Witchy Wednesdays-THE HUNT IS ON!

Witchy Wednesdays-THE HUNT IS ON!

Okies, remember me telling you about a forthcoming Ostara hunt? Well folks, it’s started. I’ve not had the time, opportunity or inclination to partcipate in it fully yet, but I have visited a couple of loctions to see if I could share some goodies with you upon these pages. So far the Pentacles (because that’s what you’re looking for) have NOT been easy to find at all, well not for me anyway. I know it’s a hunt and it’s pointless having items in plain sight, but at the same time nothing annoys me more than wasting my SL time looking for something; if it takes me more than half an hour I just tend to not bother anymore..BUT of course the most important point to note is that hunt items are of course freebies, and for that we should be grateful. Nobody is forcing us to hunt after all!
Anyway, here’s a very beautiful item that I managed to find rather swiftly, because I was pushed for time. This is the gorgeous Ostara Tulip Goddess necklace from Sable Rose, the jewellery company belonging to Rosie Barthelmess, who is just an absolute darling.  Rosie makes beautiful pieces that she shells for diddly squat. She has a fine collection of Pagancentric pieces in store, as well as freebies and more avant garde items. She also has a great selection for the chaps. This Ostara necklace is just too darned pretty for words, and there’s also a smashing gift for menfolk too, a double leather thong necklace featuring a Pentacle and triple sun cartouche. Very imaginative and a great hunt find; both are in the same package.

If you participate with the hunt please let me know what you manage to find, there is a blog but it’s not updated with visuals as yet although there are clues upon the page..check out this link and happy hunting! ( And check out Rosie’s other lovely in-store items too!)

Bat for these lashes….

Bat for these lashes….

Now I’ve had a Second Life frustration for the past couple of years that has driven me often to utter despair, and that has been the correct attachment of  PRIM LASHES. For some unfathomable reason, despite my reading countless blog entries and watching numerous tutorials I have NEVER been satisfied with the results and have thrown my toys out of the pram on numerous occasions because f my sheer prim-lash ineptitude. I’ve also wasted a fair few bob on prim lashes to boot…and they aren’t cheap. Now, with the advent of 2.0 I can kind of breathe a sigh of relief, because many content creators are using the super cool new tattoo layer to create beautiful designs for the face, as well as make-ups and EYELASHES! Happy dance AHOY!!! Strawberry Singh posted a STUNNING portrait on her blog earlier and the lashes featured in her piece were quoted as coming from Stellar designs..so off I trotted…and there they were. I am CHUFFED to pieces, no more faffing about just wear them and job’s a carrot. You can buy individually, but I suggest splashing out L$325 and purchasing the four-pack, which features basic, everyday, flashy and emo varieties.  You can try a demo, I did, and that was it, I was hooked. Go and see for yourself, they may not be your thing, you may prefer your prim lashes(clever sod), but for those of us that struggled, the very least I can say is go and try these.

Oh, and an appeal to content creators on the grid…MORE lashes, MORE facial tattoos, MORE make up..in fact MORE EVERYTHING using this new layer cos I LOVE IT!

So, tried the web on a prim function yet?

So, tried the web on a prim function yet?

I have, I gave it a go this morning and I’m hooked! It’s so utterly simple, yet means while I’m busy in my studio or at my virtual home I can keep up to tabs with the latest news, e-mails, Xstreet bargains..everything without leaving the comfort of my Second Life. This almost negates my having a first life, if I’m brutally honest! I was shown how to do this by one of my Plurk buddies, Don Hosho, and it’s stupidly straightforward. Basically, rez an object (ctrl + B) and texture it (For this example I rezzed a cube, squashed and stretched it and then applied a blank texture, white, and switched it to full bright) In the texture menu, at the bottom, you’ll see a wee ‘+’ icon. Using that allows you to enter a URL, and bob’s your uncle…plus you can interact and refresh the page as you would normally.Of course, there are security issues to bear in mind here, for example you’d have to be a VERY silly billy if you were going to do your online-banking inworld using this functionality, but at the moment it genuinely  feels like the sky is the limit with Second Life innovations like this one…

Bloody marvellous if you ask me!

Tattoo You…

Tattoo You…

First up dear readers, HUGE grovelling apologies for my not blogging for (gulp) almost a week.
It’s my RL shifts, alas some weeks they bugger me up more than usual and I’m afraid that’s been the case here. Still, I’ll more than make up for it I can assure you! So, how have you been, missed me? Having fun with 2.0? I must confess that I’m really getting into my stride with it now. I’m not in as much of a loving minority as I was with it last week either; I’ve encountered a lot of people who are gagging for the new viewer, especially the Snowglobe version. I’m running Snowglobe 2.0 at the moment and SL is rezzing better and faster and is noticeably less laggy, so I do heartily recommend that you give it a whirl.
Of course, I eagerly await the Emerald 2.0 viewer. I think everyone is waiting for that one with baited breath, fingers crossed!
Anyway, to get us back into the swing of things, let me share a nice look I’ve just created with you. This is sort of beach-beautiful, which I’ve crafted using CURIO ‘Beach-Jellyfish 2’. I’m wearing a chest enhancing attachment with it from LINC, and the jewellery is by my favourite jewellers at the moment, $GaNKeD$. The gorgeusly summery hair is ‘Justine’ in ‘Barley’ by TRUTH, and the dress is called ‘Open Up’ in plum, by UB. But the main reason I created this was because I wanted to share the stunning butterfly face tattoo I won today at DEVOL. They have a roulette machine in store, you pay it L$50 and you receive a face tattoo selection at random. I had two attempts and got two beauties; this butterfly tattoo and a stars tattoo. I love the fact that we have a tattoo layer now in the new viewer, and it’s going to make such a difference to designers. Make-up, facial tattoos and various adornments, even hair bases can be created for this layer now and it’s really going to revolutionise some of the looks that we see on our virtual catwalks and blogs in the near future. I’m sore impressed with this look and I hope you are too..to think, we’ve only had 2.0 for just over a week as well….
