a creative genius called Jinx Spiritweaver. Get accustomed to that name, because her profile is about to go stratospheric. She’s just begun retailing her wares at a store called ‘Rublik‘, which is intended to feature cyber club and street-wear by a collective of super-talented artists. Jinx has certainly started the ball-rolling with her futuristic vision and the promise of many more amazing items yet to come, but so far she has contributed this outfit (available as separate pieces) as well as another style of boots which are just as mind-blowing to the store..(I’ll tell you about those boots some other time when I’ve calmed down a little!)
The outfit itself is named after the store, and consists of strap ‘stompers’ ( a better name for boots there has never been, because that’s exactly what you want to do in these!) arm-warmers, corset, scarf and there’s also a gas-mask which I’m not sporting because that would deprive you of viewing my rather pretty mush. So why is this outfit so darn praiseworthy? First up, the texture and detailing on this is so good and so well accomplished that it almost makes me want to weep. I’m serious! When you zoom in upon something for the first time and see the love that has gone into crafting that item doesn’t it provoke an emotional reaction in you? It certainly does me! When someone creates an item in-world with care it truly shows, and in this case you can see that hours have been spent tweaking bits this way and that to make everything just perfect.
Secondly, the details. I *LOVE* the strange ‘aerials'( I dunno what else to call them) that protrude from the elbows on this piece, giving it a strange, other-worldly feel as they glow. I love the way that when you lift your arms you see flashes of light stream across the polished surface of the arm-warmers. I love the way that the
corset gleams and accentuates every curve, yet is solid and constructed to be darn unbreakable, as symbolised by
the wee padlock on the front. It harkens back to the female robot in Metropolis a tad. But nothing prepares you for the colossal ferocity and sheer enormity of the boots..(Click for bigger view)

In a lesser individual’s hands this kind of footwear would verge upon the absolutely ridiculous. Jinx has made it seem so realistic and so vital that you don’t even question the construction; instead you just bask in the glory of these audacious boots. NOTHING is skimped upon. Every detail and every curve is lovingly textured to provide a
sense of realism and depth that you just don’t get from other boots of this ilk. They are a sheer delight to behold..they’re art people! They’re also made with a sense of humour too..I love the wiring and the fact that these mechanical monstrosities have a grill at the toe. Let’s face it, after a day spent stomping around the grid in these
clangers your feet would hum!
These boots are made for moon-walking, but not in the Michael Jackson sense, in the ‘I’m actually walking across the surface of a planet’ sense. I can so imagine clomping across the skin of an alien world in these babies..and therein lies the key to this whole outfit. Even though it is a remarkable work of fiction, it has the tip of it’s baby toe dipped into the water of reality, which is just enough to make it feel authentic, and that’s why I love it so much. As a virtual character you can only go so far, but when I am wearing this outfit in-world I can imagine that these boots make you feel totally invincible and want to STOMP everywhere in them.
Kudos to Jinx, these blinding boots are amazing to watch in operation. I promise you that despite their size the movement is fluid and captured so effortlessly that you won’t give them a second thought! Look, I know I have a tendency to waffle on sometimes, my bad, BUT prove to me these boots, in fact this whole darn outfit isn’t as good as I’ve made it out to be and I will happily eat my words. But fact of the matter is if you even attempt that you’ll achieve an epic fail of such proportions that it will make ‘Star Wars Episode One’ seem positively Oscar-worthy by comparison.

A final note then, after this effusive (but completely deserved) praise. The photos that I have included in this review really don’t do the pieces justice at all. You can sort of manage on a standard clothing review but on anoutfit of such complexity, well it’s practically machinery after all, I insist that you simply HAVE to see it in-world. If you’re in any way inclined towards this kind of thing all I can say to you is stick your fingers in your pocket and pull out your Linden dollars and go and try these babies on for size..and if they aren’t your kind of thing at all, then you need to do it even more. Why? Because you will NEVER get as much satisfaction, sheer fun or admiring glancesfrom anything else that you have worn now or since. I’ve only had this on a few hours and I’ve had so many people telling me how amazing it looks that I’m having trouble teleporting due to the size of my head.

Go and check out Jinx’s work; you can do this via her X-Street listings, but also by visiting Rublik in world.

Stick your neck out, live a little and invest in her amazing virtual creations, and then go and explore an environment that you have never appreciated before. Go to a club (There’s one across the road from Rublik, funny that!) or a cyber-styled RP area or just find somewhere that you can walk around and be admired. You will turn
every virtual head that you pass..can you imagine if you were a newbie who had just rezzed in world for the first
time and you saw a girl in this outfit? EXACTLY.

Jinx, you’re a genius. ‘Nuff said.

Bunnylicious!

Bunnylicious!

The grid is, quite literally, hopping mad these days, and I’m not just talking about Prok when I say that either:) You practically can’t move without bumping into a bunny. Literally. The little breeding bleeders are everywhere! I don’t mind the Ozimals Bunnies though, they’re a million more times attractive than the chickens or the turtles ever were, and you can get such nice things for them; houses and accessories and all kinds of pretty. What’s not to love?
Of course Easter is fast approaching, hence the bunnification, and there are eggs and chicks and hunts and all sorts to keep you busy over the forthcoming long weekend. Content creators have been VERY busy, and there are some lovely items to be found with which to decorate your virtual home. Do a search on Xstreet and you’ll find some great stuff, and some utterly dismal items too, but my personal favourites are the work of Minke and Sway Dench. Minke has some stunning fixtures and fittings on display and they will really jazz up your home for the holiday, but for this post I’m going to focus very quickly on Sway Dench.
I’ve mentioned Sway and her fabulousness before, but if y ou aren’t familiar with her work she creates wonderful objects and fashions, from cookie bears to dresses to bedroom furniture, there’s nothing this talented lady cannot put her hand to. Her home sim, Swayland, has a Butterfly Hunt underway at the moment, and there are also some lovely Easter themed items on sale for not very many Lindens at all..
A simple yet really fun accessory is this Bunny Bag. At only L$50 it’s a bargain which Easters up an outfit in no time, and even better than that it’s colour change too so will coordinate nicely with your outfit. I’m wearing it with a lovely frock from Coco, a real investment piece at L$275 that you can dress up or down to your heart’s content. One problem though; it is a b*stard to fit. I wish fashion designers would realise that not every avatar has slender or small proportions. Personally I always have issues with items from Asian designers. For RunoRuno I made a shape specifically for the purpose of wearing the clothing, but it gets a bit tiresome having to do that for every designer and faffing around refitting prims is a real ball-ache sometimes. Still that’s the price you pay for quality fashion I guess, because it is a beautiful dress…anyway, go and get yourself a bunny bag.

A Kittylicious Update….

A Kittylicious Update….

So regular readers of the blog may be wondering what’s going on because I’ve not been updating properly, due to RL health issues, and when I have I’ve been blogging about my shapes. Constantly! Ok, time to fess up; something VERY exciting is happening to the Kittylicious brand, and I’m so stoked that I can’t keep it in anymore….
But first let’s track-back a little. Kittylicious! started life as a market stall in Malt in June 2009. A fortnight later, and completely on a whim, I decided to take a leap of faith and rented a store, which then turned into an even bigger store and then two stores (At Malt, and at Harlow) This was hugely satisfying for me on a personal level, but it’s now time for the brand to evolve again. Recently, I decided not to renew my rental at Harlow, which was a shame as I was relatively successful there, but I needed to hold on to my funds while I thought about the best way to take the brand forward.
With that in mind, I decided to rent at the beautiful ‘Second Style Island’ location, and embarked on a terrific adventure with Sable Sunset and Amanda Shinji. I asked ‘Able Sable and Handy Mandy’ ( They’ll kill me for writing that here!) to help me with the image of my store and brand. I can’t manipulate prims to save my life, but Sable is a veritable Goddess of prim manipulation, and her building skills combined with Amanda’s eye for corking design have resulted in an interior to die for at my store in Second Style Island. Not only that, but Amanda and Sable offered me the chance to host my main shop at Nu Republik, and I leapt at the chance. Nu Republik is a stunning location and it’s a real honour to have my store featured there, on the seafront no less!
Alas, all this change means that at the end of the month my Malt location will be no more. I’m sad about that because Malt is a wonderful sim, and Khea Karas is a wonderfully supportive and helpful sim owner, but for the moment I have to concentrate on getting the best value for money that I possibly can, and this means trimming my rental expenses and concentrating on making more sales.
It’s always been my policy to use criticism and comments as a basis for growth, and despite a few knock-backs over the past few months I feel stronger for it. I’m grateful for all the feedback I receive; it helps me to develop my shape making skills and concentrate on areas that have been highlighted to me. That said, when it comes down to it, I make shapes. There’s no point in being pretentious about it! The only reason people buy a shape is because they can’t be bothered with faffing around with the sliders to make one of their own. It’s much more convenient to buy a ready-made shape and as I’ve always said I don’t see the sense in charging the earth for that privilege, but I have to recognise that I need to make at least some return for my efforts. Therefore I’m going to change the pricing policies at Kittylicious a little, but don’t worry; no shape will ever cost over L$150 (Previously my guarantee was L$100, but hey, I’ve inflation to consider!)There are of course stores that sell shapes for triple that price, some even as much as L$1000, and good luck to them for doing that, but I firmly believe that I can offer a quality product at a fraction of that price tag and still have happy customers. So, let me tell you about the goodies.. There’s going to be a LOAD of new female shapes at both locations, and some old faves at Nu which have been heavily reduced. Old shapes vary in price from L$10-L$50, so bargains ahoy, BUT the biggest news of all must be the official release of my range of male shapes. This has been a LONG time coming after a couple of false starts, but I’m pleased to say that my initial range features four ferocious fellas, priced at L$150 each…you’ll have seen select images of them recently. I’m also partaking in the Second Style Island gift release, and my pressie ( for boys and girls) will be available on 01 April…yes, April Fool’s Day. Say no more.
All my shapes still follow my principle of curves, curves and more curves, and are all copy and modify, but NOT transfer. I have done transfer releases in the past and I’m open to doing that again, but not at the moment. My main store will also feature a shape of the week, in a big frame as you walk in..and for Easter I’m going to be releasing a shape called ‘Bunneh’ for L$30 ( She’s not there yet, patience!) Last but not least, make sure you join my subscribo’s at my locations for random shape gifts and updates. You’ve got to be in it to win it! So, watch this space for the official opening date for my Nu Republik location. Kittylicious Second Style is open already, and Kittylicious Malt will close down in a fortnight when my rental expires.
Change is a scary thing but I’m hoping these steps will lead to a bright future for Kittylicious shapes, and I look forward to kitty-ing you out with the best shapes on the grid!
