Elikatira 70% OFF SALE AHOY! (Kitty faints with excitement!)

I’ve been a fan of Elikapeka Tiramisu since her ETD days; which seem so distant now. Her return to the grid was marked with a huge fanfare from hard core fans, and it’s fair to say she’s been as successful in recent months with Elikatira as she ever was in her earlier days. The reason for this is simple; classic hairstyles with a modern twist. Whatever the occasion, you’ll be able to find a style to suit.  Traditional ribbons and bows, or less conventional asymmetric cuts with twisted prims in just the right places; each style reflects hard work, imagination and oozes quality. Not only that but the colours and hair textures are spot on. Whatever your preference, there is sure to be something on offer that will please you.

Another thing that I really rate about these styles are the production values and as a customer i really appreciate the variety of colours per pack; for your hard-earned dosh you’ll find five colours per pack in varying tones with ten in a rainbow colours box. Also there’s an Essentials selection which is really handy; 8 natural tones for every occasion in one handy pack makes for an inventory staple.  These are great purchases for photographers and stylists.  (In fact I personally recommend that you invest in these)  And of course there are fat packs to be had, and these are bursting at the seams with fifty, yes FIFTY, tones if you love a style THAT much.

But even better than that, there’s a sale on. Oh my gawsh it’s a corker, 70% off and when it ends the styles are retired. Finito. Making way for new stuff and things, oh the excitement! This of course means that you can buy up the entire store for not really that much at all..BUT, and yes, there is a but, good luck getting in. And then when you do, good luck not being hit by the lag-monster…

As is to be expected when a popular content creator has a sale the entire grid congregates in the store and basically it’s like walking through treacle, and demos don’t rez properly. So here’s a tip; run in (if you can) and grab as many demos as your arms can carry, and zoom off to the nearest sandbox that you can find. Once there, rez a box and squash it down into a square. Add another two of these, and a base, and choose a blank texture, making sure that it’s white. Voila! There you have a very simple modelling studio to hand, three walls and a floor, in which you can test your demos against a lovely white back-drop (or indeed any texture or colour that you fancy from your inventory)*  Pose away to your heart’s content and try out your demos in style with various articles from your wardrobe, then make a list and take a trip back to the store when it’s not as busy to buy, buy, buy!(For European SL’ers, in particular us Brits, that usually means waiting until early morning in the UK when all the Americans are in bed. Or at least should be! GET TO BED! Some of us have shopping to do you lag-hounds!!)

As I mentioned earlier I really like the Essentials selection, so I opted to buy this amazing long haired style, ‘Sound’, in that particular pack so that I could get a lot of wear out of it, just because I don’t normally go for long-haired styles. This one is a mesh-treat, and it also seriously reminds me of Angelina Jolie..

The sale runs until Feb 23rd so you have LOADS of time to make your selections.

Prices are dirt cheap too, I mean, almost ridiculously so.  Prices vary depending upon the style; certain regular five colour packs are just a mere L$66, with Essentials packs priced equally low, I’ve seen some at  L$84.  (There may well be some that are cheaper, but of course because of the lag I couldn’t click on every pack in store to be able to tell!) I’ve even seen some of the Fat Packs as low as L$310!

70% off is NOT to be sniffed at is it? So, here’s a taxi to Elikatira, and enjoy yourselves!

 * If you’re useless at building (I am, seriously) and want a basic modelling studio (Pfft, it’s basically half a box, LOL) then ping me in-world and I’ll drop one on you.  It may not seem like much, but armed with one of those, a pose stand with your fave poses in it and a sandbox you’re good to go for picture happy.

Beautiful New Release from Miel-‘Leafy’

Beautiful New Release from Miel-‘Leafy’

(Ignore the weird blocky effect on the dress, I’m pretty sure that’s more an issue with my adjustment than with the actual frock..)I am *always* excited when I get an update to say that Miel have new items in store. Miel is such a satisfying place to shop. The store is well presented, the clothing arranged beautifully and it makes for a highly enjoyable experience.   There’s imagination and thought in every design, and you’re assured of quality, something that is backed-up by the regular gifts distributed to the group.  They are always top-notch, and to me shows a caring attitude from the designer;it would be way too easy to send a gift out that was below par, but when you receive something of quality then you know you’re dealing with a professional.  Anyway, on to ‘Leafy’, a sumptuous number that features a beautiful printed leaf design that delicately traces across the dress, over the shoulder and into the back, where the folds of the skirt are entwined with prim leaves. Basically it looks as though you’ve sat down in a hedge, stood up and taken the brambles with you..but in a completely beautiful way:) As you can see from the picture here the leaf detailing carries onto the hem, which makes me think that this dress is perfect for a wedding, either as an outfit for the guest, or even as Bridesmaid wear. There are three colour variants but I’ve opted for a classic grey here and there are matching accessories too. There’s a headband which obviously I’m wearing, and the corsage is also an add-on. Both cost L$125, with the dress retailing at L$325..and herin lies the problem. ..
Now, it’s not for me to dictate the way that a designer retails their products, or decides upon a cost for a particular item.  Make no bones about it this is a quality dress that you would expect to pay a fair few Linden for..BUT I seriously think that you can’t just purchase the dress without the headband and corsage too, and that means that the outfit costs L$575. No biggie, and it’s certainly nice to have options, BUT I feel that the outfit would be better value if sold as a complete package for say, L$500. You could also have the individual pieces on sale too, but I just think that in times like these where every Linden counts that economy is just as important as beautiful design..and for the sake of L$75 I’ll bet it would be more profitable for the designer too.
All that aside, I don’t want to detract from what is surely destined to be one of the most popular releases on the grid this month. It’s a beautiful outfit and more than worth a looksy…as is everything in Miel. Don’t just take my word for it though, take a trip to Miel and see for yourself, but be prepared if you decide to visit the store at The Deck, you’ll need some serious sheqel!

Hey sugar, you looking for a date?

Hey sugar, you looking for a date?

I’m not saying that I’m a tart or anything, BUT this get up seriously feels like ‘Pretty Woman’ updated for the noughties, don’t you think? I wandered into Digit Darkes for a bijou moochette (mooching-it’s the future I tells ya!) and you know how occasionally an item just LEAPS at you shouting ‘Woohoo! Look at me! Look at MEEEE!’? (That never happened to you before? Does to me all the time..strange..) Anyway, that is *exactly* what happened with this gorgeous piece of loveliness..also known as ‘The Dictator’ shrug. Why you would infer that something as squashy and snug and downright sexual as this is dictatorial I have no idea, but just LOOK at it! Isn’t it the hotness? It’s deceptively simple too. Sleeves and ruffles and a short back to hold it all together, make it PERFECT for throwing over a frock to up your styling enough to make it that wee bit extra special. For example, this Blaze ‘Crush’ dress is stunning as is, BUT add the shrug into the mix and well, it just takes things up a notch doesn’t it? I know I started the review hinting that there was something a tad risque about this, which there is, BUT don’t underestimate it, because it’s capable of taking a lot of your existing outfits up a notch and breathing new life into them, and dare I say it, a touch of class even! As well as the frock from Blaze I’m wearing hair by ETD (Roxie) accessories by Yummy and the latest PXL skin release, called ‘Linda’, which I shall be reviewing separately. Anyway, back to Digit Darkes. As well as the shrug ( which I also have in ‘Ocean’, a really stunning blue colour) I picked up a pack of ‘Addicted’ stockings. I *LOVE* stockings, and you can just see them peeping into shot. They’re some of the most original I’ve seen in world actually and they’re pretty much opposite the shrugs, so be sure to check them out because you really are going to want to hop along to the store and see ‘The Dictator’ for yourself. Finally, if you don’t have a frock fetish and fancy something different to wear with your shrug (because you’d be just plain daft if you didn’t buy one) may I be so bold as to suggest the ‘Sasy’ corsets? These uber-modern and ultra fashionable corsets feature no frills but ooze style with their clean lines and fitting. They look great against the shrug and look perfect with black trousers or for the even more fashion concious amongst you, team them with this season’s longer length pencil skirts for an ultra-modern silhouette. (Remember that you have to wear them so tight that you can barely walk…but don’t worry about that, you’ll be wanting to stand still so that everyone can gawp at your Digit Darkes enhanced loveliness!) Enough of the wibble!
Go and get yourself one of these digital delights! Ooh, see what I did there?
Autumn mixy matchy happiness

Autumn mixy matchy happiness

.
I really must apologise to the lovely Lawra, creator extraordinaire behind the smashing ‘Nekorifik’ label, as she dropped a review box on me on the 27th of October and navel-gazing numpty that I am I’ve only just remembered:) Glad I have though-it’s great seeing how she’s developing as a designer and her work just keeps getting better and better! I’m LOVING the textures that she’s chosen for her Autumn collection of separates, and the detailing is very good indeed. She always excels on the shading and creases and I’m very impressed by how she’s constantly improving these key skills. Something else that has cheered me no end is the inclusion of denim in her latest collection. I don’t wear jeans much in SL, but the pair that Lawra has released this season are perfect! In this picture I’ve teamed her green argyle sweater with the fantastic Aoharu military coat, and some ETD hair ( Roxie in Auburn) with a pose by Reel Expressions. It’s worth mentioning at this juncture that BOTH Reel Expressions and ETD have superb sales on at the moment which you really need to check out asap. Last but not least, the skin I’m wearing is the mystery dollarbie skin by *Ki2* which I snaffled during the Starlust hunt. It finishes today, so you need to get your skates on to participate, but your task is to collect rubbish through 4 sims of utter madness! Fantastic builds and fabulous shops featuring some of the best designers in SL have meant that the hunt has been packed out with avatars and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve crashed out-but trust me it’s been worth every decibel I’ve exclaimed in frustration! If you want to quickly have a go, the ‘Giant Trash Hunt’ includes the following sims: Floyd,Lloyd,Horst and Polly Jean and includes great pressies such as skins, poses and clothing galore. I’ve really enjoyed it, so thanks to all involved! Click HERE to get started…. and be sure to check out Nekorifik’s latest releases. You can see me modelling some of the rest of the collection on my Flickr.
