A few of Kitty’s Arcade Faves

A few of Kitty’s Arcade Faves

UPDATE: THE ARCADE SHOPPING GUIDE IS OUT! CLICK HERE

You know something very odd that I’ve noticed about Second Life is that even though we live in a virtual world where it can be whatever season you want, we still stick very closely to our actual seasonal pattern.  I guess the real life influence is just too strong to resist in this case, and this is not a complaint, far from it.  We’re actually entering what is (in my opinion) the very BEST time to be a Second Life resident. Once September hits we have some amazing things to look forward to.  Most sim owners change their land to reflect the season so you have all the vibrant colours of Fall to enjoy, and then of course we have Halloween which every year gets madder and more fun. We’ll be spooking ourselves silly into November, and once Thanksgiving hits then generally it’s downhill (on a sledge, naturally) into Christmas.

Without a doubt the period of September-December is an absolutely manic time with events and parties and all kinds of occasions to look forward to, but my actual favourite starts next week, on Tuesday. Yup, it’s THE ARCADE.  Love it or hate it THE ARCADE GACHA EVENT is now a firmly established event on the Second Life calendar.  September has always proved to be an exciting round too, and this year is going to be an absolute corker, make no mistake.  In this post then I’m going to be sharing with you some of the gacha that I am most excited about playing, starting with..

Bastet @ The ArcadeWhen I saw this ‘Bastet’ Collection from PIXICAT I very nearly peed myself with excitement.  See, as the name of the blog suggests I am indeed an avid ailurophile and practising Pagan with an affiliation to the Goddess Bast.  I am absolutely  obsessed; there are statues of her all over my home, books about her. (My favourite being ‘Bast & Sekhmet Eyes Of Ra’ by Storm Constantine and Eloise Coquio Storm  signed my copy when I attended her house for a Tarot course.  Cool huh?) I try to make an annual pilgrimage to see ‘my’ statue, the Geyer Anderson Cat, at The British Museum every year too, so of course when I saw that PIXICAT had called their Gacha ‘Bastet’ it pushed all my buttons and it looks incredible.  I’m hopeful I’ll get my paws on a jacket or two, and the kittys will look very at home in my sky-box  too. I am desperately trying to reduce my belongings so that I can save some precious prims. It’s not easy because I have so much epic stuff in my virtual home that I just don’t want to part with…
The Arcade . DIY.Love PotionTaking the sphinx cat theme that PIXICAT engineered so wonderfully and adding a witchy twist are BIRDY with their ‘Hocus Pocus’ gacha.  This is another absolute must-have for me; I’m loving the toads, the cauldrons and spell books are rendered to perfection and the cats and owls are simply sublime.

My dressing table is absolutely choc-full with goodies form TRES BLAH featured at previous Arcade rounds and this month will be no exception; Juliette Westerburg has released another collection of must have decorative pieces that definitely need to find a home in my skybox! There are more make-up bags and brushes but I’m particularly after the cat-shaped trinket box and the pillow.

Tres Blah - Eclectic Collection (2024)

Of course there are many fun items to be had too; Seeing as I spend most of my time under a Slanket in real life I’ll definitely be throwing some Lindens towards COMMONER’s ‘Sluggie’ pile and wearing one while I chill out in-world…
[Commoner] Sluggies (Gacha Key)

I’ll also be trying to win Tweety the cockatiel in memory of Rocky who was my parents pet bird and constant companion for 15 glorious years..Intrigue Co. - Plushie Pals: Bae Birds

Of course a LOT of things haven’t been previewed yet and I’m sure there are many content creators who are still working on their final productions, but the wondering, waiting and the longing are all part of THE ARCADE’s twisted charm.  Of course none of us will be able to get into the sim for the majority of the first fortnight either, but if you’re anything like me you’ll be busy making lists and hitting the yard sales with haste. I do think I’ve left the best for last though.  You should all know by now what a huge NYLON PINKNEY fan I am and I went absolutely ballistic in RL when I saw the pictured she’d released of her arcade goodies:
Nylon Outfitters for September Round of Arcade - Cat Rings!

They’re cat rings and they are beyond perfect.  I’m only annoyed that I don’t have 16 fingers so that I can wear all of them at the same time; I definitely will have every single one of these in my collection and I’ll wear them with serious pride.  (I’ll also be sporting YUMMY’s Septum Ring collection too. So much to love!)

If you’re curious to see what goodies THE ARCADE GACHA EVENTS have in store  for us this round keep your eyes glued to their FLICKR FEED.  That’s what I’ve been doing and I’m hitting refresh constantly to see what has been added. There’s so much that it’ds almost impossible to keep up with it all; it’s very exciting and I cannot wait for Tuesday to come around.  What are you looking forward to this round of THE ARCADE?

My Name is Kitty, and I’m a MESH BODY ADDICT

My Name is Kitty, and I’m a MESH BODY ADDICT

Mesh Body Addicts Fair Maiden Top by MasoomThe MESH BODY ADDICTS FAIR is almost upon us and I know this event has been eagerly awaited by so many across the grid. The Fair opens Midnight 1st August 2015 and will close 11pm August 21st 2015, and it’s going to cater to mesh bodies, obviously, but will also cater to mesh heads too; in fact there will be a myriad of mesh items that will be served by this event.  There will be items for both male and female avatars and content will include both fitmesh and applier mesh body fashion items such as clothing, skins, accessories, make-up and tattoos, shoes and  much, much more. Ooh the excitement!
It’s definitely one to relish, and I will be covering the event extensively here on Kittywitchin’, but as yet I haven’t succumbed to replacing Kitty’s visage with a mesh head so you’ll see mostly clothing rather than make-up from the event (with the exception of any lipstick appliers for PXL Sweet Lips that I may find) on these pages.  I own and adore the Maitreya ‘Lara’, Belleza ‘Isis’, ‘Freya’ and ‘Venus’ bodies as well as my beloved SLink ‘Physique’ and I’ll incorporate items for all of them into my  forthcoming blog posts. For my first post from the MESH BODY ADDICTS FAIR I’m sporting the ‘Maiden’ top by a brand called MASOOM. This is a very revealing little number with fancy sleeve detailing. The sleeves are fastened by delicate gold chains and you will find it available in Coal, Ruby or Rose (a nice pink hue, not shown) at the event.  I’ve teamed it with some utterly outstanding TRES BLAH denim from UBER SL , and an old favourite LITTLE BONES hairstyle, producing a finished look that is casual with an edge that’s enhanced by my stunning DELLA Skin by ZOUL CREATIONS.

(Incidentally, there’s going to be a photo contest that you can participate in during the event.  Have a think about what kind of pictures you’re going to put together while you’re waiting for it to open…)

SEVEN DAYS OF DENIM CHALLENGE: DAY 3

SEVEN DAYS OF DENIM CHALLENGE: DAY 3

shirt_001Another day, another denim adventure!

Today I fancied the classic white shirt and blue jeans combo, but I mixed it up a bit by wearing the shirt open and loose, and adding some frayed denim shorts instead of full jeans. It’s a footloose and fancy free sort of look, made all the better for the glorious hairstyle that I’m sporting, along with an old classic BELLEZA skin. BELLEZA is having a bit of a sale at the moment actually, and it’s well worth your time to check them out. Well, ‘a bit of a sale’ is an understatement, it’s actually a HUGE RETIREMENT sale, so it’s in your best interest to take a trip over and scoop up some favourites before they’re gone forever.
My guess is that the BELLEZA team is planning for the release of their mesh body, amongst other things, so they’re making space in their store for all the lovely goodness coming our way. The sale gave me the chance to finally pick up the Chloe skin that I have lusted after for an age; I don’t tend to buy many skins these days, but I have ALWAYS wanted this skin because of the eyeliner options in Bundle 2.
I genuinely think it’s one of the best skins that Tricky Boucher has ever produced and it’s my honest opinion that the eyeliners, shadow and lip colours have never been matched by any other BELLEZA skin release (with the exception of their Ava BB skin- the eyeliner on that one (which is my profile pic) is LEGENDARY)
These shorts were actually a Marketplace find that I stumbled across months ago. They were only L$1, but they’re a great shape and really effective with their worn seams and overall tatty appearance. I often dress them up with tights or leggings underneath and a big baggy jumper on top, but today I wanted something a little more formal looking, and this gorgeous white open collar blouse from TRES BLAH, at the UBER SL event, was just what I needed.
Last but not least is this beautiful hairstyle from ELIKATIRA. This is another store holding an epic sale and this style, ‘Cassidy’ is included. Regular hair colour packs are available for L$99 each, but you’ll need to be quick because this astonishing offer ends on Friday.

I hope you’re enjoying these denim-centric looks that I’m posting every day this week; here’s to some more heavy duty cotton happy tomorrow!

Look Of The Day: Young And Beautiful

Look Of The Day: Young And Beautiful

Second Life has been a bit of a bellyache for me recently, and that’s putting it mildly.

Rezzing has been problematic with even simple surface textures taking near impossible lengths of time to load. I can’t bear it when it doesn’t play nice; is anyone else experiencing issues at the moment or is it just me? Quite frankly it’s put me into a funk of gargantuan proportions, hence my lack of updates recently. I can’t blog without pictures, so I need Second Life to be good to me.

I was also struggling to get into events too, especially Collabor88, and I *needed* to get into that one because rumour had it that it was exceptionally good.  Fortunately Second Life decided to be much more responsive earlier and allowed me to go in-world, and I managed to TP into the event.

I’m happy to confirm that it is indeed an incredibly good round (with just a few exceptions that I thought looked out of place) and with the theme being ‘Razzle Dazzle’ we were pretty much guaranteed something very special indeed. There’s a great range of clothing, but also exceptional hair, furniture and buildings too. I was especially impressed by how many designers had included ornate, decorative touches into their work and really gone the extra mile when it came to colour and finish. It’s incredibly satisfying to see and to shop at!

I have a number of fabulous items from the event to share with you.  It’s impossible to pick just one item so I won’t include them all in one post, but feature a few different looks over the next few blog entries.  I’ll be mixing C88 items with other bits and bobs found in my inventory.

First of all, IZZIE BUTTON continues to go from strength to strength where her skin-work is concerned, because her entries for this round are just utterly sublime. 2013 really has been a year of discovery in Second Life for me, and she is definitely one of the designers that I have fallen in love with this year. Her offering for Collabor88 is the ‘Kaelyn 20’s skin, which is available in 4 different make-up options. It’s the whole package, courteously including appliers for slink hands and feet, as well as a choice of light or dark brow options and even eyeliner too. I tend to wear a light tan/medium skin tone but was more than happy to swap for this divinely pale number, and I soon snapped up the entire range. (At L$188 per skin, it would be rude not to!)

My second choice from C88 is the glorious drop-waist frock from TRES BLAH.  It’s in almost my absolute favourite colour; which is a sort of plum/burgundy shade.  (I adore it, and I’d say that about 75% of my real life wardrobe features variations on this colour, the rest is of course black!) so I was thrilled to see so many items at the event sporting this hue. Anyway, back to the dress, which is of course mesh (to be brutally honest reader I would struggle to purchase anything that wasn’t these days) and features a drop waist, a short double-tier lace skirt as well as a delicate pattern to the main body. It’s a modern take on the quintessential flapper style and is available in six colours at L$188 a pop.  I did wonder if it would be a little too girly for me, but nope, it worked perfectly for me with a pair of much-loved patterned lace cut-out leggings  from LARK and my ever-present ILO boots.  I don’t think I’ve stopped wearing ILO boots since the last round of The Arcade finished. I didn’t even win them all, but by gum the ones I did win I am wearing to bloody death!)

To finish my look, and what really makes it for me, has to be this style fromMONSO. It’s called ‘Yong’ and is a unisex style.   I’ve never worn MONSO hair before, but I now consider myself a convert, having snapped up both of the styles that were available from this brand at C88. I made sure I purchased both styles in the custom packs so that I could have lots of wear out of the shades that were included.  I didn’t mind forking out L$288 for each pack either because they contain a great selection of shades and come with a great hud that makes colour and size change an absolute doddle. I did note that the style is materials ready, but alas I fear that makes little difference on my screen due to a graphics card that has sadly seen better days. No matter, materials or not the hair looks stunning and really helped to bring this look together.

To finish I dusted down my trusty Tegryn Scarf in Olive from THEOSOPHY that was gathering dust in  corner and there you have it, a casual, yet very tidy take on the Razzle Dazzle theme courtesy of this fantastic Collabor88 round!

What have you enjoyed about this round of C88? Care to share? Feel free to divulge all in the comments below!
