Berry’s Memes: Autumn Challenge

autumn_001

Another Monday, another Meme Challenge from Berrycakes!

The instructions are simple: Take an Autumn inspired picture and/or answer the following questions about autumn (Don’t forget to leave a link in the comments of Berry’s blog to your post!)

1. Is Autumn your favorite season? Why or why not?
It sure is! I think this is because I’m your typical Earth-sign, a Virgo born on the 13th September.  I’ve always thought of Autumn as ‘my’ season. The shades of this time of year  are the palette of colours that feature most in my wardrobe, and I love the way the trees change from lush greens to fiery reds and golden browns. I also love the smells and sounds of Autumn; the crackle of leaves underfoot and the smell of bonfires and roasting chestnuts. It’s a magical season if you ask me.

2. Do you call it Autumn or Fall?
Autumn.  The only time I have ever heard it called ‘Fall’ is in American movies.

3. What kind of weather does your area get during this season?
Well the weather is strange at the moment because we’ve had four days of glorious golden sunshine here in the UK. It’s been better than summer, although obviously the nights are getting really cold. I’ve had to wear a jumper a few times now, and beloved has even put the heating on a few times too, but all in all it’s been rather grand. As I’m writing this the sun is blazing down  onto my desk. This another reason why I’ve always loved Autumn, it’s not too hot and it’s not too cold, it’s just right in my opinion.

4. Which color do you always associate with autumn?
My favourite colour, Maroon. But the palette of colours associated with this time of year is just sensational!

5. Which Autumn themed sim is your favorite at the moment?
Has to be ‘The Trace’, which I wouldn’t know  about if it wasn’t for Caitlin Thomas’s post about it. I’m sure there are many other Autumnal sims waiting for me to discover them though!

LOTD: Kitty’s feeling FROCKY!

Snapshot_001

Back after my holiday break, and what a wonderful birthday I had. Once again thank you so much for the wishes. I thought I’d ease myself back in nicely and feature an Autumnal LOTD today.

Now, you all know me well enough by now to know that I do like a good frock. (I said frock you perverts!)And there are many, many good frocks out there to be had on the grid, including this extremely nifty wee number from DCNY.

Apparently there was a version of this Boho dress included in Fifty Linden Friday on the 13th, BUT alas I was away so missed my opportunity to grab a copy.  And I would have done, with much gusto too, because this is a very pretty dress indeed.

I like the shape which perfectly fulfils the boho brief without being too fussy, and it wears incredibly well with boots making it perfect Autumnal fayre.  But thevery  best thing about this dress? Well that will be the choice of patterns and colours that are available in-srore. There’s a version for every occasion.

So dress it up with a floppy hat and boots and long flowing locks, or add a razor sharp haircut, heels and statement jewellery.  Either way it works. Fits like a dream, and looks the part. What more could a girl about Second Life ask for?

What are you waiting for? Let’s get frocking!

Berry’s Memes – Inventory Meme

I’ve not completed one of Strawberry Singh’s Challenges for a few weeks and I am incredibly behind,  which is a bit of a shame because I always enjoy them. However I did spot one that I could complete pretty quickly, her Inventory Meme, so here it is!

  1. What is your current inventory number? 50, 292. I’m REALLY not happy about this number because I strive to keep my inventory below 50k at all times, so that means 292 things will be getting deleted very soon indeed!
  2. If you had to delete your whole inventory and could only keep one thing, what would it be? This is an incredibly difficult question to answer because there are so many items in my inventory that I truly adore. However, I’ve been through a major inventory disaster before, and lived to tell the tale,  so I know that as much as you love some items you actually CAN live a successful Second Life without them. (Pfffttt!! I sobbed for a week, seriously!) I genuinely have a LOT of love for my stunning Arizona house by BAZAR so I think if I had just one item left it should be that, because I know that I would find some much-needed comfort in knowing that I could go shopping for oodles of wonderful things to fill it up with again.
  3.  What is the last thing you purchased? Hair, skins and clothing from Collabor88
  4. Which item do you wear most often? Apart from my shape, which is a given, I would have to say my IKON eyes are an absolute must wear for me. I also very rarely take-off my SLINK mesh hands. In fact I really should because they need a wash.
  5. When you search for the word ‘Penis’, how many items pop up? Absolutely NONE! I must admit that I am completely astonished by that; but I have been in Second Life a while now so have probably deleted any items of that kind from my inventory a long time ago..

Berry’s Monday Meme- What’s Your Digits? (Avatar Blogger Crossfit Challenge(Entry 24 of 30))

Snapshot_003

Berry’s meme this week is all about avatar sizing. At the end of it she asks us to disclose our digits; I haven’t had time to do that yet but I will do that tomorrow. While I was researching this issue I found an old (2008!) interesting conversation on SLU regarding avatar bodyshapes.  Although time has passed, some of the arguments are still relevant today. You can read it HERE.

Like all of Berry’s previous Monday challenges and memes this really got me thinking, especially about the way I represent myself in world. I love Kitty’s shape, but I have no issue in adding a few pounds here and there when I feel like it. (Note I say add rather than take away, I think she’s darn near perfect size-wise and I simply cannot bear avatars that are too thin!) Upon reflection I feel a bit guilty sometimes that she’s not bigger!

Anyway, here are my answers and I’ll update the rest tomorrow.

Thanks again for the challenge Berrycakes!

  1. Do you try and keep your avatar’s body proportionate and similar to the “average” proportions (pictured here)? I do try and retain some sense of proportion on my avatar’s body-shape. I often tinker about though, I like Kitty to have a belly and hips and boobs and carry a bit of weight on her.  I admit that I will tweak her shape to fit clothing better but I don’t see anything wrong in that.  She tends towards a M or L in standard sizing, much like me in real life! (Well, large actually. I like cake.)
  2.  What do you dislike the most about the SL avatar mesh? Hands and feet are the main problems, but they can be easily remedied now thanks to the wonders of Slink hands and feet. I wouldn’t be without mine now! My biggest bug-bear HAS to be wrists. They’re so ruddy ungainly on avatars, so I always hide them with bangles or bracelets and watches. Mesh hands again help with that issue, although there’s a slight gap that can be easily rectified  by wearing loads of nice jewellery. At the moment I’m loading up my virtual wrists with the Boom Friendship bracelets from the arcade because I love them to death!
  3.  Does it bother you when you see other avatars that are not proportionate at all? Well, we live in a virtual world so the idea is that you can look however you want to look, so with that in mind I try not to judge. Having said that, of course I do, even if I don’t realise it. I confess that I inwardly draw breath sometimes when I see how skinny some avatars are. What is it with the super long-legged, skinny crowd? And whilst I love my bum, hips and tum, when I see some avatars walking around with their inflated Kenny Everett arses I have to try really hard not to laugh. But that’s when it’s taken to extremes, obviously. I do like it when I see plus-sized avatars in-world actually. It’s quite brave to be a plus-sized avatar in a world where in a few clicks you can be ‘perfect’ (whatever THAT means) so I’m impressed when I see them. It’s sad that it impresses me actually, because it’s merely a reflection of real life being brought into the virtual world. I always loved seeing Rosie Barthelmess in-world, a gorgeous plus-sized avatar and a lovely person too.
  4. Even though this is a virtual world and people can be anything they want to be, do you feel when they are in human form, they should try to keep their proportions close to average? No, they can do what the hell they want, that’s the whole point! I may not like the look they’ve created, but that’s my own personal opinion and it doesn’t matter. They design their avatar to express themselves how they see fit, it has bugger all to do with me and nor should it!
