The MBA Bi-Monthly Is Almost Here!

2016_001So, here we are.  A new year, a new start, and a very  HAPPY NEW YEAR to all KITTYWITCHIN’ readers!

Forgive me if I’m sounding a little melancholy but 2015 was a hard year for so many of us, myself included. Add to that international events that saw the world so divided, and you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who wasn’t glad to see the end of the old year, and welcome the new.

I’ve spoken many times on this blog about my own personal attitude to blogging, about it being about pleasure rather than commitment first and foremost, and that’s why you’ll see that I barely posted over the festive season.  I gave myself some much needed time off from life in general. This week I’ve had a week off work to just relax, re-focus and just BE. It’s done me the power of good, and whilst I can’t say that I feel re-invigorated (it’s a damp, dank January so far after all) I sure do feel rested.

So here’s the first blogpost of 2016.  I haven’t actually logged in world much at all during the festive period but I’m glad I did today because it’s been lovely to receive some gorgeous items to share with you that are part of the MESH BODY ADDICTS BI-MONTHLY event.  This dress is the first item I opened and as soon as I saw it I knew it would work perfectly with this hair that I blogged from ‘Winter Trend’ last month, ‘Miriam’ by EN VOGUE.

The dress, called ‘Audrey’, is from PPD (PINK PEARL DESIGNS) and it’s a nice take on an often-repeated Second Life wardrobe staple. The stud embellishment across the torso looks good, and it winds itself around to the back of the dress. I didn’t find any major fit mesh issues that couldn’t be corrected via HUDS, and the dress fits BELLEZA ‘Freya’ and ‘Isis’ along with Maitreya ‘Lara’ (worn here) as well as SLink. Because of the long sleeves and the shape of the dress it has a formal feel, and in my opinion it works particularly well when worn with updos and of course this beret style.

You’ll be able to purchase ‘Audrey’ from the MESH BODY ADDICTS BI-MONTHLY EVENT that opens on the 10th, and promises to be a corker. I’ll be sharing some more of the goodies that you’ll be able to buy from the event on these pages over the next few days, so watch this space!

sandals_008Another day, another pair of new shoes from THE MESH BODY ADDICTS FAIR.  Like the ESSENZ pair that I was sporting yesterday these G&D ‘Roma’ Sandals are a lovely, well-textured pair of heels that are easy to dress up or down. PicMonkey Collage

I’ve never been a blogger who was fixated on shoes in world but in recent months I’ve become very enamoured with them.  I think this is because increasing number of shoe designers are starting to realise that there’s more to a pair of virtual heels than a texture and a bit of shine.  As I wrote yesterday, you want a bit of substance from your virtual footwear, and the more authentic looking the better. That’s why I’m starting to pay more attention  to footwear in-world, and this pair are really worth taking time to look over and look great dressed up or dressed down, which is precisely what I’ve done with them.

I’ve teamed them with two more items from THE MESH BODY ADDICTS FAIR; first of all are these rather dandy pants from MODULUS.  I love the baggy worn-in feeling on these, and rather cheekily they do show a wee bit of your butt at the back! They ride low and feature worn patches on the shin; if you zoom in you can see that the fabric pattern is similar to that which is conventionally used to make a bandana.

Up top I’m wearing, well, not very much really! <Chuckle> I realised the chevron pattern from the watch that I was wearing yesterday was similar to the one on this bikini from VIVI which is my final item for today from THE MESH BODY ADDICTS FAIR and I think it works really well when worn as a top, don’t you? It’s not overly fussy but adds a welcome splash of colour to the rest of my outfit, and the pattern has been applied well.

Last but not least is my hairstyle which is an absolute corker.  LITTLE BONES have released a couple of styles at FAMESHED this month, and I’m sporting this one in the ‘Landslide’ colour-set.  It’s a side-swept style with oomph and it is absolutely beautiful.  I never thought I’d be as into the longer styles as I am these days, but I lay the blame firmly at Nova Faerye’s door.  Her work is astonishing and there’s a reason that LITTLE BONES has become such an iconic brand in-world. Love it!sandals_006Right, time to get my shoes on and head on out the door.  I still have blisters from my trip yesterday, but I will soldier on.  Wanna come shopping? Here’s your list!

NEW YEAR, NEW KITTY!? (Not ruddy likely!)

NEW YEAR, NEW KITTY!? (Not ruddy likely!)

 January_003

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY READERS!

I hope you’ve all had a fantastic festive season with your family and loved ones.  I know I had an absolutely cracking time, but in between RL work and being with loved ones I found very little time to log-in (which is just as it should be!)   I’m making up for it now though with gusto, and busily compiling some blog posts for you all to enjoy. So let’s start as we mean to go on shall we?

Seeing as it’s a new year I thought I’d share my first semi-nude shot of the year with you all, LOL!  This is me sporting the latest mesh body to hit the grid, ‘Lara’ by MAITREYA. Now, I decided after the BELLEZA malarkey that I wasn’t going to buy any more mesh bodies because with all the DMCA nonsense I didn’t ‘t know if they would prove to be a sound investment. Spendin thousands of Lindens upon something for which you’d expect regular updates, only for the item to be DMCA’d and taken off-grid isn’t a good return on the money spent. Not that I’m tight but I’m not made of Lindens, and I like to be careful what I buy. (Of course you do Kitty, that’s why you have 56k of items in your inventory…PFFFT)

Fortunately BELLEZA returned back to the grid with their wonderful mesh body and a happy Kitty this did make, so when MAITREYA released Lara my initial thoughts were “Nah, I’ll give it a miss.” I already had two mesh bodies, SLINK and BELLEZA, so I didn’t need another one, right? WRONG.

I made the FATAL mistake of demoing Lara. (I blame Magenta De Vinna AKA Skittles for this, because I asked on Plurk if I should give it a go because clearly I can’t think for myself, and Skittles told me that it was definitely worth a demo.) The rest is history. Readers, this body is bloody divine. I zoomed over to a sandbox, opened the box and fell in love.

So what are my thoughts on this bod? It’s very different to SLINK and BELLEZA in that, well to my eyes at least, it’s more ‘lifted’ around the bewbs and bum areas, but not in an exaggerated Nicki Minaj-on-acid manner. It feels youthful and zesty and vibrant and is VERY easy to wear. To me, SLINK feels like the classic mesh body that anyone can wear, BELLEZA feels more modern in some ways,  but this one feels, well, fizzy and vibrant, if you get my drift? Indeed, this is the first mesh body I’ve tried where I’ve managed to get a really good skin match out of the box without wearing one of the designated skins. Seaming issues to the neck in this body have been minimal for me, and after a few minor corrections I can’t see a join at all. I have had problems with my BELLEZA body and my SLINK body with the neck area, but the MAITREYA body has pretty much worked straight out of the box, which has made it a real blessing in my opinion. The whole package feels less ‘fussy’ in a lot of ways; although the HUD doesn’t have the panache of say the Belleza HUD, it’s effective and easy to use. I think the alphas are the most

The whole package feels less ‘fussy’ in a lot of ways; although the HUD doesn’t have the panache of say the Belleza HUD, it’s easy to use. I think the alphas are the most effective thus far too; I’ve found fitting my clothing around this to be the easiest of all the bodies that I wear.  I’ve had issues in the past where I’ve had to change my shape to get the best fit, I haven’t with this and my outfits look grand.

As far as changes go I’d like to see more hand positions included and more nail polish colours too in the basic HUD, but apart from that I really don’t see what other improvements will need to be made, other than enhancements over time.  The HUD needs work I think, even when resized it’s quite intrusive on the screen so if that could be reduced to a tiny icon by the click of a button that would prove useful. It also lacks ‘Oomph’ as far as HUDS go, it could do with prettying up a bit, but that is a cosmetic change that has absolutely no impact on the quality of this body at all.  Of course I ended up buying it, and guys I haven’t taken it off since I got it!

If you’re into mesh bodies then you definitely need this one in your collection, and if you’ve never tried them before why not give the DEMO a try? The results are really

The results are really fantastic, as I hope my photographs demonstrate..

I mean just LOOK at my bum, look at the hands…GAH!!! Amazeballs aren’t they? I absolutely LOVE it! There’s plenty of blogger buzz about this release too. I particularly liked Berry’s blog post about this body, which compares it with others on the market (except Belleza), and you can read it here.

Check out the MAITREYA ‘Lara’ body by clicking HERE to visit the Mainstore  The body costs L$2750 (That’s about £5.25), and for the product I think that’s an incredibly fair price.

Have you tried the Maitreya ‘Lara’ body yet?

What do you think?

(Note, ALL these shots are raw from Second Life. Click for a larger and closer look.)

So the waiting is over, and the Belleza Venus mesh body has hit the grid and is already a huge success.  Not really a surprise, it’s been much anticipated over the past few weeks.  When the Slink Physique was released there was a huge rush to own what was seen as something of a revolution in-world, and it’s been the same for this release; which is why the beautiful new Belleza main store is jam-packed with punters all eager to try it out.
I braved the crowds and got a demo to test. I own many Belleza skins, so the idea of a bespoke Belleza mesh body is an exciting prospect. But has it been worth the wait, and the considerable hype?

First impressions? Well, it’s a beautiful body, no doubt about that.  The shape of the body itself is very good indeed;  there’s a lovely swooping arch to the spine that makes your bum look pert, and the breast shape is  simply fabulous. In fact, the boobies are a real selling point for me; they look perky and nommable.  There’s a push-up option too but I’m not sure how often I’ll use it, the regular ones look great! In the interests of science (Yay! Science!) I  played with the sliders and the mesh shape seems to accommodate changes  very well indeed. This is a good thing, because when it comes to clothes slight adjustments had to be made to ensure a good fit. The ability to select various body parts to ‘alpha-out’ is  very useful, but a few improvements do need to be made.  I found a couple of areas around the inner thigh that just wouldn’t go alpha despite my changing my shape slightly, but I’m sure such issues can be addressed in future updates, of which I am sure there will be many.

belleza_001

The main attraction with this mesh body,  for me at least, are the inbuilt hands and feet. Rather than rooting through your inventory to find the right hand shape or foot style  you can select  from a number of options via HUD, and change via a quick click. It’s like magic. The hands are especially beautifully sculpted, and the ability to change hand position and foot shape via a simple HUD click is worth the price alone. This is a huge selling point for the Venus body, and the results are fantastic.  The fast HUD driven  changes will be particularly coveted by bloggers, who can choose the perfect hand position for their shot with just a quick click. The feet look good too: flat, mid or high, but in my opinion they aren’t quite as special as the SLink fee, which  in my opinion are ever-so-slightly more detailed. That said the advantage here is that you don’t have to fork out for individual foot styles. There are some manicure and pedicure colours built into the HUD to allow for styling changes, but in my opinion it wouldn’t hurt to add a few more colours. There wasn’t a green polish for a start… (yes, I do wear green nail polish in real life on occasion, LOL) but I am sure that like SLink  more appliers will soon become available. ( To be honest I’m messing about a little here, the included nail colours are more than acceptable:)

If you have a huge SLink manicure, pedicure and shoe collection then you’ll want to be able to continue to use your purchases and to accommodate this there’s a Belleza  Venus Body included without hands and feet so that you can continue to use your SLink appendages.  You know initially  I didn’t know how I felt about that; on the one hand it’s great to be able to continue to use SLink assets with this body, but isn’t it a wee bit on the cheeky side too? That said, doesn’t the fact that such an option is even included recognise the fact that SLink Physique set the bar pretty high to begin with? I don’t do SL politics, but I can say that BOTH of these mesh bodies are pretty darn fabulous and equally worth owning, and I certainly don’t think that sales for SLink will be seriously impacted by the release of Venus. In fact, if anything the release of the Belleza Venus Mesh Body will encourage further developments in mesh body technology, a prospect I certainly relish!

In short then the Belleza Venus gets a thumbs up from me.  The HUD is fantastic, the hands and feet awesome and the one-click change is a brilliant idea.  The boobs have great shape, as does the body itself.  If you’re thinking of splashing out the cost is L$3995 (That’s about £12.50 GBP) but you do get a lot for your money so I actually do think that this is a very fair price indeed. This is a list of what you’ll get:

  • 8 Original Belleza Skintones
  •  16 Skintone Presets
  •  8 Skin Applier Save Slots
  •  Tattoo, Underwear and Clothing Layer
  • Extensive Alpha System
  •  Natural or Push-Up Breast Options
  • 16 Hand pose options for each hand built into HUD with simple 1-click change
  • 3 Nail Lengths – Short, Medium & Long
  • 20 Finger & Toenail Polish Presets
  • 4 Feet Options: Flat, Medium, High, and JustDesign built into HUD with simple 1-click change

That’s a lot isn’t it?

If you’re considering buying  I highly recommend that you demo Venus first, and by that I don’t just mean try it on in a sandbox. Wear different outfits, play with the sliders, add different hairstyles and most of all MOVE ABOUT….

PicMonkey CollageSeriously, stick on some tunes in your virtual abode, and using your favourite dancing animation throw some shapes.  That’s exactly what I did above. Observe  how the mesh body moves, and how the clothes move with it.  Try the different feet shapes and hand shapes; see if you will be able to live your Second Life in this body successfully.  If you’re happy, zoom on over to Belleza to purchase one.

Oh and if you’re wondering? I haven’t actually bought one…yet. I’ve heard that there’s a curvy one on the way (although it already accommodates curves very well)  and I need to see that before I make any purchasing decisions…watch this space!

Last but not least, this release has gotten a LOT of blogger coverage.  I particularly liked this post on the ‘Miss3chevious’ blog which really shows how curvy and svelte the body can look, this one from Bitchzilla and this excellent video tutorial from Vixie.  The amazing Kaelyn Alecto provides fantastic coverage on her beautiful blog ( I have serious blog envy whenever I visit!) and Grazia and Lucie‘s posts also prove how amazing Venus looks when worn in a voluptuous and buxom style too.
