LOTD: These boots were made for wearing…

..So that’s just what I’ll do! I confess, I am rather keen of the APHORISM brand. They make great clothing and these boots are no exception, aren’t they grand? They’re called ‘Rough Riders’, but truth be told there’s nothing remotely rough about them.  What they are are well textured and heeled, with an ever-so-slightly worn look that makes them good for casual wear. There’s enough of a modern feel to them to wear them with dresses, leggings and whatever else you fancy, but there’s just enough dandy to make them ideal for role-play too.  They would make great Pirate wear!

They’re available in black, charcoal, tan and brown.  I’m sporting them in the brown colour-way, and as you can see they look rather nice worn with my previously blogged DUCKNIPPLE frock. I took a quick shot in my bedroom so you can see the boots from the side; a couple of well-detailed buckles and a surface texture which features a nice contrast between smooth and worn leather completes the look.  I do like details and the boots feature a couple of nice ones, with the Aphorism brand name stamped on the buckles.

I confess that I adore boots, they’re probably my favourite footwear, and I think that these are a real find.  They’re currently available at ‘The Pier Market’,a new and upcoming regular event, priced L$350 a pair.

DUCKNIPPLE is a great favourite of mine. Whilst not every clothing release is to my taste, they offer fabulous outfits which offer superb value for money with impressive options such as HUD colour change facilities. You really can’t go wrong.  Beanster Potato (awesome name!) has just dropped some new items on the grid and I immediately fell for this tied vest dress.  It’s just L$195 (a total bargain) and has some serious dressy uppy and downy potential.(That’s a technical term that, honset!) It’s incredibly well-made and even though the styling is simple it’s really effective. I like the delicate tie-string embellishment to the front, and the range of colour options (accessible via the HUD), for both dress and cardigan offer tons of styling possibilities. In my opinion it’s a must-have. Fab isn’t it?

ImageAs you can see it works incredibly well with this utterly stunning  ‘SHADE’ hair from MAGIKA. Sabina Gully has promised us a more regular new release schedule this year, and I for one am incredibly excited by that prospect.  She’s always produced fabulous hair but her mesh creations are really proving to be something else.  She’s actually having a mini-sale at the moment, which will run until the 18th. As you can see from the diagram below,’Color Pack 03′ has been revamped. However, only styles released this year have been updated (Those styles are: Many, Such, Never, Road and Shade). Because Sabina doesn’t have a redelivery terminal she’s having an in-world L$50 sale on Color Pack 03 of the updated styles. It’s a fabulous opportunity to get your mitts on the new colours, which are all rather fab, as you can see below!

Last but not least I’m wearing the Spring Skin that was BELLEZA’s contribution to FIFTY LINDEN FRIDAY this week. I’ve enhanced it with my favourite eye-liner from MONS, and added my most adored bangles of the moment, from MAXI GOSSAMER for FAMESHED.

Kitty Wears:

  • Hair – ‘Shade’ by MAGIKA (Color Pack 3, L$50 until the 18th)

KITTY GOES SUPERNOVA

Supernova

February’s Collabor88 has landed and as you would expect it’s a bit of a corker.

Every month when I eventually get in to the Sim I always have the same thought, “They’ll never better this round”, and guess what? The following month they do just that.

I know a lot of people are unhappy at the moment and vocalising loudly that events are taking interest away from individual stores and content creators and that there are too many of them. I can see why they would be so alarmed, especially when you consider that every time you try to get into C88 you’re unable to because of the sheer volume of avatar traffic.  Perhaps there are too many events but not every one is quality, featuring original and inspired content.  I’ve no doubt the less professional events will eventually fall by the way-side leaving room for even better ones to take their place, but the harsh fact is that quality events will always bring in an audience, and  regular events such as C88, Fameshed  The Liasion Collaborative and The Mens Dept certainly have dedicated fans who eagerly await the new releases each month with baited breath.  And it’s no wonder, because they are excellent .

This month the theme is Supernova, and you can expect to be faced with an intergalactic explosion of colour and style when you eventually manage to get into the event. There’s a sensational array of clothing, hair, skins and furniture as well as accessories and jewellery all ready to be drooled over, with all the items meeting the space-age brief in an original and exciting way.

For my look of the day I’ve mixed a couple of C88 finds with some old classics from my inventory.  I’m wearing an old favourite of mine, the ERRATIC Cory Oversized Sweater, and I’ve teamed it with the absolutely out-of-this-world  ‘Nebula Leggings’ by NYLON OUTFITTERS.  I’m always excited to see what Nylon Pinkney has contributed to C88. She has an original, quirky style, and it mixes in really easily with more conventional pieces to help you create a totally individual look. It’s effortless but really effective styling. To complete this ensemble,  I’m wearing just one piece of jewellery, but it sure makes a statement and brings the look together. It’s the ‘Galactic Necklace’ from PILOT.  I really like the fact that this pendant features an animated, swirling galaxy and like every one of Kaz Nayar’s creations it’s expertly crafted.

I’m also wearing the BELLEZA ‘Ria’ skin here, from the last round of C88, although at first glance you may not recognize it. That’s because I’ve been really cheeky  and added some tattoo make-up layers, in this case from the IZZIE’S ‘Asia’ range of eyeshadows and lipsticks. Last but not least I found an old hairstyle in my inventory that I had completely forgotten that I had from EXILE.

I’m really pleased with this look, I hope you find some space-age  inspiration at Collabor88  this month too!

Kitty wears:

  • HAIR- EXILE ‘Arihana’ in Moreno
  • SKIN- BELLEZA ‘Ria’ (Med tone, option 5, dk brow)
  • EYES – IKON ‘Destiny’ Eyes in ‘Maya’ (ML)
  • LASHES- MC ‘Falsies’ (Upper and lower)
  • MAKE-UP- IZZIES ‘Asia’ Range-Purple Eyeshadow and Brown Lipstick
  • TOP-ERRATIC ‘Cory Oversized Sweater’ (Purple)
  • SHORTS-EMERY Mesh High Waist Denim Short ‘Hope’
  • LEGGINGS-NYLON OUTFITTERS ‘Nebula’ Leggings in ‘Purple Galaxy’ COLLABOR88

VISTA ANIMATIONS GET THE VALENTINE PARTY STARTED!

VISTA ANIMATIONS GET THE VALENTINE PARTY STARTED!

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it’s time to put some thought into what you’ll be doing on the most romantic night of the year.Wining and Dining is sure to be near the top of the list, but how about taking your beloved out for a boogie? If you do then you’ll need some moves to impress, and that’s where VISTA ANIMATIONS come in!

One of the times when Second Life animations really come into their own are when you hit the dance-floor. You can tell a lot about an avatar by the way they conduct themselves on the virtual linoleum. Well, you can’t actually, but there are always certain kinds of dancers that you’ll spot a mile off.For example there’s the funky one, well, he thinks that he’s funky but he’s using dances from 2007 and is jabbing everyone with his elbows as he throws shapes on the dance-floor. And when I say ‘throws shapes’ that precisely what I mean; he’s so jerky and all over the place that he looks like a cat in serious distress and about to evict the world’s largest fur ball. He judders and flails and knocks into people whilst generally makes an absolute nuisance of himself, seemingly oblivious to the fact that his moves went out of style a long, long time ago.

Compare that with the sweet little thing in the corner. Her dance moves are so subtle that you can barely tell that she’s moving. Her styles is less ‘Smack My Bitch Up’ but more ‘Let’s have a nice cup of tea and a lie down’, and even though she’s desperate to impress the swarthy avatar dancing nearby, but her moves mean nothing, he hasn’t even noticed her existence…the shame! *sob*

Fortunately Vista Animations are on hand to help out. They’re released a number of dances recently and each one is an absolute winner.

For the lads you can make like the king of the club by using the ‘Daniel-Party King’ HUD.  This is sure to bring you lots of attention, and that’s putting it VERY mildly. These are the kinds of moves that will make a virtual admirer’s knickers fall right off. Well, OK, that’s perhaps exaggerating a wee bit, but make no mistake these original motion-captured moves twill make you stand out at an event. Chaps, when you spend a virtual fortune on your outfit in Second Life then it means that you want to impress, so you need to go the whole hog and shell out for some moves that will bring the whole look together. You really cannot go wrong using VISTA ANIMATIONS to make your avatar package complete.

Now onto something rather fabulous for the ladies. I did a giddy, girly squeal when I saw this!

This is the ‘Two Sexy Chicks’ couple dance for girls, and like all other VISTA dances the moves have been captured perfectly. This is how girls dance in a club, after they’ve wobbled onto the dance-floor spilling their Babychams all over the place and knocked everyone around them flying. The scary part, for me at least, is how realistic this ‘Two Sexy Chicks’ Dance package is. We’ve all danced like this in a club, handbags on the floor and arms in the air, or bumping butts with our buddies, or reaching out and holding hands when the DJ drops that anthemic choon that you’ve always loved. “This is MY song!” you squeal loudly and excitedly..and a bit drunkenly if we’re being completely honest.

(I found this video on Youtube featuring the Two Sexy Chicks moves. It’s been uploaded by Goizane Latzo, and I think she’s done a great job of showing how awesome these dances are!)

I really love this dance HUD  because it really does capture perfectly what is, let’s be honest, a rite of passage. Dancing drunkenly with your girlfriends on a Friday night is what memories are made of, and these moves evoked some very happy memories for me, they really did! I would be really impressed if I saw some girls drop these moves on the dance-floor; like the ‘King Of Party Dances’ Hud that I mentioned before deploying these kinds of animations really show that you’ve invested some time and effort into your avatar, and that’s something that I personally really enjoy seeing in-world.  NOTE: The ‘Two Sexy Chicks’ package is an add-on for the Couples HUDs that Vista Animations sell.

STOP PRESS: There’s a fabulous deal on the Marketplace at the moment. Vista always produce amazing Couple’s HUDs, and as a Valentine’s Day Special you can purchase the biggest couples pack that Vista Animations have ever released for just L$2100. Granted, that’s a lot of cash, but the features included are just out of this world. We’re talking dances, photos, hugs, kisses..everything that would make your Valentine the best night of your Second Life. Check it out by clicking here!
